Once again we see all the characters we learned to love in the first book. The main character is an officer who has overcome some personal tragedies and stayed strong. In the beginning we open to find someone she deeply cared for has been taken from her, and she vows revenge.

This is the third book I have read by this author. Although I love crime dramas, this series seems more like a romance with a back drop of crime. Romance is not really my preferred genre. As for the writing and story, it flows well and the author does inject surprises into her work. I think one of my problems is that I personally do not like the main character. That is MY personal preference and others may connect well with her. She just seems to me to be a tramp who will sleep with anyone and needs a man to be whole. That in itself if the direct opposite of the strong woman the character is supposed to be. However, as I said, others may think her sexual freedom is strong.

The writing style is good and it flows well. There are few to no errors and the book does stand alone although part of a series. If you have not read the author's Prowl, be sure to read that one. If you enjoy this book, you will enjoy that one as well.
