Scott Lang, AKA Ant-Man, might be the smalles Super Hero, but he has the biggest heart. At times, though, he doubts how "super" his super power really is when compared to Thor's mighty hammer, Hulk's incredible strength, and Iron Man's fancy, high-tech equipment. Although Scott is not impressed with his talents, he eventually learns to value his skills rather than take them for granted, because no matter how big or small his help is, his teammates always appreciate when Ant-Man gets the job done.

Though this is a younger read, I still enjoyed it quite a bit! In my eyes, you can never be too old for anything involving Marvel. Since Ant-Man is one of my favorite heroes, I had to read this. I love anything with the Avengers, and the plot line of this short story was too funny! Ant-Man is so underrated. I also really liked all the artwork throughout this book. All in all, this was a creative short novel- a solid 4 stars!
My son LOVES this pre-release copy! He has requested it as his bedtime book night after night and is working hard to be able to read it by himself. Loves the hero and can't wait for the movie!
At the end of the school year I purchased this from Scholastic. I have been looking to beef up my classroom library in terms of books that boys may prefer (not that girls can't read this and enjoy it). I have also noted that my son has not been reading as much at home lately. I thought this might spur him on.
Now that the classroom library is completely online, I decided to check the book out this morning.
It's a quick read. It's a Marvel Chapter Book, but it reads easily. Scott Lang is Ant-Man in this. He notices some weird behavior among the ants. He quickly ascertains it's a virus . . . one that can affect humans. He brings it to the Avengers, but they mostly pay him no mind, save Dr. Banner.
Banner confirms Scott's findings. Soon Iron Man is bitten by an ant. That turns him into a zombie. Zombies are taking over NYC. For some reason, only Banner can inject Iron Man with the antidote. He is shrunk and enters Iron Man's blood stream. They confirm the antidote works. Once out, Black Widow is infected.
The plan is to have Banner turn into the Hulk and chase the zombies to Madison Square Garden where Scott will spray the antidote on everyone.
Throughout is the feelgood message that one needs to believe in himself even if others don't. Clearly, this is written for children.
This Mighty Marvel Chapter Books gets a whopping five stars! Scott Lang AKA Ant-Man is small in size, but doesn't feel he compares to his Superhero colleagues. He manages to hold his own when he is able to thwart a league of zombies who are created by a virus of the undead which started in an ant colony in Central Park! New York City is filled with zombies who were once tiny ants! As the ants bite humans, the virus continues to spread and becomes an Epidemic of gigantic proportions. Ant-Man comes to the rescue by providing an antivirus that nullifies the Zombie Apocolypse in New York City! This book will not stay on the shelves!
Althought this book is meant for Kids, as an Ant-Man fan is a "must read". I've always love when people learn not to underestimate him. He's bigger than his size shows and more important than he (and everyone else) thinks he is.
I wanted to love this because it's my beloved Scott Lang, but it's a very standard zombie story more than it's an Ant-Man story. It's fine, but nothing special, and disappointing as a Marvel story.
My knowledge of ant man is limited to the fact that he is a geezer who becomes as small as an ant or some such guff and lo and behold he saves the universe or some such other guff - anyway this one complete with zombie guff did not improve my knowledge of the afore mentioned hero greatly - very average and by the numbers hero book and instantly forgettable.
In this science fiction meet hero story, Scott Lang, a former electronics expert turned criminal is transformed into a hero by a famous scientist, Dr. Hank Pym. Using “Pym Particles” Dr. Pym is able to shrink Scott to the size of an ant which possesses incredible strength, and use him for good instead of evil. Ant-Man, now a fledgling hero must use his power to save the people of New York from a deadly virus.
As the story begins, “Scott Lang, the astonishing Ant-Man” is strolling through Central Park on a very beautiful day. As with any other day, people are strolling through the park, having picnics, and taking pictures. However, Ant-Man is aware of the world beneath his feet and is “paying close attention to the insects.” Ant-Man possesses the ability to communicate with insects, and soon realizes that something is amiss. Ant-Man also possesses the ability to shrink from a normal size to an insect, so he transforms to the size of a bug and enters an anthill where he observes unusual behavior among the ants: they are all standing still. Absent is the normal hustle and bustle. He soon discovers that there is a virus, which if left unchecked could spread to humans. Ant-Man realizes that he must act fast to stop the spread of the deadly virus.
Ant-Man reaches out to Iron Man and other Avengers but they are too busy solving other crimes, and really do not take him seriously. With the help of another scientist, Banner, who when angry becomes the Incredible Hulk, Scott must find a cure for the infected insects. However, before they can act, many people are stung by the insects and have become Zombies.
The now living undead starts haunting the city. When Iron Man is stung and becomes one of the living undead, all of the other heroes band together to fight the growing army of Zombies. But it is not easy. Dr. Banner eventually develops a cure and must find a way to heal Iron Man and the infected New Yorkers. How will they return the living undead and stop them from turning others into Zombies? It will not be easy.
This science fiction story leans heavily towards modern day hero adventure story. The plot is fast moving and full of action and suspense. The major characters are a combination of modern day heroes and ordinary citizens. The pictures are engaging and authentic to the action, theme and words in the story. This easy chapter book is an easy read, engaging and fun. This is one in a series of Mighty Marvel books.
Scott Lang can communicate with insects and Shrink as Ant Man. This power comes in handy when a deadly virus spreads through New York City. The virus turns normal ants into living zombies. Some of Earth's Mightiest Heroes become infected! I would recommend this for any collection with fans of the Marvel comic books. The illustrations are nice and the story flows smoothly and keeps the readers attention.
