She killed herself.

Everyone asked why, but when I got my hands on my sister's diary, I understood exactly why.

I stared at the girl in the mirror as I removed my nose ring. Gone was the black hair, replaced by golden blonde locks that made my sapphire blue eyes shine and my California sun-kissed skin glow. The Goth chic clothes had been put away and I wore a pink tank top

exciting and intricate plot . this is the second book of a series but you can read it first. if you did read the promise first you will wonder how this is part of the series . never fear it will all come together seamlessly . witches , angels demons and action and adventure galore. Hidden in all the action is a great miral question. How do you right a wrong without turning yourself evil. the struggle of choices when no choice is perfect. a great discussion of right and wrong. Two words...... My goodness!!! This was such an awesome book. It was about a girl struggling with her sisters passing. ESP since she knew her sister didn't commit suicide like the report said. We got to follow along with Meli and her struggle of being a good with or turning dark to exact her revenge. So many great aspects to this story. Well worth the read!!!

This book is a brilliant follow on to The Promise. The excitement and intrigue is carried through and the tempo never falters. Interesting switch in heroines. Highly recommended when released and maybe room for further adventures in the Coven series . Def 5*

Not as good as the first book. There are other paranormal introduced and there's dealings with the good and dark and Angels have an indirect involvement in the events of this book. The ending was pretty quick with an obvious solution. While there is closure for Rose, the darkness CJ has been trying to find has been released and left the ending open to continue regarding that.

When is Book 3 going to be published?

Another magical whirlwind, tying in characters from book one creating a masterpiece!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Let me begin by saying that I love The Ghost Files and did like The Promise, however, The Oath, the second book in the Coven series, just didn't do it for me.

To start, I did not like the main character Melinda. She drove me bonkers and was just plain unlikable for my taste. Really what kept me reading was Xavier. He kept my interest through out the novel enough to keep me reading.

The Oath has some very strong and great intriguing ide

Melinda understands, after reading her half-sister’s diary, that magic had been used to force her to commit suicide and Mel, a powerful witch, is dead set on revenge. Changing from her Goth-look into a blond-haired Barbie doll, Mel goes to live with her grandmother in Falls Church, VA so she can go to the same school that Jenny went to and her plans could very easily turn her soul black as she gets accepted by the very kids that are responsible for Jenny’s death. Ah, but Xavier, a guy in her sch ...more

Let me just say, I'm a very big fan of Apryl's. I really liked her Ghost Files series, The Awakening, and even really enjoyed The Promise(the first book to this series.)
Unfortunately, I feel like this book fell flat. For one, I'm not fond of stories that branch off into other characters. This is just my personal preference. This book doesn't have much to do with the first, although the characters from The Promise do show up in the story line. I felt The Promise had lots of suspense and was actio

This one is about Melinda also known as Rose. Rose has a protector which in witch world means they come to protect you from doing something bad. If it comes down to it they will kill you before you can do it. Xavier is Melinda's protector, but there is a little twist. When they kiss the elements surround them and bind them into one. This isn't good for them because if Rose dies then Xavier dies. Melinda is trying to find out who killed her sister, and she wants blood for blood. Can Xavier stop h ...more

Apryl Baker is the best!! At the very least, she is extremely imaginative. When I started "The Oath (The Coven #2)" my first thought was that it had a new character and therefore a new direction. But I soon found myself completely submerged in the story and was rewarded with the connection to the first book, "The Promise" and once again, had me spellbound.

Ms. Baker has a real talent for weaving the "real" world with the world of the supernatural and making it all seem so logical and normal. Wha

This followup to The Promise is just as thrilling and just as engaging. CJ and some of the characters from the first book make an appearance, but the main story is Melinda's. Unlike CJ in the previous book, Melinda knows she's a witch and doesn't try to hide it. She has three gorgeous guys to sort out, and all of them are worth rooting for. Melinda must decide whether to avenge her sister's murder or believe a new guy with a fantastical story. It's not an easy choice, but it's one that will keep ...more

So who am I? Well, I'm the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn't love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nig ...more
