The prophets have predicted that in these last days the church of the Devil would completely cover the earth; have dominion among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people; entice everyone to belong to it except those few who belong to "the church of the Lamb of God;" overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; make war against the saints and slay them; and finally be the cause of the destruction of all nations. The majority of the people pay no attention to these scriptures because they don't believe them. Satan's success today is traceable to apathy and ignorance concerning him and his organization. The prophets have fully disclosed the identity of the Devil's church and kingdom and the nature of his plan to destroy moral agency. 233 pages
A reader of this book will, in my opinion, have many opportunities to test their ability to discern truth from error.
My truth meter finds much of value in the book’s content. And error.
Careful consideration of the content will reveal underlying assumptions and unstated premises which are in some cases strictly inaccurate and in other instances over-generalized.
It isn’t my purpose nor do I feel it my place to articulate or argue these specific insights I may have had. I suppose my purpose is to advise caution given the marketed endorsements.
And, FWIW, I’ve come to believe that one marker of potential error is stridency. Not always but sufficiently often to warrant caution and contemplation. The author’s strident tone is perhaps ironically what first caught my attention.
Great book that I think every Latter Day Saint should read. Good insight to Satan’s role in government power with a lot of cross references to the standard works.
"The Great and Abominable Church of the Devil" was written by an LDS Lawer back in 1972. This book was self-published and like similar books of similar subjects that is understandable given the track record in history associated with controversial subjects such as religion, politics, law, Communism, Fascism, and Socialism discussed together.
H. Verlan Anderson uses examples from the Bible and LDS Book of Mormon, his experience and expertise as a Lawyer, and historical aspects to break down a complex subject into easy-to-read and understanding terms for everybody. A person does not have to be familiar with the Book of Mormon to understand the points he is trying to make for the fact that he includes direct quotes from both that and the Bible.
It is interesting to note that the book was written and published close to and in the same decade as the Democratic Socialists of America were just beginning in the early 1970's. Reading his book it is clear he saw a problem and wanted to do something about that, Socialism. It is possible that he saw the DSA on the rise and explains the various methods Socialists use, such as the power of the police, making fun of and degrading the American Military, degrading American Veterans to diminish their importance and sacrifices, Socialized education, and methods they use to stop and seize Capitalist efforts.
To many, in the United States, Judo-Christian values and Christianity are very important. He uses those similar values and principles people understand from any Christian religion to explain that, basically, ideologies and movements such as Socialism, Fascism, and Communism are evil and they come from the Devil or Satan. He is the master of deceit and has effectively gained control over the hearts and minds of those that are easily manipulated toward power, greed, and control.
This book is definitely worth a read and any person that wishes to combat and understand the inner workings of Socialism, Fascism, and Communism from either a legal, political, or Judo-Christian standpoint should have this on their book-shelve or desk for reference. This year is 2019 and the information we get from the news and other media forms is a striking similarity from the historical ideologies and movements of Socialism, Fascism, and Communism from the 1940's, 1970's, and today in 2019 to include the elements and principles discussed in "The Great and Abominable Church of the Devil".
Fascinating and informative. This book pulls no punches. Using scripture and prophetic quotes, this book outlines what really is the Great and Abominable Church: Prostituted government. Only government has the power to deny religious freedom, impose taxes, create unjust laws, and dictate the economy.
The theme of this book centers around the concept that "It is probably true that upwards of ninety percent of the laws being enforced by governments throughout the world today are unjust in the sight of God because their purpose is not to punish evil, but rather to deny men their freedom to manage their private affairs." One of man's prized possession is his property. When that is forced to be seized by the government, his agency is compromised and his liberties limited. Andersen outlines that creating a welfare state (a.k.a. socialism) is contradictory to the plan of God. Satan's plan is to control man, and the one sure way he can successfully do so is through a controlling government body. This puts him in a position to strip man of private property and destroy families and the Lord's church.
This book should be read by any and all who want to preserve personal freedom, and those who want to understand how the Great and Abominable Church is vibrant and prevalent today across the globe.
D&C 123:7 7 It is an imperative duty that we owe to God, to angels, with whom we shall be brought to stand, and also to ourselves, to our wives and children, who have been made to bow down with grief, sorrow, and care, under the most damning hand of murder, tyranny, and oppression, supported and urged on and upheld by the influence of that spirit which hath so strongly riveted the creeds of the fathers, who have inherited lies, upon the hearts of the children, and filled the world with confusion, and has been growing stronger and stronger, and is now the very mainspring of all corruption, and the whole earth groans under the weight of its iniquity.
This is a book that EVERY Latter-Day Saint needs to read. H.Verlan Anderson lays it all out, and throws all PC nonsense out the window. Satan is real, as is his church...and it isn't what or who most people think it is. It affects all of us, and even though it may be hard to hear...it behooves each of us to put our cognitive dissonance aside and listen to his words. Although written in 1972, his words could not be more relevant today. A MUST read. I can't praise it enough.
This 230 page book is about 200 pages too long. It could easily have been a "paper". One must be careful not to "wrest" the scriptures or words of the prophets living and past. The premise is very simple. The church of the Devil is corrupt government. Historically and currently. I would rather recommend books by President Ezra Taft Benson.
Reading this book involves a paradigm shift of sorts. It's hard to argue with his premise which is that the great and abominable church is corrupted government because it destroys free agency (which is necessary for the salvation of God's children) with the rule of law. This book gives a LOT of food for thought. Recommend.
Very interesting look at the nature of government and the nature of the socialistic slide that we're currently seeing. I can't say that I thought everything was quite as cut and dry as he inferred, however he does make a very compelling case for prostituted government being at the very least an enormous tool for the adversary.
This book is amazing for lds people who are wondering how to tell what the great and abominable chuch really is. Changed my life and perspective on many things.
