This first book is not the story of seven sisters, but just one of six adopted female babies who grow up as privileged children (named for constellations) at an amazing island home in Switzerland called Atlantis......and when Pa Salt dies, each of the six grown women are given a private letter with a secret clue to their past.

The story itself was complex and beautifully constructed layers. Though it was long, I never felt like the story was ‘lengthy’ or ‘unnecessary’.

Never let your fear decide your destiny.
A lot of people recommended this series to me, and I'm glad I finally got to it. I love the idea of seven adopted sisters from different places trying to track down their heritage using a quote and gps co-ordinates provided by their deceased adoptive father. This reminded me a little bit of the books I used to read when I was younger - easy historical fiction, with an element of romance. Although I don't normally read romance, I still enjoyed this book, ...more
I listened to the audiobook and this may have made it even worse than actually reading it.
I'd like to do a word count and see how many times the words thanks and thank you come up.
And the dialog - wonderful lines like "I'll immortalize you forever" and "I WAS your sister".
And there are going to be 6 more of these?
It only gets two starts because the historical aspect was interesting. I didn't know that about the Christ the Redeemer statue.
On the whole it is pretty ...more
The Seven Sisters is the first in a planned series, each focusing on one sister. Pa Salt was a wealthy man who adopted six baby girls (yes six, not seven; I guess the reasoning will eventually be revealed) from all over the world and brought them up with love, luxury and opportunity at his lakeside castle in Geneva. Now he's dead and has bequeathed an envelope of clues for each daughter should they wish to ...more
The characters were well developed and the scenery rich and delicious.
This is the first in the series and I can't wait for the next book!
Her cast of characters are the sisters and contain anagrams. And a beautiful armillary sphere plays an important role in the novel as well as the Lucinda Riley's The Seven Sister's Series. When I picked up the book, I had no idea that I was reading book 1 of a series, and, darn it, I'm hooked.
I had many theories and so many were right, a few surprisingly wrong, and some unanswered. I smiled, cried and ...more
