The second volume of the English translation of Attack on Titan: Junior High was even more hilarious than the first. It should be stated that these are 2-in-1 omnibus formats for this English release, so it's really Volumes 3 & 4 of the manga here.

The gags continue, but as in volume one, there is an actual story with gags and maybe something deeper. Mystery is afoot, but even that mystery is light-hearted compared to the main series dark fantasy and post-apocalyptic setting.

This volume introduces Mr. Smith, Commander Erwin Smith's analogue in the JH universe. He seems to be a parody of Mormons or other conservative Christians. But it is done affectionately. He's also smart, charismatic, a brilliant fighter... and he hates them Titans as much as Eren does. His introduction furthers the story.

I laughed at this parody and will definitely pick up future English releases.

Highly Recommended for any AoT fan who doesn't mind some fun parody.

Eren along with those who joined the survey club finally meet the sponsor of the club who is a really nice guy who in some ways has helped a student in a point where they saw no exit and now they all spend a night together to spy on the Titans. Berthold finally has the couraage to talk to annie in the summer festival but it doesnt go as planned, hanji usus mikes great smelly sense to find hanji some bugs but he ends up smelling food which has a somewhat tragic to story to it, someone stole armins blanket and he can't live without it, the school dues a uniform check which results in a suspencion for the wall beutification club so they follow the rules (?), the titan comes and takes their lunches and eren is angry, and our females characters are put to a somewhat test on their cooking skills in the cooking club. This manga is just a mess and parody but that is what makes it special, with each chapter a different story full of comedy. I love this manga because it makes you laugh. I recommend it if you read Attack on Titan and want something to relieve you from all those deaths.

Far more hilarious than the first volume, making me laugh out loud several times, even after hearing about the sad death of a friend's cat while reading. Perhaps they hired better translators? Now that the atmosphere is established, this volume seems to be much less annoying in terms of focusing on the deplorable aspects of the main characters and making fun of them, and instead making fun of the absurdity of situation. It reminds me a lot of the evolution of Big Bang Theory. It was far easier for me to enjoy as these aspects of quirkiness are accepted and used for the plot.

The second half of the volume was not as good as the first half, but still seemed ok.

I didn't like this volume as much as the first one. (Although you certainly get a lot of manga for your money!) Sometimes the jokes dragged on too long or felt weird because they were Americanized. (I get it--we probably wouldn't understand Japanese pop culture jokes in the West, but this felt weird.)

This was stupid funny. That's a compliment, by the way. I like the SnK manga, but it just gets depressing or (yeah I'm gonna say it) boring. Nice to see the characters in a different light.
