I was sent this ebook to review for the Review Group.

I'm afraid I found it very hard to grasp any of the concepts in the book. From the outset, the "experiences" that the main character is having are not clearly explained in any type of reality that I understand. I couldn't relate to the experiences or the concept of alternative realities in time and space. The main problem is that the character describes his reaction to an amazing experience in his mind but doesn't say what it is or what actual

I was unable to gain anything from this book at all. As a science teacher whose main subject is Physics, and who long ago lost any belief in spiritualism, mysticism or God, I found this a difficult and often irritating read. It had sections with the usual references to “pseudo-science” often found in tracts of this type, which seem to be added in order to justify certain vaguely scientific statements. For example in an earlier section of the book it would appear that the “guiding voice” is attem ...more

God Child is a thought-provoking book, which describes the spiritual evolution of a priest by means of a conversation he has with an omniscient voice in his mind. The priest comes to realize that his current understanding of the Bible is based on its literal and historical messages, yet a deeper interpretation is needed to fully realize its implications and directives. This deeper knowledge can be obtained when one understands the Bible's underlying symbolism and historical context. This symboli ...more

This book confused me greatly. It did not tell me a story or explain something in the realm of existence as one commonly knows it. I suppose it might be taken as the record of meditations on a series of mystical experiences. I looked at the many illustrations, some of which I recognized but they provided no indication of what I should expect to find.

The author writes lucidly but left me thinking, I know he is writing in English but I don't have a clue as to what he is saying. At one point, he ma

GOD CHILD is a brave attempt to articulate the mystical experience of a person's individual spiritual awakening. Listed as "spiritual fiction" GOD CHILD is more a didactic epistle than it is a novel, so any reader expecting definite plot and character arcs will not find them.

However, much of the content is thought-provoking and succeeds admirably in conveying the main protagonist's epiphany and resulting search for spiritual truth through the "cloud of unknowing."

At times opaque, because of the

The Bible can be interpreted in various ways, right or wrong, for it has many layers of meaning. We can read the stories for entertainment, solace, or lessons offered. Or we can discover a deeper spiritual message through symbols. In God Child, a fictional pastor records his conversations with a spiritual voice who leads him, and possibly us, to the Grand Awakening.

Told in first person, the pastor's entries tend to jump from one topic to another, so the reader is entranced by one entry, only to

Unfortunately, 'God Child' is simply not a work of fiction. What loose fictional elements it does have are rarely believable, and in the end, it is a textbook on Mr. Emunds's re-imagining of a spiritual Christianity.

It is mainly a long monologue (I say monologue because the protagonist and teacher are insufficiently differentiated from one another in either vocabulary or accent) stuffed with ideas and terms surrounding these re-imagined ideas which I fear are too plainly presented for the averag

This book got me thinking who God really is and what kind of deity he really is. I found this book easy to read since I did read it in one night. It was well written.
