JD Hollyfield is a new author to me so I had absolutely no clue what to expect. I went in completely blind but I was pleasantly surprised with what I discovered.

Christina Daniels is an art dealer living in San Francisco, leading the high life with her equally pretentious boyfriend, Brent. When she finds herself lumbered with a 3 carat rock on her finger that she doesn't want, she starts to wonder how she ended up feeling so empty.

“ONCE UPON A TIME there was a girl who wished for something better. That girl was me and I got the he** out of fairyland and grew up as fast as I could.”

How do I even begin to put into words how much I loved this book. My So Called Life is the first book I have read by J.D. Hollyfield. It was SDG (So Darn Good) and HHM (Heart-Happy Material).
“You can put a ton of years and a million miles between you and the one, but the heart doesn’t forget.”

Funny, sexy and cute small town second chance romance with a H to die for. Quite a few moments I had tears in the eyes for the love this steadfast H had for the h -or lol'ing at the h's or her small niece's antics!!
At times the book had a chick-lit vibe which I hate, so reduced a star for that but apart from that it was a feel-good read. People who enjoy romances with kids will like this as the 4 yr old was just adorable!

I have loved all of the other books in this series, so I have eagerly anticipated this one. I was in no way disappointed. My So Called Life had all the humor and sarcasm that I've come to love from these witty heroines and macho yet sweet and sexy as hell men, and even more. It had ALL THE FEELS!!!!

Chrissy is ready to ditch her sort of fiancé, because, really, he's a dick. As she's trying to summon the nerve, she receives a devastating call from back home…

I’ve loved the two previous books in this series, and so I thought I knew what to expect. I was looking forward to some fun, sexy times and humour. What I got was so much more!
This was a beautifully heartbreaking story of one little girl who has her life turned upside down in the cruellest of twists, and the woman who never she existed.

I laughed, I cried, I got goose bumps and then I cried some more while reading this book. Pippa stole my heart, as did Chrissy and Ian, and I wasn’t read

This book was a lot of fun! I loved the lighthearted tone intermingled with the heart wrenching side of things. The humour did not feel forced in any way. In this story, Christina returns to her home town after tragedy strikes her sister Amy. While there, she is thrust into caring for a newly orphaned child, Pippa, and is also faced with the man she left behind when she fled six years earlier.

I loved Christina’s character. Although she had been through a lot and was experiencing an emotional up

My So Called Life did not start off as funny as the other two books in the Love Not Included series, however, my expectations were exceeded beyond measure. Once you get into this book and get to understand the characters, the one-liners are laugh out loud funny. I was laughing so hard I had to stop reading and grab tissues to wipe the tears coming from m

Wow such an amazing book I laughed, cried, laughed some more cried some more and laughed some more. This book is full of emotion and it will have your heart strings pulled in so many ways.
Chrissy has left Ashford behind her and now settled in California and her career is taking off, a man she thinks she loves she has everything she ever wanted. Until tragedy strikes and now she is heading back to a past she would rather forget. And if her emotions weren't high enough now her ex Ian is around and

My so called life. Another amazing story in the series. This yummy story has all the elements - fun, tragedy, overcoming obstacles, laughter, prince and princesses from a cute fairy tale, all building up to a happily ever after.
There wasn't a dull moment and the plot kept me immersed. I took my time reading this story, absorbing the little moments between the characters and living their nightmares.

I only wish it was a bit fast paced. Towards the end I wanted the plot to move faster then the det

This story wrecked me. I've cried, laughed, blushed. Christina didn't have a great childhood she left thinking that's what she had to do, she left behind a sister and the love of her life.
Christina is at the top of the world or at least she thinks she is. Christina has it all money, boyfriend. dream job and great friends. Then she gets the call that sends her back home to the love of her life Ian and 4 year old who steals her

J. D. Hollyfield is a savant playing the heartstrings!!!!!

I cannot say enough about this book!! It is definitely an emotional rollercoaster but what a ride!! There is an HEA but you will work for it. I think I experienced every emotion there is on this journey. If you've read the other books in the Love Not Included series you know the laugh out loud humor Jessica writes, however she has stepped up her game and added Ugly Cry to her playbook. This is one of the best books I have read, probably e

