Nimue, daughter of Hook, is desperate to prove to her parents that she’s just as brave and as much of a pirate as they are. So when she serendipitously spies the hidden isle, she knows what she must do. A fearsome creature known as the Sea Hag is reputed to be hiding thirteen soul orbs within its sands and rumor has it any pirate brave enough to trespass there and snatch one up will be able to harness the power of the hag as his or her own. And that’s just what Nimue aims to do. But, as is often her lot in life, things go horribly awry.
Sircco, King of the Sea, has no time for leggers. Those vile creatures in the Above also known as humans, and pirates are the worst of the lot. But when a feminine cry reaches his ears, his curiosity gets to him and against his better judgment finds himself offering the hag a trade for the wild, little legger with eyes of blue and hair the deepest color of his seas.
Human and merfolk do not fall in love with each other. It is simply impossible. But in Kingdom, there is no such thing as the impossible, merely obstacles a certain fairy godmother can easily overcome with a little fairy magic and some help from a few friends in very high places…
A Pirate’s Dream is the final book in the Dark Princess Saga.
Marie Hall is a USA Today Bestselling author and has always held a dangerous fascination for creatures that go bump in the night. And mermaids. And of course fairies. Trolls. Unicorns. Shapeshifters. Vampires. Scottish brogues. Kilts. Beefy arms. Ummm... Bad boys! Especially the sexy ones.
Then the day came she realized apart from the sexy bad boy she married, there'd be no vampires/shapeshifters/mermaids/fairies/or even stinky trolls in her future unless she wrote about them. More often than not she can be found roaming the wild, lush tropical forest she calls her backyard (a.k.a. Hawaii) and day dreaming constantly about her latest project.
Her Mad Hatter is the first book of her Kingdom Series.
She loves to hear from her readers and can be reached at mariehallwrites@gmail.com!
She did it again, that wench! lol! I love, love, love, the worlds that Marie Hall/Jovee Winters wields! Each story has its own fingerprint, its own life and identity that it breathes into you. Grabs you and doesn't let you go. The way many characters make cameos in each other's stories, even if it is slightly in the background! I LOVE IT! I love the spin she adds to age old fairy tales and its wonderfulness of it all. Oh its full of magic...not magick! as she so aptly made that distinction before. Which I appreciated and enjoyed reading (woman after my own heart, often thought the same myself when it came to this settings.) Just loving the books in the works. Not only is it enchanting to read upon spin offs of the age old fairy tales, but exciting to look forward to reading of crosses between kingdom characters, greek mythology characters, and then some. The machinations of her mind are just seduction. I can't wait for more!
Wow this story like all the rest was captivating, infuriating, funny, a bit of a tear jerker, and all kinds of what the fuckery!?
I loved how Nimue (loving the name btw) brought Sircco to his knees. The blustering fool didn't stand a chance, aye, and the lass was a her daddy's daughter through and through!! A Pirate, Aargggh! ...but anyway, I will be back to finish this review. I am binjing on so many books.
Disappointed. I wanted to read this book the most in this series. Okay maybe this book and Huntsman's Prey was in first place, but.... I liked this book least of all. Nimue lived-lives in a golden cage. With her parents and in my opinion with King of Sea also. I know that Kingdom is all about destiny, true love and so on... But her parents playing matchmakers? No, please No. Also if Sircco is the only living merman, then why could't he picked someone with a tail? And... Nimue Is the only fully human, least extraordinary, character in Dark Princess Kingdom series. Why couldn't she inherit her mother's souls - Thalia's abilities with some kind of dark twist or something. But noooo.... She is a pirate... And not really good one at that.
I thought the romance between Nimue and Sircco moved a little too quickly. I liked Sircco as a character but Nimue annoyed me. And the great fear of Peter Pan was solved too easily. Not my favorite of the series. I hadn't read Kingdom series in awhile since the stories were getting a little dull for me, but I remember why I like the world so much. I have a couple of her Dark Queen books already downloaded so I will still check them out.
A re-read-still great! ---------------------- A love story about Hook and Trishelle's daughter....yes please! I really liked this! I enjoyed the dark princess books, just as much as I enjoyed the villain books. Nimue was fun to read about and this book took mermaid romance to a whole new level. I'm looking forward to the Dark Queens!
