See Volume 183. Covers the manors of Chester-le-Street, Wickham, Gateshead, Houghton-le-Spring, Easington and Bishop Middleham and the collieries of Gateshead and Whickham in the Chester, Easington and Stockton Wards.
Lots of material here on land holdings, agricultural and small industrial activities and settlement patterns. A good research tool, slightly impacted by the fact that some parliamentary survey teams were less scrupulous than others. Perhaps the landowners of the day gave them a bit if a backhander? Some areas inexplicably missing - for example Monkwearmouth and Hylton Castle, possibly due to selection of parishes by the editors, or absence of original material.it may be possible to reconstruct the land patterns around Houghton from the great detail of landmarks, boundaries etc.
