I told myself that I wouldn't continue reading past #2 of the series if it shared the predecessor's horrid writing style, snail pace, and lack of meat to an otherwise interesting plot. But, I held out hope till I finished the series; Sadly, the plot never grew wings, even if some characters did.

The series was like someone dangling the most tempting walnut in front of you only for you to crack it and there be no nut!

FLUFF

If you took out the number of times the characters said: "are you okay" ... "Thank you" ... "My pleasure" ... And " I will protect you with my life" , this would probably be a two book series.

Take into account the rambling about food, movies, decor, redundant physical appearance descriptions, & love triangle diatribes about attributes of the star players, and it ( the four book series) would barely make an entire book.

POINTLESS PLOT

None of the characters did anything to prevent nor solve the "war." It was always in higher hands, making the entire plot point of a prophesy moot because she did nothing to prevent or end the conflict.

The dual bonding and her being given two paths to pick from was pointless after both choices were taken and only one was returned by .. again, a higher power. Sure, afterwards she made professed her solitary love for one but only in the absence of the other choice. Until then, the books consisted of her boo-hooing about the bonds & choices and having f'ing 15 page diatribes about each guy's flaws, strengths, and looks.

I've seen a lot of authors use characters as nothing more than plot advancements & trivializing their deaths, but the killed off love interest in this story that really and truly died was beyond shameful. The author alludes to him being good hearted one moment and evil the next, and, in his end, readers still didn't have a clue what his true nature was or wasn't. He was built up to play a major role and was quickly killed off to advance the other love interest being solidified.

Two other characters die that have been with the story from the start. They too were trivialized& skirted over. Sad misuse of secondary characters!

The sealing of bonds took up a huge chunk of the book, with heavy makeout sessions and eluding to sex without ever using the word "sex." Yet, when the 'sealing' finally happened, it was one line of basically ...hey we did it. Lol. So the eluding, makeouts, and cursing made it inappropriate for younger readers but too romantically watered down for older readers. The romance just doesn't settle in any category.

Disappointed

The first book of the series was the best one. After that it went downhill. It got cheesy and annoying with reading about her interaction with her friends on the second book for like 75% to being unrealistic on the last book. Couldn't relate with the characters. Things just didn't flow. I didn't get how her big transformation was going to change things for the better. I mean her transformation occurred after the big battle. That was confusing. She was supposed to change things but I didn't see that. I can't recommend this series since it was too unrealistic and confusing for me in the end.

Wowzers!!!! What a perfect ending for a fantastic series!!! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED everything about Gilded Wings. Everything, everything, everything!!!! Cameo did a fantastic job with this book!!! Gilded Wings was an enthralling and enchanting story from start to finish. I literally could not turn the pages fast enough with this book. Oh my gosh!!! I just want to sit here and gush over this book!!! Gilded Wings was NOT predictable at all. I was left gasping I don't know how many times. The characters were still fantastic and lovable, but was very sad to see some of them go. Each character grew in his or her own way by the end of the book, especially Emma. She became who she was always meant to be and she never gave up.

Emma has literally made a pact with the devil. She is hoping against all hope that she and her family can find away out of it. Time is running out though. With both Lucian and Lucifer wanting her, Emma is basically on house arrest. But let's face it, she is one stubborn character. Of course, she doesn't listen. Emma is also constantly fighting the bond with Ethon. Being bonded to two people is tough, but Emma wants to choose her own path, choose her own feelings and I loved that about her. I adored Kade so much in this book. Throughout the series I was first Team Kade, then I went to Team Ethon, then with this last book I was completely torn. Both guys are just perfect in their own ways. Kade would do anything for her as he was her true guardian. He would even give his own life up for her. Ethon was a badboy gone soft when around Emma. He just had that personality that I love. With Ethon, I never knew if he was truly good or truly bad. Dom, Dom, Dom!!!! He is by far my favorite character in this whole series!!!! The way he bantered back and forth with the other guardians and Emma was hilarious. He had his serious moments though and I really felt for him.

I fell in love with this series from the very beginning. I have been on an extraordinary journey with these characters and have grown to love them. Gilded Wings literally took me on an emotional ride that left me breathless, shocked, happy and a balling mess. It was seriously a very emotional book. I knew there would be causalities and even picked them out before I started reading. I was right and wrong on those. Gilded Wings ended perfectly, but for me, it left me wanting more. I want to see more with what becomes of Emma after her transformation with her coming into her powers. I think there could be a little more hidden with that. I also want Dom to get his story!!! By gosh he deserves it!!! I highly, highly recommend this book!!! It is a MUST read!!! This series is full of awesomesauce!!!

Umm did I read a different book than everybody else? This book was so full of cop outs and contridictions it left my head spinning!! Not to mention all the action happens around 68% so the entire last third of the book I just basically skimmed through because, to be honest, I just didn't care anymore. I thought I'd figured out where she was going at the book's climax (which I said before happened way too soon) which had she gone that way I would have applauded her as putting a great twist into a ho hum book. But no, she just went right along with the mediocre plot she is so proud of. Bottom line ok series with a horrible final book. Don't worry.... Happens to the best authors. Look at Veronica Roth....

This whole series was an entire cheese fest... Not sure how I made it this far? I was really hoping the author would improve as it went along but unfortunately that never happened. Will avoid this author in the future.

I can not even begin to describe how perfect of an ending this book was to the Hidden Wings Series!! It made me fall in love with the characters again!! I've missed reading about Emma and Kade and could not put this book down. (Probably not good considering tomorrow is Monday but anything for this series and Cameo). This series will forever be a favorite and I can't believing I just read the ending. The amount of tears I have made tonight are unreal! (Also laughs from Dom). I one day wish to have a love like Emma and Kade's. This book showed me anything is possible and that love can never be too strong. I love the quote at the beginning, "you can choose your path, but your faith is sealed". Thank you Cameo for bringing so much joy and feels with these books!

Eeeks. This book...I wanted to like it, I really did, but so many things were off. Like REALLY THAT JUST HAPPENED, HOW DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?!? I like the premise of this novel, I truly do, but everything was rushed, ill explained, forced, etc. AND if I had to hear the word giggled one more time I thought I was going to shoot myself. You were just in a fight for gods sake, why are you giggling five minutes later like a five year old. Also, why does Emma blush every time a guy makes a comment toward her?! Grow up please. Oh and don't even get me started on her magic suit, and how sexy she apparently was wearing it. I could go on but I won't. If you like rushed books, with oddly placed info and scenes, read it, otherwise keep searching...

Oh my goodness! What an epic finale! Hidden Wings was and is one of my fave series ever. There were so many moments in this book that made me cry out in joy and sadness, and laugh out loud and even grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Cameo has an uncanny ability to write magic and pull the reader in and ensnare them so they are hooked on her words forever. Everything I felt was tied up into one neat and perfect conclusion.

3.5 stars.

Emma's transformation is getting closer. She is running out of time to find a solution to the agreement she has with Lucifer. Despite Lucian stepping up his attacks, Emma decides to sneak out and try to travel to Midgard to get some answers from the angel who turned Kade mortal. (that was a waste of time)

I'm conflicted about this series. There were some things I liked, and others I didn't, thus the slightly above average rating. I had to remind myself a few too many times that this series is probably geared toward early high schoolers. Sometimes the characters really annoyed me, especially Emma. But, the story had some good points too. I'll just leave it at that.

Best. Book. EVER!!!! Cameo is so beautifully brilliant in the art of story-telling that has suspense, drama, romance and action. The story weaves a stunning tale of triumphs and tragedies, that make you weep and want to cheer all at the same time!!! Cameo could not have written a more beautiful ending to such an incredible journey and story.

Honestly, when I first started reading this series I almost gave it up 5 chapters in. The whole "I just met him and I think I'm in love with him" thing going on between Emma and Kade gave off too much of a Twilight vibe. It felt, in one word, unbelievable. And being a realist with fantasy loving tendencies I felt leery that the story was just going to end up being another cliche romance where the protagonist forgets all of her morals, self preservation and ... well... intelligence for the sake of true love. Instead of giving up I decided to push forward and see if it could get better, less predictable, and somehow redeem itself; and to my complete shock - it did.

