This was an excellent book. I took it in chunks and spent a lot of time looking at the maps. The combination of maps and light historical commentary made for enjoyable reading. There are many things I did not know that were traced to me in this book. Well done.

Great survey of regional history through the lens of exploration. The writing is rife with grammar errors, but more troubling is the nonlinear structure. The layout is as if the prose is meant to be read in order, but the text is rather loosely oriented in categories.
Enjoyable regardless!

good way to learn about history of exploration, settlement, political boundaries and map-making. maps were still too small and hard to read even though book is pretty big

An important book for this part of the world -- that is, the West Coast. You can look at this book, and others of his, many times over and always find something new.
