Women's lives are more hectic today than ever; the demands of child rearing, work, ministry, and marriage can drain women of energy and enthusiasm. What they need is order; they need a plan for prioritizing what's important and sticking to it. Lysa TerKeurst has created Living Life on Purpose to answer this obvious need. It is a Bible study that helps women design a life plan based on seven main principles of the Proverbs 31 woman. Upon completion of this study, a woman will have goals to work toward, action steps to complete, and most importantly, a plan for living their lives on purpose...God's purpose.
Lysa TerKeurst is President and Chief Visionary Officer of Proverbs 31 Ministries. Take some time to examine yourself and discover God's plan for your life. He has so much in store for you. Take the time to listen to His voice. This was such a blessing!
Living Life on Purpose by Lysa TerKeurst works from the premise that if you just let life happen, you will not feel fulfilled. Instead, her belief and practice is to find your purpose in life and make a plan so that you can always work towards that purpose. The basis of her plan is the Proverbs 31 woman. Not only does she site Bible verses that support the goals, she includes a look at the life plan she has written. The book also contains questions for the reader to journal about to then extract the parts to incorporate into her own Life Plan. (There is a separate journal that can be purchased to use with this book, but it is not required as the questions are in this book.)
This book has 2 key focus areas: creating a life plan and living life on purpose. To be honest the portion on the life plan did not resonate with me. That is partially because I already know my life’s purpose. So this portion would be more applicable to those who are still figuring out the main resin they are here on earth. However the 2nd portion did resonate with me. I liked the breakdown of how to find purpose in the different roles we have as woman.
If I were a woman born in 1920 who was able to stay at home with my kids and do everything I could to satisfy my husband then this book would be for me. I’m glad this wasn’t the 1st Lysa TerKeurst book i read because i wouldn’t have read anymore beyond this and quite frankly, if I were one who could quit a book, I would’ve in the early chapters.
Who am i? Foundation - i am child of God, my relationship with Jesus Christ is not merely the religion My Purpose? How to know your purpose 1. Declare your master Joshua 24:15 2. Determine your mindset Roman 12:2 3. Develop your makeup Roman 12:3-6
This was a wonderful books that provided some actionable ideas about helping you to get some focus in your life. It doesn't just talk theory, Lysa provides steps and actions to take to start living more purposeful or focus.
I would not recommend this book. Scripture has been taken out of context among other serious theological flaws. I could only make it to chapter 6 and had to stop. If you are looking for a "fulfillment blessing" from serving the Lord, then you are missing the point entirely.
