Read two of the short stories;

Sweet As Cake by Bria Quinlan/Caitie Quinn

A short story (link to Brew Ha Ha series) of Maddie and Adam's 'getting back together' while Maddie is preparing her famous unadulterated super secret Cherry Chocolate Heaven recipe for Dalton Reddy, the famous rock God.

"I bet he takes one bite of your secret recipe and proposes."

A Sweet Affair by Elle Casey

A standalone short story of Anna, the owner of A Sweet Affair bakery, and Alex, a great pastry chef and a Greek "god" who wants to land a job in Anna's bakery.

While Anna is having a bakery crisis, Alex lent a hand in order to fulfill Anna's cake orders. All this not knowing Anna is the owner. While waiting for the cakes to be fluffy and baked, they did the 'deed'. Then, once the orders are fulfilled, Alex left with his CV.

Insta-lust. And what a user Alex is.

Alwaysland is a prequel to Rock Stars in Disguise: Xan. I would recommend reading What a Girl Wants first, this is where we are introduced to all the band members. Xan in both What a Girl Wants and Alwaysland, initially comes across as arrogant and can be abrupt with people. Alwaysland gives us a glimpse into Xans past. Xan goes after Natasha hoping to convince her into going on tour with him.
As always Blairs books show a hidden depth to her characters, endearing them to us. We see another side to Xan, I felt Xan's head and heart were going in different directions
Who is Natasha?
Will she go on the road with Xan?
Will Xan get his happy ending?
Alwaysland is a short story packed with emotion and sensuality. As the saying goes 'Good things come in small packages!'

A complimentary copy of Alwaysland was given in exchange for an honest review. I also purchased LOL2 as its a great way to find new authors and its a great value bundle, not to be missed!

I really only bought this book for the Rachel Schurig portion - re: Sofie and Jackson.

At first I really only wanted to read about Sofie and Jackson because I wasn't ready to completely move on from Lizzie and Thomas.

However, by the end I was LOVING Sofie and Jackson. So adorable these two. I can't wait to see how it will all pan out in the full length version coming later this spring. I will also be overjoyed to hear about Lizzie and Thomas and I will be a bit sad to not be living it from Lizzie's point of view, but this Sofie and Jackson line has some heat which was missing at times from Lizzie and Thomas. Hope it keeps up!

Adorbs and two thumbs up.

Eventually I will read the other stories but they are unimportant currently to my London/Thomas obsession.

Just finished Take the Cake and Run by Daisy Prescott. Love to see more of John and his girl, and this time they have cake! (and boy do they have cake. Holy goodness do they.) If you haven't read her Modern Love series, this little slice (get it?) will make you want to dive in!

SAVING THE CAKE - VICTORIA WESSEX
RATING: 5 Stars

Curvy baker Jessica is supposed to be baking the cake for the upcoming royal wedding. However, she’s freaking out worrying about the details. When Donovan, the roguish, hot news reporter comes to interview her, things get interesting. Jessica and Donovan end up doing some baking of their own in the kitchen.

I loved both characters and thought this was a really cute story. Donovan was a sweetie and Jessica was a great female lead.

SOFIE AND THE MOVIE STAR - RACHEL SCHURIG
RATING: 4 Stars

Sofie is six months pregnant with no man in her life and her self esteem has taken a hit. She’s a bridesmaid in her cousin’s wedding and dealing with snide comments from her family. When the groom’s best friend Jackson, an international movie star shows up, Sofie can’t look away. Turns out Jackson feels the same way. A dance, a supply closet, and a wedding gift mess are in store.

This was a sweet story. Jackson was great male lead and although the story ends in a happy place, it could actually go further if the author wanted it to.

A SWEET AFFAIR - ELLE CASEY
RATING: 4 Stars

Mary-Ann owns a bakery and is having a stressful day when a sexy stranger by the name of Alex walks in. A number of her employees are out sick leaving her way behind on finishing cake orders. When Mary-Ann accepts Alex’s offer to help, she gets more than just help with the baking.

