First off I really have to say, this has got to be one of my favorite covers by far, there is just something that called to me from the very first time I saw it; leaving me completely captivated. I’m a romance fan and I love a good paranormal but for some reason gifting a dictionary at the beginning instead of explaining stuff throughout the story just didn’t work for me.
I was left utterly confused and frustrated by the plot and delivery. You know it’s bad when you have to ask friend to simplify story so you can try again because you’re just not getting it and/or connecting.

PNR is very rare and precious read for me, So when I heard about "the Scars" I had to read it plus, I like this author's writing.
BUT it was just...
I’ll keep it short, things which didn’t work for me:
#1 INSTA-LUST!!
#2 Too much inner monologues.
#3 Didn't feel the connection between the MC’s.
#4 Not emphasized on paranormal elements (for all I care it was about the hired assassin protecting the innocent girl, who's been chased by a psychopath).
#5 Ending was a huge that's it???!!!

I'll be honest. This book has a steep learning curve. The first chapter or two read like there was a book that came before this one. I felt like I missed out on the world building part of the novel. I kept having to refer to the glossary the author provided at the beginning. Once it got going, however, I really got caught up in the story.
It was a 3.5 - 4 star read for me up until 75-80%. Then, BAM!

Got to admit...when I first started the book and saw the 3 pages full of glossary terms, my first reaction was to:
