Keep your friends close but your enemies within stabbing distance.

One important lesson I’ve learned in the assassination business is that to be the best you have to roll with the punches. Now that I’m queen of Ashland’s underworld—by default, not by choice—a lot more punches are being thrown my way. But I suppose that’s the price of victory for taking down some of the unde

How many books will be in the Elemental Assassin series?
"Right now, I’m contracted for at least 14 books in the series.
I tend to write in story arcs that span at least a few books before I close that arc out and move on to another one. For example, the first five books — Spider’s Bite to Spider’s Revenge — finish out the first major story arc with Gin and her nemesis and answer a lot of the big questions in the series. Thread of Death, the e-novella, takes place around the time of the end of Spider’s Revenge.
Books seven through nine, Widow’s Web to Heart of Venom make up another story arc regarding Gin and Owen’s relationship, and some questions raised in those books about a possible character will be answered in books #11 and #12 in the series.
The Spider, book #10, is a flashback book and an origin story that shows how Gin truly became the Spider, so it is more of a stand-alone adventure, although there will be lots of Easter eggs and references to events in other books for fans of the series.
However, I think there are a lot of Gin stories left to tell and a lot of bad guys still left for her to face, so I’m happy that I’m going to be able to write at least 14 books in the series. Of course, I would like to write more books in the series beyond that, but that depends on sales. So if you like my books, please tell your friends about them."

So 14 for sure, with the hope of more. (less)

Because " I really want to stab someone right now!".... But, as Silvio said, it might send the wrong message.... And it is another Wednesday with my assassins at BB&B!!!

SPIDER’S TRAP is the number of dubious luck, 13... Tum-tum-tuuuuuuuum!!! Could The Spider and her faithful gang still deliver after all this time??? Depends... It is the good old formula we are all used to by now, of a bad guy causing problems, and Gin going after him... However, this time it seems the bad guy is no

-Another villain-of-the-week type plot, there was nothing much different from this installment and the previous half a dozen installments. Gin was doing the same generic things as she usually does, the action scenes were the same as always, and there was the usual cheesy death threats and promises of revenge going back and forth between characters. There was no character or relationship development whatsoever, everyone was exactly the same as they were ten books ago. Bria and Owen were s

Overall this wasn’t bad and I liked most of it….except for that one glaring plot hole.

But I’ll get back to that.

In the last episode of Days of the Deadly Assassin Gin took out yet another back guy. But this time it looks like all the underworld is now looking to her for leadership. This might be good is Gin didn’t want to stab everyone that decided to come to her with there evil underworld problem
I absolutely love this series. Thirteen books in and its still going strong.

Gin is up against a “super power,” a mysterious new foe and as the boss of the underworld she must maintain the peace. Politics has never been her strong suit so she's learning to rely on her friends and people she trusts more and more. A blast from the past, will keep Gin at the top of her game while she learns to take the reigns of her new position...even if it kills her.

Now that Gin is the "big" boss, she has to deal with all the fights and squabbles she wants nothing to do with. And during a particularly boring discussion, she notices things...and those things go "BOOM"!

And wouldn't you know it...that puts Gin right back in the middle of it. With another elemental who is extremely powerful, of course, we would expect no less.

Yes, these stories have a certain formula but Holy thinks Ms. Estep has certainly stepped things up quite a bit...and I'm not
3.5 I missed Gin!

Yup, this book was exactly what I wanted: a fast-paced read, kick-ass characters, sarcastic humor and interesting plot.

Good part: it was everything I expected!

SPIDER’S TRAP is the first installment in phase 3 of the ELEMENTAL ASSASSIN series. One was Mab Monroe. Two was M. M. Monroe. Three is, well, the ending of this book, and Jennifer Estep’s version is gads more awesome than my recap could ever be, so yeah, you should be one-clicking this title right about now. Anyway, moving on, there’s also politicking, bombs, blasts from the past, plus tons of good ol’ fashioned The Spider bravado.

Bloody was how things always ended in Ashland.
Especially when the Spider was involved.

Another bloodthirsty buddy read with the amazing UF girls and boy over at BB&B.

“I really want to stab someone right now.”
Silvio Sanchez, my personal assistant, glanced at me. “I would advise against that,” he murmured. “It might send the wrong message.”
“Yeah,” Phillip Kincaid chimed in. “Namely that you’ve reverted back to your deadly assassin ways and are going to start killing people again
I very much enjoyed getting to know a case that was a little less personal to Gin and a little more personal to someone else. It was also interesting to get to know one of the crime lords better. :)

Plus the villain was just a nasty one, and had some really neat magic.

Time for Bitter Bite!

4.5 Stars! I am a Gin junkie, and fortunately for me Jennifer Estep continues to feed my Elemental Assassin addiction!

I'm also obsessed with Owen, Finn, Sophia, Jo-Jo, Bria, Xavier and the entire Ashland gang! The books in this series just do it for me every time, and while I might enjoy some more than others, there is no doubt that I am completely captivated by these characters and the amazing, often brutal world they inhabit.

The Ashland underworld dynamic has changed, and it's for the good.

Thirteen books in this series and the Elemental Assassin series is still going strong. I really am impressed with Jennifer Estep’s writing as of late. Not only has she stepped up her writing game, but Gin Blanco is really becoming a heroine who can take down any baddie out there. With her cool as a cucumber approach to things, there really is nothing out there that can compete with Gin. However that doesn’t stop others from trying.

