First of all, I would like to say a HUGE thank you to April, who recommended this book to me!
The Glory is truly an utterly fantastic, moving, heart-wrenching and beautiful story about courage, kindness, friendship, family, perseverance and love.
This is the first novel I have read in 2016 and I just could. not. put. it. down.
It is superb!
I loved the story and the alternating POVs.
It was exciting and a little different and just all in all a wonderful read.

This is my first horse story by Lauren St.John and considering I am not that interested in equestrianism, I really enjoyed this book. The plot and pacing were thrilling to read and the characters were believable and their problems became your problems. Will and Alex and their slow progress in a relationship was endearing and sweet to read. I loved every second that they shared together. The descriptions of the scenery and the horses, especially Shiraz and Scout were beautiful. The ending was the ...more

An utterly glorious, sweeping and heart-pounding epic story of the ultimate cross-country horse race. Exciting and beautiful - a real modern classic.

I spent my childhood immersed in horse books. Actually, I spent it immersed in books in general, but as a 'horse girl' I read a tonne of horse books. Saddle Club, Pony Pals, Heartland, Thoroughbred, a good chunk of standalones including some old Pullien-Thompsons and other authors from that era - I read everything I could get my hands on if it had a horse on the cover! So you can believe me, I am well-versed in horse literature, even if it's been a while - it's so hard to find good 'horse lit' ...more

I've bene wanting to read this book for so long and thanks to my local library, I now can. Libraries are great places! :D

It only took me a day to read- not my original plan, but I had to keep going back to it over several sittings. It came along at the right time as well. Despite me being a few years older than the intended age range of her books now, Lauren St John never fails to draw me in. I have a good collection of her books now, though I need to buy the final book then reread the whole of

This is honestly one of the best books I have ever read! It was so beautiful and filled with love, adventure and hope. The characters were amazingly written so that they bounced off each other and you never felt yourself getting annoyed with any of them for their actions. The ending was so fairytale, the kind where all the ends are tied up and everything falls into place. I just loved it!

I received a copy in exchange for a fair and honest review on my blog Nayu's Reading Corner

Squee! Yet another brilliant horse read from the talented Lauren. There's all her trademark points of complex main characters who have attitude & life circumstances which are less than ideal. There are 'enemies' (for lack of a better word) who are cruel, manipulative and underhanded. I liked how dramatically both Will and Grace enter each others' lives,

1. This book spans 1,200 miles (and more). It took me two nights - and two breakfasts - to read.
When you finish this book, you'll wonder whether you were sitting on a racing horse you galloped through it so fast. Also, it's a big book. This isn't my way of bigging up the fact that I read a 200 page book in two days. My ARC is 445 pages long.
2. This book adds to my collection of books-by-Lauren St John-that-I-loved.

This is my second time reading The Glory, and I still love it just as much I did the first time. The story follows a teenage girl with a troubled life but a passion for horses that just burns so brightly. However, her spirited but chaotic nature leads her to a camp for 'troubled' teens, where she suffers at the hands of Warden Cartright, and meets a Palamino Mustang, Scout, who is just as wild-natured as she is. They share a common goal: to be free. And thus begins their journey to freedom, ...more

The Glory is by Lauren St John. In this book there was a great use of switching POV's (Point Of Views) and when they were switched it fitted and it felt like it flowed with the story. Lauren also used different symbols for each chapter and having the 'symbol glossary' meant that I and anyone, who was reading the book, could look up everyone and know what they meant.

In five words this book was: tension, rivarly, fear, love and adventure.

This was a really good book! It was interesting and kept me hooked the whole time while keeping to the storyline. A girl on the run from the law. When Alexander Lakewood si sent to a US boot camp for "out of control teenagers", she only has one thing on her mind, escape. Every option seems impossible until she meets Scout, and out of control palomino mustang.

4.5/5 stars. I fell in love with Will, Alex, Scout and Shiraz. The dual POV added to the understanding of the story and made me fall in love even more. The scenery was unimaginable, I felt as though I was actually riding along with them. The idea that both went into the race for different reasons, very much in it for themselves but found out that they strengthened each other and brought out the best parts. The only reason it isn't a 5 star is the ending, I felt like it could have been drawn out ...more

Really awesome book. I love books that involve teens tripping all over the country ( or the world, i'm not picky) and this one had the added bonus of horses, subtle humour, history of the old west and a touch of romance.
Plus the landscape is this book is beautifully described and fills me with a longing to set out on my own road trip.
Finding a book like this that features many of the things/topics I love and is actually a great read is like finding a unicorn. Highly recommend.

I honestly LOVED the book! It definitely didn't end the way I expected it to! Definitely recommend this book to anyone who's looking for an adventure or to anyone who adores an equestrian story like myself!

Reminded me of the film Hidalgo, as two teens race against each other on horseback in an endurance race across the American West. An enjoyable read which horse lovers will particularly want to look out for.
