I had a seriously bad reading streak this week so I thought I had finally gone insane when I decided to end the week with a new author’s debut novel. But boy was I glad I took a chance because Kate Fierro just wiped out my bad reading week with this book.

And I think this is what Love Starved is all about – taking chances. Taking a leap of faith. It tells the story of Micah who has given up his dream of a happily ever after years ago after still having hang-ups from his first relationship. He had

FOUR HEARTS--This story.

I had to sleep on it before gathering my thoughts.

This story won't be for everyone. Let me talk to those who might interested. Trigger Warnings: off page sexual assault, physical abuse. And if you're a reader who likes their hookers to only sleep with the main character while they're 'together', this isn't for you either. Because Micah has no issue with Angel/Aiden the prostitute continuing his trade while they non-date/fake date/hook-up. Angel con

This story of a quiet, once-bitten twice-shy man and a rent boy does several things right. First, I really appreciated that Angel did not quickly give up prostitution and become monogamous after meeting Micah. A guy who's turning tricks generally has strong motivation to do so - money, power, threats, to get back at someone... That doesn't change on a dime. And I also liked that Micah didn't ask him to. The author let them develop a relationship slowly, in fits and starts, so that progress and s ...more

My review will be short.

This book made me feel like crap. It was utterly depressing and angsty. If you go for that kind of shit, this is the book for you.

The writing was very good and it has a slow burn I kind of liked, but also hated because this book felt loooooooooooong.

And I REALLY REALLY disliked the fact that Angel/Aiden ‘serviced’ Micah’s best friend and her husband (before Micah and Angel met).

And now I’m off to read something that will make me happy. It’s either that or I’ll start with

NOTE: This review is all over the place.

Overall, this was a nice story with an interesting take on the "client falls for the prostitute" theme.

Micah, really is love starved. He craves human touch and loving feelings. And this what he asks from Angel, the escort. Not necessarily sex, just to feel loved. Actually, there isn't too much steam in the story but the existing sex scenes are very intense.

I particularly liked the way Micah and Angel's relationship progressed. For the most part

4.5 stars. This was unexpected and I loved it.

This could have been an ordinary story or well, fantasy, about a guy falling in love with an escort. Pretty Woman-ish. But the author created something that was so much more.

Love Story is told from Micah's perspective. Micah hasn't dated for years. He had one boyfriend in college but it was a hugely disappointing experience (his boyfriend was a complete jerk) that he gave up on love and focused his time on building a successful career in IT security

I grabbed this book sample from the ‘zon because a bookie friend of mine (that is, a book reading friend, not a legit “bookie”) wrote such an amazing review, I wanted to check it out for myself. After devouring the sample, I was so intrigued that I bought the book so I could continue reading the story.

I am so impressed that this is Author Kate Fierro’s debut novel. Love Starved has a rock solid story line, with well-developed main characters and secondary characters. I really fell for both guys;

Love Starved, by Kate Fierro, is her debut novel and she knocked it out of the park. I only had a vague idea of what the story was about when I sat down to read. By the first chapter I was already hooked. It had that feel to it that sometimes you are lucky enough to get early in a story that says “This is going to be good.” And, was it ever.

Micah is 27 and trying to get over his last boyfriend. He’s happy just being by himself, working, and meeting his friends. His BFF, Daphne, however, can’t st

I didn't have high hopes based on the cover and title, but this was really good. It was sweet, romantic as hell, and a little gritty. A nice slow burn too, which I appreciate.

4.5 stars, plus extra for that wonderful cover!

Magical and real. A journey to finding confidence in yourself, confidence to take from life what you need and get yourself where you want to go, instead of letting life (or anything/one else) beat you up.

I loved the slow slide towards love, the realistic way in which the characters acted, how they oh so slowly meshed, and how they changed both their lives because of their relationship with each other.

I was pissed, I was hurt, I was making glistenin

I was lucky enough to get an Advance copy of this book, yay!

What I loved most about this book: it took me by surprise over and over. Is there anything more entertaining than a book that transports you, that takes turns you weren’t expecting and keeps you turning the pages because you just have to know?

Love Starved is a story about Micah Geller, 27, a man who works in information security and lives an independent, successful, and slightly lonely life in Minneapolis. While he tells himself he is

Love Starved is a compelling story of two men trapped in their own warped view of life, having lost hope in their dreams for a better life.

Fierro has written a compelling story that you will not want to put down. Each of her original characters are dynamic, and have a depth and complexity that is revealed throughout the story. Micah Geller is a man who has been hurt, and given up on love because of it. He spends his days running his IT company and fills his life with work to the exclusion of all

I really did not know what to expect from this book. There were red flags warning me this could not possibly work. Debut author is one. Another is the other MC is a sex worker. How will their relationship even work? Then there is the title, Love Starved. Conclusion, one is starved for love and falls for the wrong man.

