I really liked this book. The Shifters made for a great bad guy, especially as no one knew their motivation (though it was clear they had one). Very different than the standard Zombie Apocalypse that has become so common.

One thing I love about Kat McIntyre is her strong heroines. One reader made an asinine comment about "I'm tired of strong heroines". Tired of strong women? Wow, inferiority complex much?

I LOVE strong women! There aren't nearly enough of them!! Thank you, Kat for writing strong women instead of stupid sniveling girls.

I love the slang terms like "subterra". It takes strong people to hide from something you don't know about and that's the real fear: you don't know what the aliens are,

Really enjoyed this book a great deal!

While I have read a few post apocalyptic stories in the past, I loved that this book went in a very different angle than the traditional zombie/virus/nuclear fallout route. The "shifters" were incredible creepy, and brought a great deal of tension to the overall plot which had a nice mixture of horror and sci-fi elements. The characters (Yay Tweak) and the banter make it hard to put this story down.

After reading several of the pieces

Strong women. Strong words.

Katherine McIntyre is a feisty chick with a big attitude despite her short stature. She writes stories featuring snarky women, ragtag crews, and men with bad attitudes—high chance for a passionate speech thrown into the mix. As an eternal geek and tomboy who’s always stepped to her own beat, she’s made it her mission to write stories that represent the broad