As the new underworld queen, Gin becomes a hot target for ma

The Review:
This series keeps on getting better and better. I know I've said this before, but author Jennifer Estep can do no wrong when it comes to her Elemental Assassins series. Her books keep me reading late into the night.

Rather than go into details about this book and spoil the series for those who have not yet caught up, let me tell you why you need to read this series.

Well, Gin Blanco and her creator Jennifer Estep always make me happy.

The stories may sound repetitive - someone always comes to kill her. The result may be repetitive - the enemy always dies. The ending may be repetitive - there is a cliffhanger for the next book.

But what makes these books so addictive for me is the ability to connect, the ability to feel alive when I read this book. I literally and truly am unable to keep this book down. I love the series with a passion. My pulse just hammers

This book turns a bit of a corner in Gin's life and this series as Queen of the underworld. I am personally enjoying it although the plots still have a somewhat familiar ring to them, we must like it since we keep reading and enjoying them.

A note here that you should NOT read these books while hungry, the cooking and descriptions of meals had me making milkshakes at 9 at night, not a good idea according to my heart doctor LOL.

There was a lot of good but there were a few things I would have changed. It’s not a bad installment of the series as I had lots of feels during at least one major part of the story. Plus we finally get a good smexy scene with Owen that doesn’t feel like an afterthought.

Anyone who wants to control Ashland's underworld needs to kill Gin Blanco, The Spider first. Gin has finally had enough of every two bit hood wanting to make a name getting their blood all over the floor of the Pork Pit, her BBQ Restaurant, so without much enthusiasm she has decided to take over the Underworld herself.

What follows is meetings, meetings, meetings, refereeing petty disputes between mobsters and as it happens still having every two bit assassin gunning for her. Then, at one of her

While there are no spoilers for Spider’s Trap there may be mild spoilers for the previous book, Black Widow.

There’s nothing unlucky about the 13th installment of Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin series, Spider’s Trap. Estep continues to stay on the top of my urban fantasy reading list with Gin Blanco and her gang of sidekicks.

In Spider’s Trap we see Gin dealing with her new job as the big boss of Ashland’s underworld. It’s fun to see how Gin deals with the more mundane parts of the job like m

Just when it seems as if this series jumped the shark, Ms. Estep hits readers with a new arc in this series which pulls me right back in. Gin is stuck as the queen of Ashland's underworld. She grudgingly holds this title because she's taken out all the heavy hitters. Unfortunately, Gin is no queen. She doesn't know how to run a criminal empire because at heart, she's a troubleshooter. She is the one who gets the job done. Trying to strategize and navigate the political waters is beyond her skill ...more

If you know this person is a strong metal elemental why the ever loving hell do you keep trying to kill him with metal???? It's driving me nuts!!

This book was another great installment to the EA series. I was starting to worry after Mab and Madeline were killed that there was nowhere Jennifer could go with Gin. So glad I was wrong!!

Starting with the last book (Black Widow) I can see that we are getting a lot less repetition of information. Thank GOD! For example we all know (view

I always love picking up a new Elemental Assassin book. I just know I'm going to love the book, and it will be a guaranteed solid block of entertainment. SPIDER'S TRAP was no exception. While technically you could say the books are a bit formulaic, due to the pattern of someone threatening Gin's family and she putting them down, they never feel anything but fresh regardless. It's a sad day when an old bitty and a sassy young elemental have to tell Genevieve Snow aka the Spider to step up and rule Ashland because she wasn't running the show like a BOSS. That's cray cray! Gin was the queen and she was still thinking like a civilian. That's why she almost became collateral damage in a family beef. Mab Monroe would have ashed those interlopers and kept it moving. But the icy Spider wasn't ready to cut up.

Spider’s Trap is book 13 in the Elemental Assassin series. You would think after 13 books the stories would start to get stale. However, for me, the things that are repeated are the very things I like best about Gin and this series, and I find them comforting. I love Gin's focus on her family and friends, her steadfast commitment to the people she loves (even if it is often used against her). I love the cast of quirky characters – Finn, Bria, Owen, Sophia, Jo-jo, Silvio, Philip and Fle

In SPIDER'S TRAP Gin is in a new position of power which includes politics and increasing the amount of times her life is threatened. I enjoyed seeing how she dealt with more of Ashland's underworld, especially since she so obviously doesn't want to be involved with it. Most of these seedy underworld folk are handled pretty easily with a helping of death by Spider. The real challenge in each of the Elemental Assassin's books comes with the main bad guy

Oh, how I just love this series. It just keeps getting better and better. Everytime that Ms. Estep takes you to a point that you think will be the end of the series or the overall story arc, she picks the story right back and sends Gin down another path that keeps the stories fresh and fun. You think that Gin has beat the big bad villain and that there is nothing left for her to do, but yet trouble still finds her in

The 13th book in the Elemental Assassin series begins where book 12 ends - with Gin as the newly appointed Queen of the Underworld. This title isn't something that she wants but one that she earned by default. Her ascension to the "throne" doesn't come without problems, of course. Now, instead of just running The Pork Pit and taking care of her family, Gin has to be the mediator among griping bosses. She also has to keep a sharp eye as other underworld bosses are trying to remove her as the by a ...more