The resulting read was an eye opener. True, Angel is a sex worker and he makes sure h

I had heard great things about this book before I started reading, so I did expect to enjoy it. What I wasn't prepared for was to fall so completely in love so quickly with both main characters and their individual and shared journeys. Whatever you might expect from this book going in: it is so much more!

Micah is a successful businessman who actually loves his job, but he's neglected his private life and doesn't think much about his personal hopes and dreams. Angel is a professional escort, ente

Is the concept a little tropey? Yes. But it’s so masterfully executed that I don’t care. The plot moves like caramel, nice and slow and thick and tasty, and sexy and bold and warm. I mean, it never felt dull, and I finished this book in less than a day, it sucked me in so hard. I give it an A+.

It’s hard to say to which main character in this book the title refers—they both seem a bit “love starved.” Micah is a busy, successful writer and “information security” guy who’s alone because he’s sworn himself into it after a too-long bad relationship and subsequent breakup with a Class A controlling jerk. He’s given the card of an escort called Angel, whose performance involves romance and attentiveness and things that feel like real dates (and, oh, by the way, really expert sex); in lonelin ...more

I was given the distinct pleasure of being asked to read an advance copy of Kate Fierro’s debut novel, Love Starved, in exchange for an honest review. I was familiar with Fierro’s independent writing already and, having always enjoyed her work, I trusted that she would bring her consistently lovely writing style to her first book as well. I will admit, however, to underestimating just how much I would become immersed in the world and characters that Kate has created. I wasn’t prepared for the em ...more

At a first glance, the premise of this book seems to be nothing new - rich guy falls in love with prostitute, conflict ensues, conflict is resolved. But the plot is so much richer than that.

Although it is told from Micah's perspective, from the very beginning we get to see moments of Angel's humanity behind the performance, moments that even Micah doesn't seem to realize are there. Seeing the way that their relationship unfolds, with ups and downs and so many complications that are ever so prese

as much as this book seems like it will just be one big cliche...it's not. it's actually a really epic love story. and really, the one thing micah is looking for turns out to be the exact thing he shows angel.

i love micah because he's truly a great guy. he is strong and cute and nerdy and loving. because of a really bad past relationship and his highly demanding career, he's become somewhat isolated. he's kind of given up hope for a future relationship and decides to just hire an esco

What a debut by Kate Fierro! Love Starved is a touching, heart-warming, feel good romance.

The synopsis of this book leaves so much out, but in an oh-so-sweet way. Kate Fierro leads you on a roller coaster ride of emotion and at every corner she has you waiting with baited breath to see what happens next. This story is a reminder that love can occur in the most unlikely of circumstances, especially when you least expect it.

Okay...I have been in a reading slump for a month or two. Start a book stop and start another one. Nothing has held my interest. But WOW! This book did!
This story slowly evolves around "Angel" and Micah. From friendship to BFF's and more. Micah didn't want to save or fix Angel or make him feel guilty for doing what he does. And Micah's family were all so awesome. There is drama and angst but it fit the story. Love this book!

I devoured this book almost entirely in one sitting, completely hooked on Micah and Angel and the development of their relationship from what it began out as to what it became. It had welcome twists I hadn't expected and a strong backing of side characters whom I came to adore as much as the boys themselves.

This was a beautiful story. Micah takes a chance on a escort service to fulfill his fantasy of feeling loved. You would think that you would wonder is the escort giving you what you paid for or is it for real. This is Micah and Angel's story. A very well put together story that has you hoping for the HEA.

Micah was a lonely and scared man, but I thought that he didn't let himself go to enjoy himself. Angel had tons of secrets, but treated Micah with respect and love. The relationship tha

They comfort me when I'm sad. They make me smile even harder when I'm in a good mood. They make me laugh and sigh and cry and smile. And above all, they make me travel paths I would never have chosen for myself, but enjoy to

This book. Oh man this book is wonderful. Micah’s thoughts about how his first “date” would go are so typical of first dates in general, but also how I’d expect someone paying for a date to act. The reality of the date was so much better and it blew all of Micah’s, and my, expectations away. Angel absolutely broke my heart. He kept thinking he wasn’t deserving of Micah’s friendship or love, or that he wasn’t what Micah needed or wanted. The rel

I really enjoyed Love Starved. This book was just a good old-fashioned romance and a fun read to boot. Micah and Angel are wonderful characters and it was easy to connect with them right from the start. I especially adored Micah. He’s a workaholic with no time for love, but he has a desperate hunger for it all the same. He’s hiding from life until he meets Angel and finally finds the courage to start living again. Even when Angel rebuffs him, it would be easy for
