I really enjoyed reading The Hollow Heart and A Change of Heart, the first two books in the Heartfelt series, so I was thrilled when the author sent me a review copy of Secrets of the Heart, the final instalment of this trilogy which brings the glitz of Hollywood to a remote Irish island – Innishmahon. I don’t want to say too much about the plot of this book, or what has gone before, because I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t already read them.

It is a series with a bunch of characters who I

Secrets Of The Heart is book three of The Heartfelt series, easily a stand alone novel, also a grand finale to the series. Set on a tiny island off of the west coast of Ireland, it has all the charm of Ireland and with a host of characters from movie stars to a flamboyant Post Mistress and a delightful West Highland Terrier called Monty.

Marianne Coltrane, once an adopted child, is now a grown woman, re-acquainted with her parents, who have just re-kindled their love. Soon after the honeymooners

4.5 out of 5 stars.
This is book three in The Heartfelt series, and is a great end to the trilogy. We are back in Innishmahon, catching up with Marianne, Ryan and co. and of course Monty the dog. The island is hit by another storm, putting the bridge-building project at risk. So Marianne and the islanders do what they do best - they band together, pull a few strings, call in some favours and raise the funds themselves. But there’s more than that going on - the island’s inhabitants have lots of se

Marianne Coltrane is looking forward to finally settling down with her movie star partner, Ryan O’Gorman on the remote Irish island of Innishmahon. With its small population it is the perfect place for them to escape the constant pursuit of the paparazzi, and all that comes from being in the public eye when you are a famous movie star.

All does not go to plan and soon they are caught up in the real life drama of life. When a storm hits that could tear the couple apart, they are faced with life ch

Although I was desperate to learn how Marianne Coltrane's story ended, I reached the end of SECRETS OF THE HEART only too soon. I've invested my time in the characters and their adventures and, although the trilogy reached a satisfying conclusion, for me, that satisfaction was tempered by the knowledge that I won't be able to share in any more adventures with Marianne, Ryan, Dermot, Erin and the other inhabitants of Innishmahon. Maybe its the time of year, but I would really love to walk into Mc ...more

I've enjoyed all three books in the series and this final instalment brought the trilogy to a great ending. I liked the way the author recapped some of the characters who reappeared as the story evolved. The main characters are well developed and there's a wealth of fascinating minor characters too. The island setting is lovely and beautifully described. The plot is a mix of romance, adventure, intrigue and glamour and keeps you in suspense for the final outcome right to the very end. Very enjoy ...more

This novel was the last in Adrienne's 'Heartfelt' Irish-American trilogy which makes me sad because I can no longer lose myself in the lives of the inhabitants of Innishmahon, a fictional island off the West coast of Ireland. And yes, that includes the character of Sean Grogan whose mission in life is to put a dampener on everything! Throughout the series, the characters have become very real to me so it is with genuine sadness that I say goodbye to people I feel I have come to know.

Too many secrets.....

I didn't comment on the second book in this series because the third book just took off from the ending of it. It was a long and interesting contemporary romance that had me not liking the heroine, I thought she was selfish, especially after Ryan pretty much gave up his career to settle down. I think this series could go on with some other characters in this book, reads like a good movie of the week.

What a great book! As the previous two of the heartfelt trilogy, I read it in no time. Back in Innishmahon, you'll never want to leave again! Again, I recommend reading the whole trilogy, there's so much to treasure!
It's the perfect read for the Winter.
Can't recommend it enough.

Secrets of the Heart is the final instalment of the Heartfelt series. Marianne Coltrane’s birth parents, reunited after years apart, have finally tied the knot and she couldn’t be happier. The fabulously flamboyant Kathleen MacReady and Brian Maguire are in Dublin on honeymoon after a lovely wedding day.

Marianne is looking forward to her lover, movie star Ryan O’Gorman and his son, Joey’s return to Innishmahon for Christmas. However, nature conspires to throw a spanner in the works in the shape

Adrienne Vaughan has been making up stories since she could speak; primarily to entertain her sister Reta, who from a very early age never allowed a plot or character to be repeated – tough audience. As soon as she could pick up a pen, she started writing them down. It was no surprise she wanted to be a journalist; ideally the editor of a glossy music and fashion magazine, so she could meet and ma ...more