Putting in spoilers with the warning of length and no holding back on some major details --

All in all I would recommend this book and series to anyone who enjoys a downright good old fashioned action packed romantic fantasy series. While there were some similarities between other series I've read -cough-Mortal Instruments-cough-, it holds it's own ground and is something that I will be keeping on my book shelf to pick up to revisit from time to time.

Good continuation of the series

Enjoyed this 4th book of the Hidden Wings series. This book takes us through the time to Emma's 18th birthday. She is still being pulled between Ethon and Kade...and the time to make a decision is nearing. To make worse, Lucian has unleashed the creatures of Hell to track her and kill her in his thirst to kill all Nephillium. With the fight between Lucifer and Lucian is coming right towards her, Emma plots to get out of the agreement with Lucifer with everyone still alive.

Utterly spectacular and exquisitely stunning, Gilded Wings far surpassed all of my expectations and hopes. My imagination was given a wonderful gift as it was taken on the wildest adventure that I have ever known or dreamed about. The evolution of the magnificent characters in this story was beyond amazing, and I was absolutely thrilled to see how this marvelous story unfolded before me. I experienced the complete array of human emotions as I walked each and every heavy yet joyous step throughout this journey, and I wouldn’t trade a second of it for anything.

Emma is literally fighting against the hands of time to somehow gain an advantage long enough to fight for her dream and hope of a future. Ever in search of the truth, she takes one dangerous risk after another in order to scrape and scratch out a sliver of any type of an advantage. Always the fighter, Emma discovers answers that she wished she never knew, and yet she draws desperately needed strength from her loving and devoted family, friends, and Guardians. No matter what, she will do everything in her power to keep them safe as they do everything in their power to keep her safe. Fate has its own set of rules that it plays by, but every so often it takes pity on us and allows a small amount of healing sunshine to surround us, permeate us, and hold us up while we take a strengthening breath. It’s in those times that all of the fluff of life falls away, and all that is left is truth and reality in its barest and rawest forms.

What can I say to further extol the virtues of this incredible journey of epic proportions?! While I completely fell in love with Emma and Kade both individually and as a beautiful couple, I can’t deny that my favorite Guardian next to Kade was Dominic. He has a long history with Emma’s family that she had no idea of, but it was his light hearted sense of humor and complete devotion to her and her family that won my heart. He was downright extraordinary, and he will always be very special to me. Next to Dominic, Samuel, Emma’s father, was simply astounding! The amount of pain and suffering he endured for the daughter he only just found was given freely and with a lot of joy knowing that his child would be safe and protected until her time had come. All of the characters that we discover along the way are forever unforgettable and will make you feel more then you ever thought possible.

Cameo Renea will always be one of my favorite authors. Without a doubt, she knows how to masterfully weave a breathtaking story of hope and love amid utter darkness and deep despair. Her beautiful heart shines through each of her books and brings with it a connection to her hopes and dreams. Her longing to find an overwhelming love and a healing light that she can breathe into the madness and pain of the world around her is found at the heart of each of her outstanding works of art. I hope that we will all be graced with and blessed beyond measure for many years to come through many more of her marvelous creations.

****SPOILER ALERT!****

After the wind-blowing cliffhanger at the end of TETHERED WINGS, I was so excited to see where this story would go. I have to say that there are a couple of things I expected and much, much more that I did not. I am in love with this book! It is the perfect finale.

With her hands tied, or more specifically the contract signed, Emma is forced to look for answers on her own. This trip to Midway works as an excellent plot device to have Dom, and everyone else by extension, learn the truth about Emma’s dilemma. Learning the truth forces other truths to be outed. The resulting situation is even worse than Emma originally thought. It basically forces all of her feelings into fast-forward mode.

While she definitely wants to choose Kade as her mate, the contract binds Emma to Ethon. In all fairness, Emma really examines her feelings for Ethon and thinks about the future they could have. At the back of her mind, she always remembers that Ethon is the son of Lucifer, and nothing good can come of that relationship. In a moment of remembrance of his own family, Bane decides to tell Emma the truth about Ethon. It is revealed that he has an evil side and that he is Lucifer’s actual son. I believe that this information weighs most heavily on Emma’s mind as she struggles to find a way to take the choice back for herself.

