Misty is a hunter for the shifter Council who uses her small body to get into the cracks and crevices of prisons and habitats. She can go where others can’t and save those who had no other chance at freedom.
After her time with the Council, she is free to pursue a life of her own, and she heads to the Crossroads without hesitation. It takes three weeks before her mate arrives, and just as she is losing hope, she is asked to take him on a tour. It isn’t love at first sight because he has seen her before.
Samuel was captured and held in a collector’s habitat when a tiny creature landed on him and rode him to freedom. When that sugar glider turned into a stunning woman, he knew he was looking at his mate, but he was trapped in his feline form. Seeking her out became his goal and finding her was his great reward.
Zenina Masters was born in Canada and lives in Canada. She has a regular job and does nothing particularly exciting with her life. She enjoys fishing, silence and the ability to pick and choose friends she can trust. Life is too short to watch your back all the time.
Her writing life is a teeny bit of escapism, she would probably chicken out if confronted by three naked men and looks forward to one day finding out.
Sugar gliders are seriously cute animals who can fly from one tree to another. A sugar glider shifter who also works as a covert agent with the Shifter Council to find "collected" shifters, it's a great mix of animal shape and skill sets. Misty is one of the hunters who can get into fae homes and seek out trapped shifters. Her family is "indentured" into service for a criminal mistake generations old. This one piece of the story didn't make much sense to me, but it worked for the story line.
This book is another one which takes a darker look into the fae who like to keep shifters trapped as animals. Ms. Masters writes only happily ever sweet romances so this book wouldn't go too dark. But seriously, if someone wanted to write a dark book on what happens to these enslaved shifters, it would be smoking hawt. It would be of course non-con and probably a lot of depraved sexual torture going on, but it would be scrumptious guilty pleasure. However, this is not to be so instead, the reader learns how sneaky Misty can be to help save those imprisoned.
Misty's latest mission is completely successful and she rescues a male cougar. What she doesn't know is that this is her future mate. Samuel is a very successful business man who's been missing for months. When he's returned to the real world, it's a bit surreal. This story moved pretty fast from rescue to mating to uncovering the culprit behind his capture. One could say it felt rushed but really, it is just the right speed. This is an action packed story which reveals more about the desperation of the fae. It helps to set up the next couple of books.
Ms. Masters once again blends magic, shifters and romance into a thoroughly enjoyable read. These books are smooth and silky from start to finish. It's a satisfying reading. This paranormal romance is recommended for those who love their happily ever afters.
Woohoo!! Back on track with the story-line of the collectors and the council. This also opens up more of what is going on with the fey.
Misty is an awesome chick who owns her inner beast. I love her part in the rescue at the beginning. Hers is almost the sole POV of the book, I miss the mixed narrative. Don't get me wrong, she is a great voice for the story, but things are always richer when you have both leads POV. Samuel gets a few brief moments where we get his thoughts, but they are more teases than anything else.
The smexy time is hawt, seriously in a field standing up!! Good Lord! There are a couple scenes, making it nice and spicy. The details are great but no where near as abundant as other erotic reads. If you have been with the series from the beginning, you should be used to this by now.
I liked the overall plot and expect from the events at the end things are going to get a lot more interesting around the Crossroads. This really went more into what happens when a shifter from a collection goes back to his life. This is why I really wish we had more from Samuel in the narrative.
Still loving this series and all the unique shifters. Sure, many of the stories are similar, but they are always entertaining!

Misty and Samuel meet outside the Crossroads in a weird and unusual situation when her small shifter form rides his cougar form out of captivity and she leads him and other shifters to freedom and safety.
In true Crossroads style, they meet and fall in love quickly, after all everyone who enters the Crossroads is ready for love. I really liked these two, and their very different beast sides amused me. I also like that this story continued with a bit of action and intrigue after they returned mated to the normal world.
I definitely recommend this as another quick read in the Crossroads series. It has the same chemistry and quirky characters that I’ve come to expect from the series.
I really liked this book. Just the right mix of romance, action, suspense, and comedy. I can not wait for the next adventure. (My new favorite animal is a Sugar Glider. I have never heard of them before, a relative to a kangaroo and koala, but I may just have to buy one.) Love the new shifter animals, and the magic that is Crossroads. Keep the books coming.