Another cute story. Alex was mysterious and sexy which added to the story.

JUST CAN'T FORGET YOU - GRETCHEN GALWAY
RATING: 3.5 Stars

Melissa has put her past behind her, moved and started a new job. When she encounters Eduardo, a man she counted on during a bad time in her life years ago, she tries to avoid him. But sometimes people from our past are what’s best for our future.

Melissa fights their attraction a little harder than necessary. I liked Eddie and his honest approach about keeping Melissa now that he’s found her again.

SWEET AS CAKE - CAITIE QUINN
RATING: 4 Stars

Maddie is in the middle of baking her winning secret recipe for rock star Dalton Reddy, when Adam, her ex-boyfriend who dumped her, shows up. On what could be the most important day of her life, Adam tries to tell her he made a mistake. Will she agree to give him a second chance?

I liked Adam well enough as a character, but with the back story we were provided, I was personally rooting for Dalton, the rock star. You’ll have to read to see who she picked.

TAKE THE CAKE AND RUN - DAISY PRESCOTT
RATING: 5 Stars

John and Diane are getting married. When John loses a pool bet to Diane, he’ll have to go to a cake testing at a pink frufru bakery. Who knew icing and raspberry sauce could be so entertaining.

I genuinely loved these characters. I understand their story started in another book(s) so I’ll be looking for those to see more of these characters.

ALWAYSLAND - BLAIR BABYLON
RATING: 3 Stars

Xan has been touring with his rock band, but misses Natasha, his girlfriend terribly. He’s ready to propose and ask her to tour with him. Sometimes what we want isn’t what’s best.

I liked Xan a lot and thought he was a hot, sweetheart of a boyfriend. Natasha, meh...not so much. She was cold and was more concerned about getting off with her cello.

CRIME & CAKE - N.M. SILBER
RATING: 5 Stars

Sarah was only doing her friend a favor when she agreed to dress up as Marilyn Monroe and jump out of a cake. Turns out the birthday boy is an 85 year old mob boss. When the cops show up and raid the place, Sarah sees Matt, a fellow public defender. She hopes he doesn’t recognize her, but of course, she’s not so lucky. Matt and Sarah have some serious chemistry in court. Find out what happens when they take it out of the courtroom.

I’m a huge fan of this series and have loved every character so far. You should read the others in this series if you haven’t already.

RANDOMLY EVER AFTER - JULIA KENT
RATING: 3.5 Stars

Sam plans to finally propose to Amy tonight. A wardrobe mixup and identity mistake causes an unnecessary blip in his plan. Will Sam be able to fix it?

Unfortunately, Im not familiar with this couple and had a little trouble following along. Towards the end of the story, it’s was better. Loved Sam. He’s a sweetie and it was understandable his reaction to what he saw. I thought Amy should have apologized since she was the cause of the drama.

THEN WE KISSED - JULIET SPENSER
RATING: 5 Stars

Charlotte fell in love with Brad, a US Army Captain several months before he was deployed. One drunken night while he was gone, she wrote him a love letter confessing her true feelings and mailed it. Now Brad’s back. She wakes up after a drunken night at the bar in his arms naked in the woods. Charlotte can’t remember the night before so she panics and leaves. That night while delivering a cake she made for a wedding reception, there’s a scene where she ends up with Brad again. What she can’t understand is why he never responded to her letter.

I loved this story. Both Charlotte and Brad were great characters and there was humor in this story as well. I’ll have to read the other books written by this author in this series to see what I’ve missed.

Just okay stories.

The majority of these shorts belonged to a series and most were stand-alone stories. I had a hard time getting through them. The just didn't grab my attention.

Review of Someone To Love (Rock Stars In Disguise: Tryp)

Tryp is "tripping" fantastic - 5++ stars

I first 'met' Tryp when I read What A Girl Wants (Rock Stars in Disguise: Rhiannon), along with the other members of the band. I was so happy to see him get his own story, because there was soooo much that I wanted to know about him. He had just recently turned 21, so he was the youngest member of the band and he was cocky. I thoroughly enjoyed his friendship with Rhiannon and his quirky behavior.