3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Very nice second chance love story where a girl comes home when her sister (and husband) are killed in a car crash and must face her former high school love and the daughter she never knew her sister even had. There were a few times I wanted to punch this woman in the face for being so stupid (which she even admitted to herself in numerous "self to self" inner thought moments). Here she is faced with a gorgeous guy who loves her to death and has been waiting for her to ...more

First, I have to say I love the title and the cover! J.D. Hollyfield did wonderful on this aspect. Second, I loved this story. Second chance at life, what some people are looking for after what they thought they wanted in life turns south. This was my first book by this author, and I have to say, I loved it! It made me laugh, brought tears to my eyes in certain spots, and ended with a HEA. I will definately be reading this author from now on! :)

I love me a second chance romance and My So Called Life is the perfect balm for my soul! This is the third book is this authors Love Not Included series and it is probably my favorite so far.

I love the history between Christina and Ian, and Pippa is amazing and sure to make you smile throughout! Christina’s best friend Lexi was a hoot and added something great to this story.

Have I ever said I love books by J.D. Hollyfield? Yeah, well this book made my love grow, I'm not kidding! this book not only has humor, but also unconditional love, forgiveness and second chances, oh! and many pancakes!

J.D. Hollyfield’s books just keep getting better and better. I honestly can’t remember how I was introduced to her novels – it might have been from another, much larger blog. Who cares? Bottom line, any author that describes herself as a “Reader, Writer, Wine Abuser” is A-OK in my book! I really enjoy her writing and find that each book is better than the one before it. As a fan of her Facebook page, I was able to get an Advance Reader Copy on the day of the release and really should have poste ...more

First thing: My biggest problem with this book was Christina. For my reasons why keep on reading!

I wish I had a lot of good things to say about this book, except I’d be lying. Out of the three books in this series, this is my least favorite.

My main problem with the book is Christina. I don’t like her much. And by much I mean that I started to like her a bit more at the end of the book. But honestly, it was too late by then. I did however, really liked what she did

I have not read any of JD Hollyfield’s other books, and I did not realize that My So Called Life is the third book in a series. The writing is technically good, but the story premise has been done to death, and I found the lead character, Christina, to be wholly unlikable. Perhaps if a reader is vested in the series, she might have more empathy for the lead character.

Let me start this off by saying, I read this book on a plane all by myself. The guy next to me, must have thought I was crazy because I was sniffling the entire flight. What an emotional read this book was. Especially if you have children of your own!

Christina has an awesome life. She has a great job, great clothes and an OK boyfriend.... well to be honest, he is kind of a jerk, but he is rich. Then one night she receives a phone call that changes everything. Her sister was killed in a

This is yet another humdinger of a book from JD Hollyfield
It is not all plain sailing it will both lighten and break your heart at times but what it will do is allow you to exercise almost every emotion that you possess – it is delightful.
Chrissy looks like she is a woman with everything, she has a great job and an amazing boyfriend but is everything as it seems? The one things she doesn’t have is the one things she wants more than anything else. Someone who loves and

There are people who aren’t strong enough to face the reality of life…. hardships, emotional & physical abuse from people they least expect….. And there are some who really knows what their hearts really want.

Hollyfield didn’t let us down, I really think this is one of her best books yet! She will have you clinging to your tissues, laughing as you turn a page.
It all started when Christina decides she wants to leave her life behind, including her boyfriend. She felt like all she did was cause problems, or make people’s life worse with her in it. She moves to California begins a new journey. She found a guy, Brent, which by the way

J. D. Hollyfield is one of my freaking heroes! Her ability to tell a heartwrenching yet witty story is virtually unparalelled.

The first chapters of MSCL has me busting a gut, but then suddenly, I was busting out the tissues.

Ian is an amazing main character. So many books have alpha’s (and we love them, don’t get me wrong) that it was refreshing to find a BBF that is… wait for it… a normal guy!! Hot? Yes! Assertive in bed? Oh, yeah! Little mister bossy asshole that expects you to understand

I received an ARC from the author.  JD Hollyfield never fails to disappoint.  Her writing shows her witty sense of humor, as you find yourself chuckling throughout her books.  My So-Called Life was no different than the first two in the series in that regard.  They can be read as stand-alones, as the characters are all different.  I will admit that at first, I couldn’t stand the main character, but I think that was what the author was going for, painting a picture of this rather snobby, pretenti ...more
