I don't know if it's fair to write a review on a book I couldn't finish. In fact, I quit about 3 sentences into chapter 4. Why? Good question! I'll tell you.
First off, the first two chapters, set in 1869, were totally unnecessary. And they, as well as the following chapter, were way too verbose. I loved this book quite a lot. It was a great read for me, a story that kept me right there between its pages. Our main characters meet when an intimate relationship is out of the question, but years later they come together when tragedy hits them both. But there are people who do not desire their happiness. There are traps, deceiving and there is envy.
