Do you sometimes like reading a nice romance, a sweet story but with a little grit in it even if you think you know the ending? Then this is the book for you.

This is the story of Cora, she hasn't had much freedom of choice at all, she has a domineering Mother, a fiance who rules her life from one step to another.

She has to travel on her own, leave everything that is familiar to her, she's not adverse to doing this but realizes she cannot do this journey alone as its treacherous, but she needs to

A very captivating story. I had a grandfather and great grandfather who were in the first stampede. I just made up 3 scrapbooks tracing their trek up the Chilkoot Pass to Lake Bennett or Lake Lunderman (not sure of the name right now) where they tented for 10 mo, then the boated up the Yukon River after it thawed enough to travel on to Dawson. They had claims out on the Forty Mile River. So this story brought to life for me my families story all the more. From what I have learned of the trip it ...more

Hothouse Flower & the Irish Man

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book. This was an adventure for Cora, a timid young woman who decided to defy her mother when she learned of her estranged father's death. She was told he didn't love her that he had left her to run away with a woman & had forgotten all about her. She made a rash decision to travel to the Klondike upon learning her father had left his gold mine to her. Flynn O'Neill tries to convince her to return home to Tac

Fun read good tension

This first book I’ve read with the Klondike Gold Rush setting. I enjoyed the characters, wondering if the woman would get herself or both of them killed before they reached their destination.

In The Land of Gold is the first book I would classify as Adult that I actually enjoyed the whole way through. Typically I don’t read these kinds of stories, they just never really appealed to me. Now, I might reconsider that whole I’m not a fan of Adult literature because I really loved this story! Oh, and one more thing this book didn’t have many Adult themes in my opinion, th

In the Land of Gold by Angela Christina Archer is a quaint, clean romance about the love between a gold miner’s daughter and the Irish trail guide who leads her through Canada and up into the Klondike. The story was short, fast-paced, and easy to read.

Technically speaking, the book was fairly well written. At times the narrative could be a little wordy and overdone—there were sentence fragments, missing/misused words, and a few issues with the tense, but most of these incidences were small and e

This novel is a page turner! I got completely wrapped up in the adventure. Cora is a well-rounded character that possesses a depth and realness it was easy to believe I was her going on this journey. I had to keep reading, page after page, yet I was sad when I reached the end because I wasn't ready to part ways with Cora. ...more

Decently good adventure with a little romance.

Flynn and Cora are the two main characters in this story and Flynn was the real hero in my opinion. Cora not so much but her flippant decisions made for an interesting story. The relationship between these two was strained for most of the story. I wanted more romance to happen between them, which finally came at t end.