By this point I have figured out that the only way for Emma to get her choice back is for Ethon to die somehow. I waited for it all along through all his battles with Fallen and Hellhounds, but it doesn’t come. Then, the epic battle ensues where everyone is involved in the fight, and every horrific creature from the Underworld is brought along to end Emma’s family. As predicted by Cameo, I cried my way through the fight. Even though I am not a #TeamEthon fan, I am distraught over his death. Emma’s heartbreak helps to fuel my own, and his last words to her had me crying like a baby.

Even though there was plenty of foreshadowing that something would happen to Malachi, I am still dumbstruck and I cry even more when he is killed. However, nothing prepares me for the death of Kade. I have to take a break after he dies to pull myself together. With the story written in Emma’s point of view, her heartbreak and grief become my own. The next revelations, and the return of Kade, make me as giddy as is possible at 2:30am.

The rest of the revelations and happy ending I expect. Once I know that Kade is back and immortal once again, I know we have a happy ending. This was excellent writing. I identify with Emma, Kade and even Ethon. I can relate to pieces of them all. I feel like I am there, a silent observer to the story as it unfolds. The epic battle especially draws me in. I feel like I am right next to Emma watching and waiting. I guess that is why I feel everything so deeply. I can truly appreciate an author who can provide such a story for her readers. Thanks Cameo Renae for the awesome ride and well-told story that has been The Hidden Wings Series.

I first discovered this author when I read Hidden Wings, and absolutely fell in love with the story. I bought this book immediately upon learning of it’s release because I love this series, as I do with all books by this author, including her After Light young adult, dystopian series, which is probably my favorite of her series.

Emma is a teenage girl that is orphaned in a horrible wreck, and moves to Alaska to live with an aunt she had no idea existed. Before she leaves she is attacked(and escapes) at the airport by a monstrous creature. Kade, sent by her aunt, is her companion on the trip to Alaska, and quickly becomes her love interest. Turns out, she is going to be changing to an immortal on her eighteen birthday, and she is surrounded by angel guardians. Her aunt is really her biological mom, and she also eventually meets her real father. There’s a war going on between the Fallen angels, and the angels that guard Emma. There are also hideous creatures that spend their time trying to kill all those that surround Emma, called Darklings. The reason? There’s a prophecy concerning Emma and the evil creatures don’t want it to happen. This is all background from the first book as this is the last in this four book series. So much has happened by this point, and each book has been filled with an exciting series of events in evils’ quest to take Emma, and it’s perfect for the young adult reader.

This one starts shortly before Emma is to transform, and right after the end of the last book. Lucifer, father of Ethon, who is now bonded to Emma, has just made Emma promise to seal the bond with Ethon before her transformation, or he will kill all the people she loves. Since she loves Kade, the thought of living an eternity in hell with Ethon and Lucifer devastates her. And I am going to leave it at that.

This book was filled with romance, action, battles, and deaths. Not everything works out okay with all, to say the least. There were twists and turns, and I was really upset with the author for awhile during part of this book. Since the whole last part of the book was non-stop action, I had to read that part non-stop, as well. Otherwise known as not being able to put it down.

Cameo Renae knows how to write fiction for the young adult audience. She has written likable characters, heinous villains, and keeps the action flowing throughout. Romance in this series is sweet, and although there is a bit of lust, nothing sexual happens other then kissing, so this makes it perfect for probably ages 14 up. These books are so popular they always become international best sellers. I highly recommend them to young adults, and to all the adults that have fallen in love with this series as well, ones that just haven’t read this one yet.

On a side note, this author’s book covers are all so beautifully done!(PureTextuality.com)

I must admit that this book was the best of the four/three books, but only because of the ending. The start of the story was still flat and Emma was still portrayed as someone whiny, but she was getting better.

The ending certainly blew me away because I was just reading the same old flat lines when suddenly there was a spike and there comes the action I have been looking for.

Oh Ethon, sorry for doubting you because of what Bane said. I felt that you should have had more time, but you were dealt with immediately. I'm all for Kade, but still...that was just...fast.

For the fight of the century, the glory was short lived. I didn't feel much as well when 'they' were killed. I was a bit sad that they died, but that was it. They seemed to just be minor characters who was dragged along and got killed.

