Take Three Birds

Rate this book
On a mountaintop in Italy, English writer Jill comes up with an idea – to meet up in the flesh with two other writers she encountered on the internet and has shared many online laughs with. One slight problem is that Janet lives in England and has never flown. Another is that Tottie lives in France and, like a good wine, doesn't travel.
So intrepid Janet boards her first ever flight to meet Jill in Italy and together they embark on a crazy road trip in a twenty-year-old Fiat Punto, to disturb the peace of Tottie's little 'grottage' in France's Auvergne.
When two sixty-somethings and a forty-something meet up, there's lots of laughter and plenty of chatter. But will it turn out to be a lasting friendship or will the Three Birds part company vowing never to meet again?

Another triumph for each in the trio!

I have read all their books. Janet's was intense and so honest I wrote her an denote. The guts it took to write took my breath away. Jill's was also intense. The irresponsible behavior of her ex did not vanquish her, it mobilized her and made her overcome. Doing such hard work and harvesting nettles? How can I ever complain again? And Tottie... I have read all her books. The fortitude to pull up her roots with her elderly mom and mentally ill brother to live in France! And to see the tender and yet ferocious love she showers on them and others! All live with hard physical work but on their own terms and with enjoyment. Great role models.

Oh, THIS book? All of the above in evidence. It is a book of reflections and emails, funny, honest, and interesting at all times. I forgot to mention that they all use humor in their lives to relate their stories. Some times more than at others. Wonderful

Everyone go buy it and make them write more!

Let's become friends

This is a great story about 3 ladies (?), I mean females that met on Facebook and decided they wanted to meet in person. The ladies are all authors and have read each others books also, and still wanted to meet. Oh yeah, another problem--they are all English but only one lives in England, one in Italy--because her husband dumped her there and one in France--she wanted a better life for,her mom. Reading the book made me want to pipe in on the conversation--and the. Realizing that it wasn't real time. i loved Jill using references to some of my favorite shows in England and of course the book ended way to quickly. The book is a fun read even if you don't know the three involved--but if you have read their books you are in for a great ride!!

Take Me along!

OMG, I laughed and I laughed and I laughed until I almost "had tears running down my legs". An absolutely delightful, entertaining, and did I mention funny book! I had read Jill's book but had not read the other two authors. Now I will, and can hardly wait. Buy this book, I swear you'll love it!

My only reason for having chosen to read this book was the fact that I recognised two of the authors names from writing groups on the social media. By the end of the read I was pleased to have given the book a chance.

In hindsight, the book description is accurate, but for some reason I had expected to be presented with a story of sorts, rather than what is basically a diary of events garnished with each writer's background story and their impressions of one another. Frequent use is made of the inclusion of what appear to be complete transcripts of social media messages and emails.

I had great expectations of Take Three Birds, having already read memoirs written individually by the each of the authors. I was not disappointed, in fact Take Three Birds was far better than I imagined. Without saying, it is well written, edited and formatted. What lifts this memoir from the rest, is the honesty with which it is written. The three birds are laid bare through the writings of each bird about the other two. By the end of the book, I felt that I had personally been on the journey with Tottie, Jill and Janet, and that I would be proud to call any one of them my friend.

OMG can I come with you next time?! What a fantastic refreshing book. I absolutely loved it, this is one of those books that I want to tell the world about!

This book is a memoir of three ladies or would women sound better?! lol who have made friends on social media through their love of books/writing and embark on a crazy adventure to meet up. What a brilliant idea, would would of thought of that eh?! very original and has quoted by Tottie "We call it Thelma and Louise without the canyon scene " it is most definitely that.

So there is Janet that lives in England, Tottie lives in france and doesn't travel and Jill who lives in Italy who came up with this brainwave idea. Janet then boards her first ever flight to meet Jill in Italy and together they embark on a crazy road trip in a twenty-year-old Fiat Punto, to disturb the peace of Tottie's little 'grottage' in France's Auvergne.

Take Three Birds will have you crying with laughter from start to finish. I read this in one sitting I simply couldn't put it down. I love the fact that it is written by not two people but by three and i feel that's one adventure on its own and a very brave thing to do. with the book being wrote by all three you get a good insight to all three ladies backgrounds and personalities. And boy what a good sense of humour you all have I felt that I was with you all the way on your crazy journey. You have all kept me highly entertained.

I can't wait to read your next instalment, Iv actually got my fingers crossed that this is going to happen. If your looking for a fun light read then this is the book for you i highly recommend this giving it a whooping massive 5 stars.
.
And a massive thank you to Tottie for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

A heart-warming rollicking tale of the camaraderie and bonds of friendship from three people who were online friends and decided to meet up, write about their experiences and share their individual thoughts about each other. Having read and enjoyed books by each of the authors, I was curious to read more about their lives and this book didn't disappoint. The three author friends planned to meet up in the home of one of them, Tottie Limejuice, in the Auvergne area of France. Janet Holt travelling from the UK had never flown before and Jill Pennington lives in Italy. The planning, online chats, journey, the adventures they had along the way and the eventual time spent together is all chronicled and put together in this unique way and makes a really good read. They each have a fantastic sense of humour and that plus their life experiences, and outlook on life has bonded them together and I hope that more books about adventures together from the three birds are written. Finishing the book I felt really envious of their time spent together.

An interesting concept -- three writers who have met online through their writing decide to actually meet in person. The story includes emails and perspectives of each woman as they plan their short vacation together and then experience it. I have not read any of the authors' other works, and as there are lots of references to events of which I was not cognizant, I felt that a little explanation would have been helpful.