In this book, we get to learn all about his past, where he came from, what cards life has dealt him and why he's slowly killing himself with all the drugs and booze. Although I don't remember 'meeting' Elfie in that first book, she has been with the band for the last two years as one of the techs, dealing with the pyros.

What happened in Tryp's past to put him on his current path of destruction. What is Elfie running from and how did she end up being in a position of having to pour Tryp's drunk arse into bed. What nightmares are they both trying to deal with. There are so many things I would like to talk about here, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone else. Just believe me when I say you DON'T want to miss this one. It put some things into perspective for me and makes me want to do something to help the situations that are being dealt with, not simply as a religious person, but as a decent human being.

There is no cliff hanger and this is considered a stand-alone novel inside the Rock Stars in Disguise Series. You don't have to read any of the other books to get the story, but I would definitely recommend that you read the books in order. Blair does a good job of weaving her characters in and out of all of her series, not just this particular one. This book didn't flow the way all of her other books have, but I think it was simply because this was Tryp's story and not a duplicate of her other works.

They’ve done it again; brought together some of today’s most promising and best selling authors in the field of romantic comedy in one phenomenal boxed set, this time with 10 all new stories ranging from sweet to spicy, all keeping with the theme of cake. In LOL Volume 2, you’ll see short stories from Victoria Wessex, Rachel Schurig, Elle Casey, Gretchen Galway, Caitie Quinn, Daisy Prescott, Blair Babylon, N.M. Silber, and Julia Kent (my personal favorite – the “Her Billionaires” series rocks!). Some of the stories are connected to other well known series by the authors such as Gretchen Galway’s Oakland Hills series, Caitie Quinn’s Brew Ha Ha series, Daisy Prescott’s Modern Love Stories, Blair Babylon’s Rock Stars in Disguise series, and Julia Kent’s Random Acts of Crazy series (phenomenal series btw) but every story is easily understandable and highly enjoyable on its own merits.

I found myself immediately drawn into each and every story and although each story wrapped up nicely, I was always left wanting more. Not every story ends in HEA, but they all ended just as they should have for that particular story. There are no confusing or disappointing endings or cliffhangers. I’m glad that some of these stories are connected to other series by the authors so that I can continue the exploration of the new worlds these authors have opened up to me. Trust me, once you start reading this book, you won’t want to put it down... unless of course it is to continue a particular story in the author’s larger series. Even then, you can’t help but be drawn back to LOL Volume 2 until you’ve read each and every story at least once.

I was very fortunate to receive this box set as a gift from Julia Kent...her story Ramdonly Ever After is part of it. I have read all of her books which includes all of the Ramdon series and love them all...they have some laugh out loud moments, some tears and of course some very hot sexy moments as does this story which focuses on Amy and Sam. This story is a novella and it includes some familiar faces...Darla..Joe..Trevor and Liam with the famous blow up doll and the mention of a certain chicken! I promise not to reveal secrets as that will spoil it for those of you who wish to read this yet another great story written by Ms. Kent. She is the author in this box set that I am most familiar with but I did enjoy the stories included by Elle Casey, Victoria Wessex and Rachel Schurig just to mention a few. I highly recommend this new box set and of course any and all of Julia Kent's books..I promise you will not be disappointed as she is an amazing author. Thank you Julia Kent for once again keeping me entertained and as always wanting more..

Alwaysland - prequel to Rock Stars in Disguise This set is a fantastic value

This review is for Alwaysland by Blair Babylon.

This is a pretty short story and doesn’t really have a cliffhanger but you probably will be left with the feeling that you’d like to find out more about Xan’s story after this one ends.

Xan is the frontman for the band Killer Valentine. The band was introduced in the stand-along story What A Girl Wants but you don’t need to have read that story to enjoy this one.

For such a short story Blair Babylon really included a lot of stuff: love, steamy scenes, and heartache. This was definitely a great introduction to the Rock Stars in Disguise world.

An ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review but I also purchased the set because it's a great value.

Although I haven't read Julia Kent's Randomly Ever After yet I am sure it will be great. I have read and loved all of her other "Random" stories.

I purchased this anthology for the stories of NM Silber and Daisy Prescott. They are two of my favorite authors, and they did not disappoint!
Silber's Crime & Cake is in her Lawyers in Love universe, but with new characters. Sarah and Matt are both attorneys. They meet in an unconventional way, but that sexy spark is there from the get go. A case of mistaken identity, a crime boss, and some courtroom tension make this another hit for Silber. Cannot wait to see more of these two as characters in the world of Lawyers in Love!
Prescott's Take the Cake and Run features Diane and John Day (yummo!) from Ready to Fall, book 2 in Modern Love Stories. I love these two! After everyone's favorite lumberjack proposed, they are off to the bakery to pick out the wedding cake. John is delightfully awkward in the small, pink store and the heat between he and Diane is served with a side of frosting. A great short story that was hilarious and sexy!

(Kindle Edition)

I have to tell you that, so far, I've only read Crime & Cake by N.m. Silber but, if the rest are anywhere as good, then I will definitely enjoy them, too. I LOVE Ms. Silber's books and novellas because you can't make it thru a single page without laughing. Crime & Cake is no different. It is a novella about Sarah, a lawyer with The Defender's Association and Matt, an assist DA. Sarah has had a "thing" for Matt for a while but, he is unaware. Then Sarah does a favor for a friend by dressing as Marilyn Monroe, jumping out of a cake and giving the 85 yr. old birthday boy a cigar. The party is raided and Sarah runs into Matt as she's trying to sneak out the back door. The Hilarity ensues as these two start spending more time together in court, some people try to steal the cigar, Sarah's friend is set up with Matt's friend A beer garden, girl, a 6'2" Cher and a human hot dog get involved. I could go on and on but, I'm sure you get the idea!

John Day can't believe that is he is getting married with Diane, something he never thought he would ever do. He knew he was doing the right thing because she was the love of his life.

Diane has landed a gorgeous alpha male lumberjack, and she can't believe she's getting married to John, the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.

John is not used to all this girly stuff you have to do for the wedding and he will have to get a grip and do what he has to do for Diane.

But how far can he go and how far can Diane push him?

You will love this short story, it is funny yet there is a steamy scene that will leave you panting. I personally love John Day and I am happy to read more about his approaching nuptials!!!

Price: $0.99
436 print pages, eBook Edition
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Short Story

I was given an ARC for this review by one of my favorite authors, Rachel Schurig and though I have only read two out of the ten authors in this book, namely Rachel Schurig and Gretchen Galway, I was surprised by the other authors in this boxed set. I especially enjoyed Saving The Cake by Victoria Wessex, Sofie And The Movie Star by Rachel Schurig, A Sweet Affair by Elle Casey, Just Can’t Forget You by Gretchen Galway, Sweet As Cake by Caitie Quinn, and Crime And Cake by N.M. Silber. Enjoying 6 out of 9 stories (because the ARC did not have Juliet Spencer’s story) is a pretty good deal.

This is a combination of sweet, sexy and funny and I definitely recommend it.

Get this follow-up to LOL #1 while you can!

The second volume of LOL Romantic Comedy Anthology has 10 new short stories by authors from LOL #1. Once again, each is a stand-alone story with no cliff-hangers.

One of my favorite authors, Julia Kent, contributed 'Randomly Ever After. It's a sweet, short about Sam's proposal to Amy from the Random Acts series.

I also especially liked Gretchen Galway's 'Just Can't Forget You', Victoria Wessex's 'Saving the Cake', N.M. Silber's 'Crime & Cake', and Daisy Prescott's 'Take the Cake and Run'.

If you're looking for some sexy and, in some cases very funny, 'mini' reads, you won't go wrong with this collection. It's a great way to discover new authors.

