New Adult Romance – A Sexy Contemporary Romance Novelette Sage has been working at a high-tech firm in Newport Beach, CA for over two years as the only female director among three men. She is highly valued by her boss and she loves her job, but there's a problem - she's totally attracted to him and the stress is killing her. She's taking three days off for the Christmas holiday and has posted her availability online, hoping to find a job when she returns. Before she can leave, she has to find her cell phone and she doesn't know where she left it.
Terrance is the founder and owner of Templeton Designs and considers Sage so valuable to the company, he can't afford to acknowledge the feelings he has for her. He's stuck at the company this year when normally he would be enjoying the holiday in a warm, tropical location. It may be the year he finds a way to acknowledge the woman who holds his heart captive.
"Sage was one of his most productive executives and he couldn't afford to lose her. That was about to change!"
Unfortunately I did not connect with this story. I kept waiting to see if at any point Terrance's actions might make sense to me, and that never happened. If anything, his actions made less and less sense as the story went along. The above quote confused me, because I was like, "Why? Why now? What has changed?"
He says himself that he never even thought she was interested in him, so him being so pushy makes no sense. That isn't how you find out if someone likes you. It's as if he has no idea how dating and relationships work.
I didn't particularly like either of the main characters. Especially Terrance. It didn't feel like either of them remained consistent either, which is saying something seeing as it's a short story.
I thought it was incredibly presumptuous and both that and the ending were just...way too unbelievable. And frankly, stupid. If a person actually did both of those things in the time frame of this book, that person would have to be really stupid. I understand it's a romantic fantasy, but my romantic fantasy is not to end up with a stupid man who acts so rashly.
This kind of reminded me of those Hallmark channel Christmas movies, except obviously those are longer so at least there's time to develop a little. This story was too short to have as much happening, but it did anyway.
Super cute, short holiday story. This is a work romance of sorts. He is her boss and they have both had a crush on the other without the other knowing...until one day when everything changes.
I loved that this was partially set in the Phoenix metropolitan area of Arizona. That's where I live so I recognize all of the places, including the hiking trails.
Sage is infatuated with her boss. She thinks he does not notice her, but boy, is she wrong about that. This short story hints at intimate encounters, but I am glad that the author leaves that to one's imagination!
Coming in at a whopping 29 pages this was a very quick read. I thought it was cute but it was way to short for it to have had everything happening that it did. Everything was way to rushed and wasn't believable.

What I liked about this novel....
"Her Christmas Bonus" was a short romantic Christmas novella. What I liked about it was it was very quick easy and sweet read about Sage and Terrance. If was for sure that Terrance knew what he wanted and went after it and id he get it? Well, you will have to pick up and read "Her Christmas Bonus" to see!
I have a real weakness for christmas romances and this one is very short and sweet, it's only 27 pages and it's a complete story so as you can imagine there's not a lot of build-up, history or character development, but it's a feel good Christmas romance so who cares. Sage is the only female director at Templeton Designs and in the two years she's worked there she's been fighting her attraction to Terrance Templeton the founder and owner and she decides enough is enough she can't go through another year lusting after a boss who shows no interest in her, so even though she loves her job she'll have to leave, but it would appear she's been mistaken about Terrance having no interest in her and things are about to change. I enjoyed this little read, would it have been better if it had been longer? Of course. I would have liked more details, more time and less rush, but it's a free little Christmas romance so just go with it and even though it's rushed in places it feels longer than its 27 pages.
This one didn't work for me. The actions that occurred out of the blue didn't make any sense to me. The hero seemed pushy. The ending made me roll my eyes--way too rushed. I feel like someone tried to pack the events of a full novel into less than 30 pages, with all of the lack of development you would expect from such a thing.
Sage has been working for Templeton Designs for 2 years now. The Christmas season has arrived and she is set to fly home to spend it with her mom as she does every year. It is this year that change is weighing heavy on her mind. How can she continue to work for Terrence, a man she has been in love with for a long time, for another year knowing he doesn't return her feelings. The season brings a change in not only her outlook but with those around her this is soon to be a Christmas she won't forget. It is a cute read about two souls who have lost loved ones and blocked out the seasons joy. I found this at Christmas time on the freebie list and it is one to put you in the spirit.
My one complaint is the ending wraps up in a rush and it leaves the reader wanting more but in order to gain this you must buy the bonus epilogue. If you are okay with that then I believe you will enjoy. I think it is a shame to charge .99 for 30 pages. It's just my opinion and some may consider me cheap but that's a chapter. Can you imagine if authors start charging $1 for each chapter? I won't take it further as one can easily stop with how this book ends and use your imagination. Enjoy!
On a short story xmas binge! Downloaded a bunch so I'm getting through them for the holiday.
Sage has been working for a firm in CA for over two years. She is highly valued by her boss and she loves her job. All seems perfect...but she is in love with her boss. Terrance is the founder and owner of the firm. He considers Sage so valuable to his company that he has been avoiding his feelings for her. Things happen and Christmas miracle may just happen for them.
I liked this a lot. It was quick and cute. I felt bad for Sage and Terrance. Dating your boss is a rocky, rocky thing especially when the boss owns the entire company.
Things happened quickly and they made things work. The ending "twist" was a little too much though.
Overall, this was a good one. Short, sweet, and xmas-y. The twist was a little over-the-top though. I'll stamp this with 3 stars.
A sexy sweet short. What happens when your in lust with your boss. . But because you think that it's never going to go anywhere and you can't deal with it anymore you have to leave. Surprize a christmas present arrives at your door that you wanted.
Very short read. A good story for the holiday. Sage is smitten with Terrance and doesn’t realize that he returns her feelings until she forgets her phone at the office. The connection is quick as Terrance realizes right away that he wants to spend the rest of his life with Sage.
5 stars Fantastic little tale of mutual attraction that was on hold for two years. Sage and Terrance delight. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Happily Ever After. Page-turner. Romantic. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
I really enjoyed this short Christmas romance and the plot was a little different from what I usually read this time of year. A clean romantic love story.