I would definitely make a 4 or a 4.5 rating if all of the books were to have the same quality as the ending. I mean, the marriage was certainly touching and Emma became an outstanding protagonist. She held her own from the very start of the adventure, but ONLY the ending showed her as someone powerful and independent..and maybe a little less whiny. There should have been more to her and Kade's story after that...

Flippin; Cameo let's send us on a emotional rollercoaster, because that's just cool! Kade he's still protective, "Emma. You're going to need to fight," he spoke loudly, thrusting his dagger into the neck of a darkling snapping at his arm. "Don't you dare let them take you." Kade likes to make sure his woman has something to look forward too, "I'm real alright. And once you heal, I'll show you exactly how real I am." Even though it's bittersweet to see this series end I'm glad it kinda ended to be honest not knowing what was going to happen at the end of each book was just killing me, I'm glad the characters got what they deserved.

I'm really sad to say I was disappointed with this book. I got half way through the book and just couldn't finish it. While I really enjoyed the first book in this series, the subsequent books seemed to just get worse. The plot was dragged out, the dialogue seemed too formal and stilted, I got very annoyed by the love triangle, and everything was cliche. I no longer felt any investment in the characters or to find out what happens at the end. Maybe I will eventually finish this book, but I unfortunately placed it in my dnf shelf for now.

What an amazing ending to this beautifully written piece of magic Cameo created! This book had it all. It made me cry my eyes out, feel an extraordinary amount of hate for one character, laugh, and feel small tingly goosebumps on my arms when reading heart filled scenes! Cameo has a way with words and this book ( in my opinion ) was one of her best masterpieces. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves an adventurous, romantic, action packed book! If you haven't read the Hidden Wings Series , I suggest you get the first book right away. You will not be disappointed! ♡

A must read!!!!!

If u have gotten this far in the hidden wings series then I don't have to tell u how much of an amazing writer Cameo is but she not only raised the bar with this book she blew all her and other books out of the water!!!!!
This book grabs ur attention from the first sentence and keeps it till the last word!!!
Trust me u will need a box of tissues with u to read this one and if u read it in public be prepared for the weird looks from strangers for ur random outbursts of laughter!!!!

Awesome finish to this series!!! One of my favorites to date!! This quote from the book is one of the best and it made me literally LOL.
"Thomas stepped forward with Lia in his arms. She was lying limp, her mouth wide open. “Did you put the sleeper on her?” I gasped. “No, she did this herself. She fainted as soon as she saw your wings". That made me laugh so hard. Great book!!

this series had the potential to be great but was let down by many contradictions and IMHO would have benefited from someone going through as many of the sentences seemed liked after thoughts and didn't really fit with what was previously written.

Gilded Wings by Cameo Renae is technically not the last book in the Hidden Wings series, but I believe the last one is actually a standalone. I'm not actually quite sure. Anyway, Gilded Wings is the last book where villain Lucian is concerned.

Okay, so, I felt this book was better than the third one, but not as good as the second. The second is still my favorite. The love scenes between Emma and Ethon or Emma and Kade felt drawn out and I didn't really feel any passion. The bond kept on being the reason for the attraction (or distraction) and it was beginning to be an insta-love annoying aspect of the book series.

And like the insta-love, there felt that there was a bit of author cheese in the book. Though I did like how the happy ending came to be, I couldn't help but feel upset that the same wasn't given to other characters who lost their lives in the book. Sure, they probably didn't deserve their wings, but if one character was going to be brought back to life, why not just go all the way with it?

Anyway, the real cheese that bothered me was the sudden change of Emma's birthday. Alaine just outright told Emma that her birthday wasn't what she believed and somehow the bad guys knew the truth. How the hell they knew is beyond me. I would have liked it better if Emma started transforming on her own accord because of the stress and the fact that no other Nephilim had a child with a full blood before. That unknown factor would have made more sense than "oh, your birthday is actually this date and the baddies know... sorry."

It also would have been cool if Emma transformed during the final battle and then she started kicking ass. I like it when she does and her just listening to Kade or Ethon bothered me. She is so much more of an interesting character when she bites the bullet and does what needs to be done.

So, yeah, I didn't care for this book in the series. If I could list it from best to last, it would be: 2, 1, 4, 3. Basically, the book was okay and it did answer all the questions, but I feel it could have and should have been more epic.
