A very good first book in a series. Strong main character, very likeable townspeople, good mystery. Enjoyed the unusual setting of the peach farm. The Georgia Belle rules that lead off each chapter were a kick. A lot of positives here. I'd say the one thing that bugged me is the tendency to repeat facts. Looking forward to the next one! ...more

Cozy readers, you are in for a sweet peach of a treat with this first book in the new Georgia Peach Mystery series. Author Susan Furlong has created a wonderful series with colorful characters, and a mystery that will keep you entranced until the very last page.

Protagonist Nola Mae Harper is a perfectly imperfect character which makes her so relatable. Poor Nola, she’s back home after traveling the world and before she can even adjust, she finds a body. While of course Nola takes part in the in

Well bless my grits-loving heart, I just love this author's style! She captures the small-town, Southern flavor and charm just right. I can hear some of these same phrases twanging right out of my North Carolina Daddy's mouth. And I can totally envision one of my "Former Miss Georgia Peach" sorority sisters living in this two-stoplight town called Cays Mill, the "pit of the Peach State"! This book is a hoot and a half! I snorted with laughter ever

You will be craving to try all of the peach recipes mentioned throughout the book. I was thrilled that some of them are included at the conclusion (my favorite part of culinary cozies!) This was a fun beginning to an entertaining new series. I loved the feel of the Southern community and the quirky very likeable town characters. The small town setting fuels the gossip mill and you quickly get drawn into the lives of the Harper family. The gossip also keeps you guessing as it throws in many red h ...more

Nola Mae Harper is returning to her home town of Cays Mill, Georgia, and her family’s peach farm to help run it while her parents take a three week cruise. However, she’s hardly arrived when she finds the body of the owner of the local lumber mill in the peach orchard. Worse yet, her brother-in-law is arrest for the crime. She and her siblings quickly close ranks and try to clear his name. But can they do it?

This may be a debut, but the town and the residents came to life for me right away. Nola
Nice start to the Georgia Peach Mystery series by author Susan Furlong. Nola Harper has returned back home after traveling the world as a humanitarian, only to discover murder in her family's peach orchard the morning after her arrival. Her drunken brother-in-law is the main suspect, and Nola must work with friends and family to clear his name before her very pregnant sister gives birth. Fast-paced, and many delicious recipes included as well. A+ ...more

Loved this smooth paced mystery

I really enjoyed this first book in the series. Anything set in the south interests me to begin with. The characters were fun and likeable, and I loved how Nola came up with a great new way to help the farm finances. I'm looking forward to finding out how Daddy and Mama take to this idea. And Roscoe sounded so cute that I wish he would be able to stay. The take down was pretty awesome by the way.

Wasn't a fan of Peaches and Scream, mostly because I didn't understand/care about the Southern Belles life.

I enjoyed how Peaches and Scream was about a Peach farm, which is something that I haven't read in the cozy mystery genre. The Southern Belles tips at the beginning of each chapter was a neat concept, however I didn't like how the characters would repeat the tip in the chapter.

The biggest negatives for me was the characters and the relationship between the characters. The main character se

This is a book I have wanted to read for awhile, but when I saw that it was available on audio, I jumped at the chance. I love peaches and all that can be made from them. I also love Georgia having visited many places in that state. Add all that in with a cozy mystery, and I am going to read this one. Nola has returned home to Cays Mill, Georgia to help run the farm while her parents travel for their anniversary. What her family doesn't know is that Nola no longer has her great job traveling the ...more

Peaches and Scream is the first book in the A Georgia Peach Mystery series

I found this to be a very nice beginning to an interesting new series. Be sure to read the chapter headings for fun Georgia Belle facts. I found them to be very amusing and informative.

This is the first book in a new series and I certainly hope it’s not the last.
In this first installment, you will meet the Harper family and their friends. The Harpers are peach farmers in the state of Georgia and are about to celebrate 50 years of marriage. When their daughter Nola comes home for the celebration, she stumbles on to a murder victim in the peach orchard on the night of the celebration. With her parents gone for a much deserved vacation, won by her mother’s winning peach recipe,

This was a great example of what a cozy mystery should be. I really enjoyed reading it and looking forward to the next book in the series. Which I will hopefully have my hands on soon!
This was recommended to me. I have read & liked her other series "bone gap".

I did it on audio & while the narrator was good, b/c of the thick southern accent it was a little hard to understand at times. also, I normally listen to my audiobooks at a faster speed so I can finish them during my work day but I wasn't able to w/this one b/c of the accent.

I liked that she interwove her theme of peaches (as GA is known for) throughout the story. (ie. title, cover design, mentions, peach orchard busine

Good start to a new series.

What I enjoyed:
* The characters are likeable and interesting
* The MC is sensible and had a pretty interesting job before coming back home
* The puppy, Roscoe, was adorable

What could have been better:
* Looks like there is a possible love triangle and I hate those
* Hollis sounds like a total jerk. I know they kept saying how much he loved his children, but that doesn't keep him from being a complete a$$hole. (view spoiler)

Fantastic book! I read it all in one day, I couldn't put it down. Great characters, and great setting. Nola Mae returns to her home in Georgia, where the family peach farm is, to run things for her parents as they go on their second honeymoon. Its fun to see her reconnect with all of her old friends, and her family. Her sister has planned a fun celebration for her parents before they head out on their cruise. I so enjoyed reading book 1 in the Georgia Peach Mystery. First off the orchard setting was wonderful. I love that it has been in the Harper family for several generations. I could picture the rows of trees and practically taste the sweet preserves. The MC has been away from home for several years and I liked watching her return and incorporate some new business ventures to hopefully help increase revenue. She did so in a very genuine and non-pushy way too. You can tell she truly cares for her f ...more

It was a peach of a story!

Nola Mae did her family good watching over her family's peach farm while her Mama and Daddy went on a Caribbean cruise to celebrate their 50th wedding Anniversary.

The only problem was she found a dead body in the peach orchard when the morning after the party she was cleaning up the party mess. It was the body of Ben Wakefield, not a well liked person in town. Most of the evidence pointed to Nola Mae's Brother-in-law, Hollis.

She knew Hollis did not kill Ben but she too
