This book took me by surprise in various ways; this is much more than I expected!
I don't even know in what category this book can be pigeonholed, but THIS 'Chasing Echoes' is a fantastic, exciting read with a lot of suspenseful, riveting twists!
The opening chapter is simply amazing - the author did an amazing job in introducing the main character, Taz and (albeit briefly) what she is capable of. It is so powerful, so ...more
The characters are wonderful, and like many great authors, Jodi Perkins does a fantastic job of creating a real relationship between the reader and her characters. I adore the way she made me hate and love Stryder at the same time.

Note: I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review and that’s what the review is going to be – honest. And like any of my other reviews, I’ll keep it completely spoiler-free.
We do not possess imagination enough to sense what we are missing.

Every chapter in the book begins with a quote, and the above is from the third chapter. Before getting into the rest of the review, I have to say the quotes at the beginning of each chapter are perfect for what the chapter includes. I couToomerEvery ...more

The writing was wonderful, the pacing perfect, it just flowed and everything sounded natural. The characters, especially the main MCs - Topaz, Taz for short, and Stryder - were interesting and likeable. Taz was easy to like from the beginning, she was strong, honest and caring. Stryder came across as ...more
Just like the synopsis said, Stryder and Taz are in a curse. But the interesting thing on this curse is that there is implying time. If you love the time loop thing you’ll love this book.

One of the first things that jumps out is the characters- some books hook you with the plot, some with the writing-style, this one definitely gets you with the characters.
I loved that Chasing Echoes focused on a ingenious story-line, exploring a genre of the fantastical world that hasn't been written to death. And not just that, the humor and catfights between the MCs Taz and Stryder had me laughing times without number it is hard to pick a f ...more

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the way the characters were interwoven and their chemistry with one another.
Topaz (Taz) has a gift. She can make things fall.
Stryder (Stry) has no gift. He is an arse!
Case in point... The Senior Dance. Stryder asks Krystal, Topaz younger sister, is there with Stryder; much to Taz's dismay.
Stryder drags Krystal on stage and another boy, Lance, who is actually a bigger arse than Stryder, announces that they ma ...more
I really like the style of the book, the alternative POV narratives makes it easy to read and also allows you to really get inside the head of the two main characters.
Topaz, one of the lead characters, really has a good twist to her character, I loved the fact when you're introduced to the story you think it's about a normal girl with a normal family but oh wait they have powers... WHAT! This really ...more

Taz is a typical high school student, with typical high school problems. As her journey progresses, we learn she has a special ability, and of course, she is not the only one.
