Alright, let’s get into it… I DNF’d this at NINE PERCENT!! Yes, it’s that bad. (There will be spoilers, so read this at your own risk because I’m not tagging it as a spoiler)
If zero stars was possible, you best believe that’s what I’m rating this damn book.
Let’s be real, I hated the first two books of this series. But they were entertaining. Well, as entertaining as a dumpster fire could be, I couldn’t look away. They were truly the definition of trash in my opinion. But the third installment of this series is the trash topper to the trash cake, and soooo not in a good way. I’m truly embarrassed to say that I was sort of excited for this book to be released.
Let me set the scene for you. Axl, Xavier, Malachai, and Ophelia are all mourning the loss of Alexandros, blah blah blah. Now do we think that’s a good place to insert a smut scene? Me personally, HELL NO. In the midst of all their immeasurable pain, physical and emotional, from losing him, Sadie EFFING Kincaid decides that’s a WONDERFUL place to make them all start boinking… tf?! Now, you think I would’ve learned my lesson with the first two books, but no. Truly what the actual f… Ophelia is over here actively having a panic attack, and here comes the rest of the “numbnuts” (to quote ms. Kincaid🙄) with a “want us to make it better?” FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NO!!!!
I made it 31 effing pages into this book… 3 chapters… I can’t anymore. That did it for me. The only book from this series that is worth any sort of praise (imo) would be the second one. That one at least had some semblance of a plot. And up until this point, I was willing to overlook the truly terrible smut placement. But this is just BEYOND horrendous. To each their own, I guess, but to me, this is waaayyyy too much.
After… whatever tf that was… I decided to do some skipping around to see if there was any other part of this book that’s worth any shit. Honestly, there’s not. Plot twist (insert fake gasp), Alexandros is still alive… totally didn’t see that one coming. Blah blah blah, honestly I don’t care about it anymore at this point. However, I did do some research to see how this book actually ends. All of the female characters, EXCEPT effing Ophelia die?!! Honestly I wish Ophelia did die. Let’s dive into her for a second. She has the personality of a literal fricken toddler, but like on steroids. And she looks like a horny unicorn? Like seriously… she has bright pink hair, and her everyday outfit is a mini skirt and a tank top (panties may or may not be included)… how in the actual hell is everyone on this campus not constantly getting flashed by her? Back to the ending… on top of all, but one, of the female characters dying, Ophelia ends up losing her powers and is now pregnant…? Huh? For the love of all things holy, what kind of ending is that.
I truly thought about trying to push through this book, but I’m glad I decided not to. It was a shitshow 31 pages in, and I can clearly see that it only got worse. There’s no way I could’ve sat through all the bullshit and absolutely terrible smut for almost 400 more pages. I think it’s safe to say, I will not be reading any more of this author. Again I say, to each their own, this was just clearly not for me. Cudos to the people that enjoyed it, but honestly, I don’t see how you did…