I only had a chance to read Crime and Cake A Lawyers in Love short story by N.M. Silber but if the rest are as good as that one this is a five star anthology. I will leave my review of Crime and Cake to give you an idea.
What a really good short story it truly is laugh out loud funny. I thought these two were going to wind up passionately attacking each other in the middle of the courtroom from the sexual tension. I loved how she was such a tiger in the courtroom and very flirty while in costume which really got her into trouble. i loved how when he recognized her he didn't get her into trouble and make her lose her job. I can't wait to read more of these two in the future.

I really enjoy these rom com anthologies, and Daisy Prescott's stories are always the icing on the proverbial cake! Daisy's dose this time around, TAKE THE CAKE AND RUN, brought back one of my favorite characters of all time, Sexy Lumberjack John Day and his fiancee Diane, from her Modern Love Story, READY TO FALL! Diane and John are in the midst of planning their wedding and go to a cake tasting... where imaginations begin to run wild and happy naughty thoughts are born and sprung into action... I devoured this story and am looking forward to reading the rest in this great collection!! Woot Woot!

I read Sophie and Movie star by Rachel Schurig and loved it!!! This is such a great short read. All of these Author's are great so for 99 cents, you are getting a steal!! Jackson and Sofie are such a good match for each other and waste no time getting to know each other. Jackson has his eye on Sofie and makes his move quickly. To get to see this side of Jackson in this book is different because you get the idea that he is just a stuck up movie star and no one likes him. Not the case for him and Sofie. He falls hard for her and treats her well. I am anxious to see where Rachel takes this relationship in her next books! Thanks Rachel for another great read!!

Some of the stories were too short and although they were stand alone novellas some didn't feel quite complete. There were 3 that held my attention and left me feeling like I had read a mini book and was satisfied. One was by N. M. Silber, whose novellas are always longer than average so you always feel like you're getting your money's worth, then there was `Then we kissed' by Juliet Spenser, which was a lovely little story and very touching, and the final one was `Randomly ever after: Sam and Amy. Although I haven't read their novel I really enjoyed the characters and I still enjoyed it even though there were references to things that happened in the novel.

Let them eat cake!
I picked this up for Julia Kent's Random Acts story, but I was pleasantly surprised that the rest of stories were well written and no cliffhangers. Cake is the theme, I really enjoyed each story and character I met in this literary journey.
In Ms. Kent's installment, Sam and Amy get engaged. But in true Random Acts fashion nothing goes as planned. You will laugh at all of the fun this group of characters bring to each storyline. From chickens to blow up dolls the humor is a constant.
A fun and entertaining anthology. A great feel good read.

She always brings funny and witty to the table with her characters and this novella is no expectation. This time around we got to read about Amy and Sam, but got to visit with a few of our old pals as well. If you want to have a fun filled night grab up this anthology NOW!!

Review for Blair Babylon's Alwaysland.

Who would have thought that workaholic Xan Valentine, the vocalist of the famous band Killer Valentine, has a romantic side.
Xan's story is intriguing, such that there are some undertones in it that would keep you holding your breath until you find out the real deal.

The story is sweet and sexy, that you would wish for your very own Xan Valentine, right that moment.

It has the Blair Babylon trademark, a great romance story that will throw you off the loop and keep you hooked for more.

Awesome Collection

Randomly Ever After: Sam and Amy
This is the only story I've read thus far. I have really enjoyed this series. It's romantic, funny, sad, kooky at times. I'm so happy Sam and Amy are getting their HEA. Sam really deserves to have someone love him unconditionally and he has that in Amy. Loved it!!

This is great if you love these authors, they got a great bunch of romance writers and compiled a pretty good romantic anthology of stories. I, however am not happy with this. The first LOL anthology was funny and this was not. Only the last 3 stories had anything to make me laugh and it wasn't even laugh out funny. Nice romance stories, but not worth me buying for a comedy book.

i have to say this boxed set is even better than the first and I really liked that one too. Each story is better than the last one. All these authors are on my favorite list and was great to get to read them in 1 set instead of buying all the books separate . julia kent is is one of my all time favorite authors and her book is great in this collection.
