I sat across from this guy's wife a decade ago for an interview, one of the most intimidating experiences of my writer's life. Also one of the coolest. Always wondered who she might be married to. You get a sense of it reading his work, wonderfully personal (not overtly, but between the lines) and sly and funny and deeply sympathetic.
