Southern Shifters #6

Shiftin' Dirty

Rate this book
Bringing home a human can only go two ways. All out war or death.

Robert Gage is surrounded by sex and his wolf is ready to climb the walls. He doesn't need a mate, but he could use an outlet for his frustration. Someone to warm his bed until morning and then go on her way. He especially doesn't need a human woman who likes to poke her adorable nose in everyone's business. Except her scent and her curves are already messing with his head.

Sienna has about had it with the male species after her latest boyfriend leaves her behind with a stupid note and a mountain of debt. Unfortunately, the only job she can get is in a bar full of rough and scary bikers that seem to think she's an easy lay. She's about to teach them a ball breaking lesson when one of them growls and the other turns into a creature right out of her worst nightmare.

Now a hunk-a-licious big biker is screaming at her to run because her life depends on it. He wants to take her home where she'll be safe. Yeah...okay.

Robert Gage is trying to escape his horny housemates (Dean & Niki) so he heads to a bar. There, he meets Sienna, a human working in the bar. He knows instantly that she's his mate, but how can that be if she's a human? Humans and shifters just don't mate. When Sienna sees another shifter transform into a wolf, she's a target for the other pack and Gage whisks her on out of there. But the other pack tracks them - evidently they want Sienna... Eventually they end up back at Dark Moon to commence protection duty. They get Simon, the doctor to test their blood for compatibility (but nothing ever comes of that...) and then Niki has her baby. There's a tiny moment of angst where Gage overhears Sienna saying she feels trapped, Gage pushes her away for her own good, then external threat comes along, they overcome and Gage has completely changed his mind. Lots of sex ensues.

Not as good as the previous two books, but still better than the first 3 in the series. The plot and characters sort of fall apart here. I like that the obstacle is that Gage is a shifter and Sienna is a human and they don't know if they can be compatible and Sienna is kind of uncomfortable about the idea of mates when she doesn't love Gage yet. These are pretty good obstacles to overcome in a plot. But the focus on compatibility gets lost and the fact that Sienna is a human becomes a non-issue, the external threat sort of stops quite suddenly and the whole thing with Simon is left up in the air to be solved in another book I suppose. About the only obstacle that remains is whether Sienna wants to stay and be mated and that's solved in a matter of minutes. So it was a quick read, but it didn't feel like it had a well-constructed plot with meaningful character actions. The relationship between Gage and Sienna was sweet and romantic, but the sex didn't have the punch it usually does from this author. I was also a bit thrown by some rather strange descriptions - like the hot spring that had a waterfall...hot springs come from underground geothermal energy, and waterfall would be dumping cold water into it. Thus...not a hot spring. There was another one during the birth scene and one or two during sex scenes that threw me off too. Editors should be catching this stuff.

Sienna is fighting off a rough and scary biker when he suddenly turns into a creature from a nightmare but her night suddenly gets better when she is taken on the run with a hunk-a-licious big biker who wants to take her home for her safety in this exciting paranormal romance.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of suspense, excitement and romance. Sienna’s life on her last hope when she accepts a job at a biker bar when suddenly her life is turned on end because she witnesses a man shifting into a wolf. The reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as Sienna is not only introduced to the shifter way of life and informed she is Gage’s mate and while she can’t deny the chemistry rocks she’s not so sure about this mating business. Gage is a one sexy shifter that makes the heart pound and Sienna is one surprising heroine, so together they make one hot couple.

Spine tingling excitement builds throughout the story as the danger to Sienna escalates and everyone realizes there is more going on with the wolves that are after her than they thought. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and bring the story to life while the while orchestrated action draws the reader into the story. There is also the overlying conflict with the shifters and the council and what is going on in their world that adds more depth and spice to the story and ensuring that the reader comes back for more.

The characters are strong and captivating and there was never a dull moment with some interesting elements in a fascinating world of shifters with issues with old fashioned and overbearing laws and the shifters themselves capture the heart as they try to find a solution to why they are dying out. I was completely enthralled with this romance from the very beginning and I can’t wait to read the next one, especially as I know those Blackwood wolves are up to no good.

More enjoyment may possibly be gained by reading the previous books in the series.
Admittedly, I have not read the books directly before this one, so that may have affected my appreciation of the story.
Gage goes off on his bike to get some fresh air because life in the shared living arrangement becomes somewhat difficult with hormones, affecting everyone. He decides to stop at a biker bar for a drink and the possibility of a casual pick up. There he sees Sienna and is immediately attracted to her but so are some bikers. Sienna is desperate to earn some money to pay off debt left by her cheating rat Ex and is doing the "waitress test" to get a job waitressing in the bar. A fight breaks out, they take it outside, she follows and is accidentally witness to a "man" shifting into a wolf.
Gage convinces her to get on his bike to save her and the relationship starts from about there.
There is some "breeding with humans" issues that look like it will carry on to the next book. This is a fast paced story with some love/lust/mate at first sight going on.
I found that there are some small editing issues and at times the story felt a little muddled. I probably won't read it again but I did quite like Gage.

I have no idea what order I read these smexy shifter stories. I do know that I should have bought out the entire series if Ms. Gayle had them available. Unfortunately by the time I made it to her table at the book convention, she had limited books left. My loss.

This series is a fast read with straight forward dominant male finding their frisky female. In this sixth book, it is Gage's turn to find a female. He's due for one because he's surrounded by mating pheromones permeating their pack area. Too many rutting couples and he isn't one of them. Too bad for Gage that the woman is not only not his expected obeying type, but she's HUMAN! Oh the horror. What to do with a fragile human that is hunted by other wolves? The plot thickens with a bit of a conspiracy going on. This keeps my attention and I want to know what happens next.

I admit; I have a soft spot for romanticized bad boy bikers. Ms. Gayle creates Gage right up my alley. His sexy attitude works well on Sienna too. Their chemistry is hot. Their give and take playfulness plus rough sex is a turn on. For a sexy uncomplicated good time, Ms. Gayle is a winner. This paranormal romance is recommended to readers who enjoy bad boys who treat their women like a treasure.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!
***Received the ebook from the author for an honest review

The cover is sexy :) Love it!!

All sorts of drama and action :) I loved this one just as much as the last one :) This is Gage’s story. There is all sorts of shifter drama for Gage and all sorts of drama for Sienna before she met Gage and then he threw in shifter drama to her pile. There are fights, kidnapping, a baby, donuts, and some very steamy sex scenes.

I really like Eliza Gayle’s series so far, and I need to back track and read the rest of the series because I think I already bought most of them. Her writing makes it easy to get sucked into the lives and stories of her characters. Of course, I’m a total shifter addict, so I usually love them.

I highly recommend this book to Eliza fans and shifter fans alike. If you have not read one of Eliza’s books, you definitely need to especially if you are already a shifter addict because her world is awesome :)

I liked this at the time I read it which was a couple days ago. Then I came to review it and I dont remember what it was about. I had to re-read the blurb and still...I couldnt remember much about it. Read a few reviews and it came back to me. That right there unfortunately isnt a good thing. Its not memorable or anything special about it. Not trying to be rude but to be honest and get my point across. It was enjoyable at the time reading but thats where it ends. Nothing stood out for me it seems. I dont like when that happens...its disappointing for me because this author I do enjoy.

Bikers and shifters, oh my. Sienna is trying to get her life back on track after being screwed over by her ex. She takes a biker bar which exposes her to a whole new world. Gage is trying to escape the raging hormones of his friend and her mate Nikki and Dean - the main couple from book 5. Seeing Sienna sparks desire and more. When she accidentally sees a shift, Gage steps in to save her from a pack of wolves. The pack has plans for Sienna and pursues her. Gage is forced to bring her home where he also hopes to convince her to stay as his mate. If you've read the prior books you'll see lots of familiar faces, plus Southern Shifters trademark smutty action and I mean that in the best way.

I have enjoyed this series! These books are worth purchasing or checking them out.

There is not a lot of stories with strong female characters. I mean this series the females are muscle head but they are strong in their own way.

Family is not always blood related. Each character grows towards making a family.

As society has outcast these books also has them. The struggles they have are different but off shoot the same. Eliza Gayle did a great story of blending everything together.

Sienna is fierce in a fight, especially, since she's a human going against a shifter, proving that she can hang with her newfound family! Loved the ending, and since I had already read the next 3 books first (Accidentally not realizing it was part of a longer series or the fact I was starting with book 6.5 because it was a crossover to series i love to read by a different author... ) and now i know the storyline of the original characters and where they came from🤔🤗🤗

Okay read but won’t remember it.
Been a long time since I picked up on of these books as I’m not a huge fan of this shifter world.
Didn’t fall in love with Sienna but did like Robert.
The story sort of went along but didn’t keep my interest.
Other characters had some of the limelight at times but they will obviously get their own books.
Errors that should have been picked up were annoying.
Read through Kindle Unlimited.

This just picked up steam and ran with it, completely out of the blue! I read this more or less as a standalone as it has been some time since I read any others in the series, and I could easily follow along. I really liked how things were fast-paced, to the point, and easily followed. The conflict not only came from the outside bad guys, and the found family, but also within the characters. All were quickly overcome and our couple finally could settle into their HEA!

I wonder what Simon is up to why he is still at the Blackwood camp. I was hoping Sienna was going to surprise Gage with baby news. When Niki had the baby I thought for sure they would say three was another one in there, since Simon told them it was a boy and she had a girl.

There's a little pack tension in this story but Gage and Vienna are a cute couple!
Granted she's a human but she is feisty as heck.

Genre: Fantasy/Paranormal Romance
This is one of those series that I jumped in, starting with book three, and have really come to enjoy. This one feels a bit lighter than the last one though. I do like a solid read to get my teeth into, but it was still a good read.
Gage made for a great male lead, he’s the strong and silent type, solitary but feeling currently very frustrated and aroused by the pheromones given off by pregnant pack member Nikki. It’s putting all the males on edge, making them touchy and on the edge of fighting, lacking a sexual outlet. Hoping to get away briefly he goes to a biker bar. Of course instead of the quiet, peaceful drink he wants he gets involved with a human, Sienna, who is caught up in a shifter battle. She saw one of the men change form and that’s disaster, humans have to be kept out of the loop about Supernaturals..
Sienna, she had been taken for a ride by her ex, made homeless, penniless and on the verge of bankruptcy from all the debts he left. She’s desperate and the bar job is her last hope. Its a tough one, but she’s on trial for the night, and she’s trying hard. Then she goes outside at the end of the evening and sees a man change into a wolf! Gage has been tempted by her scent but told himself it was just the effects of the pheromones he’s feeling, but when he rescues her from the other men his wolf is shouting Mate at him. Not sure how to proceed, but keen to get her out of immediate danger he whisks her away on his bike. There’s danger to her not just from the other shifters right now, but from the Council in the longer term. Shifter politics seem just like our human ones at times, bogged down by archaic rules and red tape!
Poor Sienna, now she’s stuck in a weird place where everything that is shouldn’t be, according to her world perspective. Men that change into wolves? Rubbish... except she Saw It Happen....and with Gage’s family she finds out there are other types of shifter too. She’s always been ridiculed for not being tall and slender, but Gage seems fascinated by her curves and can’t keep his hands off her. That’s a shock, especially given he’s incredibly hot himself, and somehow he’s hard to resist even though a part of her is scared about this new world. What has she to lose though? Set against a man who wants her, who she wants back, who wants to look after her, loves her baking and can offer her lifelong love. Its a big decision but she needs to choose right now.
Its a fun read, quite a light one but a great sexy addition to the series. I think its easier of you’ve read some of the others, but wouldn’t be impossible to pick up without as Eliza gives just enough info to let new readers keep up, but not bore those who already know things.

Stars: Four- a fun, sexy addition to the series.

I was gifted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Gage is about to lose his mind. After having to constantly listen, smell, and even watch his pack mates have continuous sex he is ready to explode if he doesn't get away. There is only so much a man much less a shifter can deal with.

His escape leads him to a small run down bar where the most intoxicating smell hits his senses from the minute he walks in. He tracks that smell to his waitress Sienna. When an altercation with another shifter puts Sienna in danger he runs with her. Not understanding why he feels the need to protect her when he only met her hours before.

Sienna is done with men. After her last boyfriend leaves her high and dry in debt beyond her wildest nightmares she has no choice but to look for a job. Any job will do. The last thing she would have thought of is that she would be running from shifters after just her first day.

I loved that Sienna was a determined woman who knew her mind. No matter how attracted she was to Gage there was a part of her that needed to be 100% sure. I enjoyed Gage trying to convince Sienna that she was his mate. Even though he was obviously an alpha male he was always so sweet to here in both actions and words.

A shifter must read!

Robert 'Gage' and Sienna. I was enjoying the story at first. There was a sexy shifter, and a down on her luck human, but then it devolves into a disappointing mess. The first signs of confusion was the hero's name. First he's Robert, then he's Gage. Sure it's because his name is 'Robert Gage' but what is the point of vacillating between one name and the other, and only for the first chapter??? Sienna was done wrong by her last boyfriend and forced to work in a biker bar on the outskirts of a small town. Gage is trying to get some 'fresh air' from his horny housemates. He's not expecting to meet his mate aka the love of his life... The plot is pretty straight forward, but the character interaction and the action (including sex) was clunky and often made no sense. Ex. one minute he, "flipped her onto her back".. then, literally in next sentence they are somehow doing it doggie style. It just pissed me off. Why should I read something where the author puts in so little effort? It was clumzy, predictable, and not even sexy. Loved the cover though!!

This probably would have been a 4 1/2-5 Star book for me, but the editing was not the best. Bad Kitty and Be Were both had great editing and few mistakes, but Shiftin' Dirty took me back to the first three books in the series, Lucas, Kane and Malcolm. Shiftin' Dirty wasn't quite as bad as those three, at least those three in the anthology version, but there were mistakes that were very hard for me to overlook.

The story itself was good though. I would have liked a little more info on Simon and his predicament, but that was left off as a very open story line that will hopefully be picked up if and when this series is continued. In fact throughout the series, there were many unanswered questions that I'd love to get answers to. Hopefully this series will continue and all of these things will be cleared up.

Holy wow I love Gage and Sienna. Their fast love story was fun and hot!!

I like the Southern Shifters because they don't play around and pretend they are immune to the mating bond. The men are fierce for their women which makes it smoldering. I like that each book brings alittle action that will be worked out in the next book. The fighting or kidnapping aren't over worked. Each situation is perfect for that story. Shifters aren't just facing infertility they face prejudices beyond belief. Hating what they don't understand. Eliza Gayle takes on this world of shifters and shows us that being different is empowering. I can't wait for the next story.
Just a piece of advice. If you haven't read any of her other books you are missing out. All of her books are a must read!!!

Cute story. Sienna was quite funny. Her ex left a sour taste in her mouth, but luckily he did not dim her light too badly. I love that when she was stressed, she headed to the kitchen to make donuts from scratch. Very funny lady. Stronger than she seemed. Gage was sexy. Their relationship seemed rushed as in most PNR’s, but needed more passion to tie it together. Lots of action. There was something missing for me. Lots of loose ends. All angles read cliffy. Did not like that much. It was a nice love story in the end and an enjoyable read. Except for the editing errors. There were quite a few. Distracted the flow of the story for me. I found myself having to reread some sections.

A fantastic story full of shifters, hot alpha males, feisty females, a little action and some steamy hot romance that was hard to put down once I started reading. Eliza Gayle painted a clear picture of the world she created in book six of the Southern Shifter series. The instant attraction between Cage and Sienna jumps off the page from the moment they meet. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and plan on going back to read the series from the beginning.

There is a Premium on Those Hips

This was a hot quick romance with a little violence and a lot of loving. It's crazy when being a bbw is enough to make shifters try to kidnap you. And they are willing to use your body for research to see if a human can carry shifters' cubs. This story also lets you know what Dean and Niki had. I hope Calder gets a story next. Enjoy I did.
