Overall, I was disappointed in The Caloris Rim Project by Glenn P. Mac Donald. I am generally a huge fan of sci/fi, but this one somehow missed it for me. It started out with great promise and I thoroughly enjoyed the first quarter of the book, but it somehow fell apart for me after that. The plot and the characters showed promise in the beginning, but the plot began to meander all over the place and at times was hard to follow. The characters were never fully developed and I could not decide whether I liked or hated the main character, Frank Rawdon. I realize that in sci/fi, the reader must suspend disbelief, but to me parts of the story line simply seemed ludicrous. Mac Donald does indeed show promise as a story teller, but in my opinion, he needs to show a little more restraint and zoom in on one major story line.
