Originally meant as a voting tool for the Science Fiction Poetry Association's annual Rhysling Awards, this years Rhysling Anthology is once again an attractively produced, perfect-bound reader's guide to the previous year in speculative poetry. All poems were nominated by the members of SFPA.

This years anthology offers 103 pages -- in my voting copy, anyhow -- of short and long-form verse, in a wide variety of styles. (Formal verse, however, is not extensively represented.) Many of the fields

These Rhysling Award voting anthologies are difficult to evaluate, and even harder to judge from. There are so many apples-vs-oranges comparisons to be made, and, of course, there is no structure or theme.

In the long poems, favorites were:
Mary Soon Lee's "Interregnum"
Leslie J. Anderson 's "Ponies and Rocketships"
Bryan Thao Worra 's "The Robo Sutra" and
Robert Frazier's "Your Clone and You"

In the short poems, Geoff Landis's "Rivers" was an effective concrete poem, and other good pieces included:
