WARNING: This book contains funny and intelligent real-life stories. I could not put this book down. I laughed out loud. My daughter said she didn't want me to finish the book because it makes me smile and laugh out loud. I did, however, finish this book the day I received it. I couldn't pace myself with it because it contains one entertaining story after another.

Only three books have made me laugh out loud. MANY years ago a book by Patrick McManus and a book authored by Paul Reiser. This is the

WARNING- Do NOT read this book while sipping hot drinks.

Nothing says awkward quite like an ex-husband dubbed "Lawnmower". Fresh off an ugly divorce, Ms. Yankosky navigates her second take on life in the uncharted waters of singledom via her blog posts. Some might welcome this depressing challenge as one might, say, avoid a pool of quicksand. But not Yankosky (a.k.a. Wheat). Her brand of self-deprecating humor hails from the likes of Second City's improv troop. She takes the reader through speed

I have to admit that I've known Karen Yankosky for many years. So, if you think I'm going to be biased, go ahead and skip this review to read the other glowing reviews from people that haven't known Karen for as long as I have. But I want to add to the love. This book is JUST like having a conversation with Karen. She really is this funny and endearing and sharp witted in real life. It's not often that a writer so completely captures their personality ... and she's done that with aplomb. I'm loo ...more

I've been reading Karen's blog for years and knew this would be a laugh out loud treat. It didn't disappoint. Reading the book makes you want to make this woman your friend, since life with her certainly doesn't sound boring or dull!

A blog-like collection of anecdotal chapters from a divorced, 40+year old woman. American reviews rave about her humour and insight but I found it came across as tedious and trivial. The book does have faint echoes of Erma Bombeck in its style, but Karen Yankosky isn't in her league. The book's title led me to expect wry humour and amusement, but the contents don't live up to it - I suspect an American/English cultural gap.