Man I hated this story... Three stars for effort only.. Nimue was a spoiled lil girl who was soo willingly naïve,your think the word was created JUST for her. Who was Nimue? Was she the young girl/young woman who was “brave” enough to take on a “sea hag” / witch in a very foolhardy attempt to show her parents she’s growing up ,in hopes of putting an end to their smothering ways ? Or is the flighty overly innocent naive virgin, who spends over 75% of the story either running from Sircco ever little slight . Sircco looks at her wrong or doesn’t say exactly what she wants to hear when she wants to hear it,and she’s off like some moody broody bratty teenager,in some moody broody angst ridden teenage soap. Then the next minute her stomach is all rumbley from wick of wild hormonal butterflies 🦋and she’s off again. Shame she wasn’t a race horse maybe it would have been more interesting ... I’m supposed to see her as what ? Entertaining? Amusing? Aaaaaaaaaaaaa,no and heck no. Nimue seemed soo smart and amazing when she was in Calypso’s story, where she gets together with Hades, which is oddly tacked on at the end of Nimue’s parents story.. Doesn’t make sense because it takes place after this but oddly enough it’s the only story I’ve read soo far I’ve truly enjoyed.. Calypso, is a bit of an odd cookie and definitely Kansas is the beat of her own drum, but even when she was at her most peculiar and lol 😂, trying to make Hades her “love slave”,she unlike her daughter in law,was entertaining and fun. Something I just can’t say here. Nimue was a weird flighty pain in n the rear and if they’d had daisies down in the “under” ,she’d have plucked them all apart players g he loves me ,I love him not... Yeah, her version would be different. Then after dithering thought out almost the entire story, she finally has a very awkward sex scene with Sircco. One minute She’s worried and jumpier than a virgin at a prison rodeo ( Thanks for that one “Blanche” ( Golden Girls) Nd the next she’s trying to take control of Sircco and calling him “ beluga” , you know like the whale? Yeah that be sexy... and that’s from a woman child, that even after being raised on a ship full of rowdy misbehaving men,she looks at his cock and see the color and pre cum and has the nerve to ask, is it crying ? Does it hurt ? Crying ? Dear lord. I couldn’t take it,I slipped some after and next I know she’d been kidnapped and is making a certain evil never growing up boy in green tights wet himself because suddenly she’s so fierce with him. Seriously? WTH?!?!?! Again the evil boy is taken away unpunished ... Why ? Who knows .. If you can catch Hooks story either on sale or KU, I highly recommend Calypso story... It’s the end of Hooks story but so far out of four books now,it’s the only One I’d recommend. Alice and Hatters story was just to strange and disconnects and didn’t enjoy Gerard/Gaston’s story at all..
I liked Nimue. She was still very innocent for being Hook's daughter, but she also has a strength of self and isn't a pushover at all. I enjoyed her interest and joy at being under the sea. She's so interested in the world around her. Of course Sircco is a sexy merman and being king makes him unused to having someone resist jumping if he said jump. He's resistant to letting anyone in let alone a legger.
I liked watching these two dance around each other. Nimue knows what she wants and she's not going to settle for less with anything. Sircco's scared to open himself up again, but finds himself drawn to Nimue and not sure what to do with all the feelings. Everyone in their lives setting them up for their fall was a fun bit of silliness.
Altogether this was a good conclusion to the Dark Princess part of the Kingdom series. I'm looking forward to continuing with Kingdom with The Dark Queen's and Marie Hall's newer pen name.
What can I say about these Kingdom books that I haven't already said. This one was just as wonderful as the last 10.5. A strong fascinating female lead, Hook's daughter, and lottsa merfolk. I'm sad to be finishing the last of the Bad Boys and Princesses of fairy tales, but the Kingdom saga evidently doesn't end with this book. If you read this and still need your Kingdom fix, don't despair. Kingdom lives on in two new sets, the Dark Queen and Dark King books. These books are all under a new pen name, Jovee Winters. The Sea Queen is next in the Kingdom story and, as I always warn, these tales are more fun if read in chronological order. So, I'm off to start a new adventure in Kingdom and I hope to see more of Nimue and Sircco in the Kingdom books to come.
I've now finished all the kingdom books, as I accidentally read the dark queens and kings first, and I really hope there's more to come. I am in love with each and every story in their own way. I can't wait to go on the hunt for more books from Marie/Jovee. HIGHLY recommend and PS to get all the little details, jokes, references and to see the whole big picture of kingdom, start from the beginning. Happy Reading 📚💜
My absolute favorite of the Dark Princesses series. It was fun and a bit angsty, but not overfilled with over the top Big Bads. It made me smile and laugh out loud. The 2 MCs were perfectly fleshed and their love felt a bit more real than the others. An enjoyable way to end the series.
This was a lovely addition to Kingdom. The Sea King finally meets his mate with a legger. It was not smooth sailing to start but things gots better for the couple. An enjoyable read. A few editing issues, but they didn't really detract from the story.
I have feel completely in love with this series. All of the kingdom books have been good and keep me reading until the end. Sircco and Nimue story is one of my ultimate favorites.
I always love the plots, but the smutty descriptions just leave me laughing. "Was his penis crying?" is a real line and I don't care how much of a virgin Nimue is, it's a ridiculous line.

Ah, l'amore! *sigh*, no one writes it quite like Marie Hall.
I used to be quite lax with my star ratings but now I love this series so much that everything else I try to read outside of Kingdom is manure. Sad but true. That's the worst thing about this series, the books end and I have to come back to the real world or try immerse myself in a new one and part of me just doesn't want to let go. I'm trapped in Kingdom and I cant get out ... please don't send help just send more adventures haha.
The characters are so easy to fall in love with and the world stuffs my inner child to bursting with adventures through my favourite fairy-tales. It's very easy to get swept away with and I can't help but feel a sense of disorientation once it's all done and I have to move onto something else.
The only bad things I have to say about this installment was it could've done with a little more elaboration and conflict. Firstly six months are crammed into 17 chapters. I wanted it to slow down and tell me every little adorable, love sick detail. It seemed like other than visiting her Great Mother there really wasn't much else to do in the Under. I would've loved more locations I suppose. Don't get me wrong I loved what was there, I just wanted more. I'm greedy and want my Kingdom stories to never end, like a child refusing to go to bed without first hearing 'just one more story'.
Secondly there wasn't really much conflict in this one. There's a little jealousy and Peter Pan shows his ugly, spiteful mug but it seems more like a token gesture. Ever since Hook's Pan I wanted there to be a real ass whooping for the little brat. Any real "danger" seems to be missing, in comparison to the previous books. There was lots and lots of love and trying to deny the inevitable but not really much conflict to achieve the ultimate goal. It's lacking a little darkness is all.
Simply: the books could easily have been 50-60 chapters longer ... aka 'Why did it have to end!?!'.
I really enjoyed reading Nimue and Sircco's story. I must admit I haven't read all The Kingdom books but I loved this. I plan to read this series from the beginning.
Both Nimue and Sircco are likeable characters including Sirenade as well. I liked that their meeting was planned by Danika with the help of others. I should have known their meeting was a set up but everything work out for the best.
Nimue has a strong personality and I understood why she wanted to prove something to her parents. At the same time she never realized that everything has been planned out for her in order for her to meet Sircco. I liked how she interacts with the merfolk and the meaning of her name fits her perfectly.
Judging from Sircco's past, he lived a lonely existence especially when the one person he thought he loved chose another. He never realized it would be the child of that person that would make his heart whole. He deserved his own HEA after everything.
The interaction between Nimue and Sircco was funny. They like going back and forth in their relationship. They were both stubborn about it but I enjoyed that part. It wasn't over the top. What I liked most was that Nimue was his alone and I loved how they confessed their love for one another. It was about time they admitted it.
I also felt for the other two maiden characters and I'm happy about the decisions both Nimue and Sircco made for them. They are good rulers not that Sircco and his sister weren't before.
I also understood why Hook and Trishelle did those things for their daughter because they too understood what would happen if ever those two would meet. They are good parents.
I hoped there will be a part in the future books in which we could glimpse their after story when they have their own children.
Another job well done by the author.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)
I knew before even buying this book that it would be as great as all the others in this series! I fell in love with the kingdom series back at book one and fell even more in love with it not. This book was filled with so much love and magic that you could almost feel it was you there in the waters! I enjoyed the names that they called each other. Nicknames only people in love would not mind. This book is about true love finding itself between two unlikely people. The trailers of coming together regardless of the way their worlds thought of each other. It was a great book full of laughs and even a few years. Of hopes and dreams. It was is the perfect fairytale! For us adults that is. ;) if you have read any of the other kingdom books then you already know how wonderful and magical it is. I do not give book reports, so sorry if that's something you was looking for. I only tell you what I thought of the book. And I think it is just as perfect as the rest of the series. I'm sad to see this series end. But I know there is only more great stories to come so I ha e that to look forward to! I know you will enjoy this book. So don't hesitate any longer... go forth and fall in love with the sea world as I have! You will not be disappointed!!!
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
A rollicking good tail (pun intended) of Captain Hook's daughter finding and catching her (Mer)man.
This fast paced story of the human Nimue (a Legger) and her king of the sea Sircco (folk/merman) is charming and funny. The author manages to imbue her characters with a witty and sometimes wicked sense of humour which captures the imagination and keeps one thinking of reading further even when busy with mundane chores like feeding the family.
The author again does not fail to deliver a delicious upside down fairy tale that captures the imagination from beginning to end and left me wanting the story to carry on and on and.............
If you have not yet done so, do yourself the favor of reading the whole series, starting with Her Mad Hatter. Fantasy at its irreverand best.

4.5 Rating. This is my first foray into the Kingdom series by Marie Hall. It most definitely won't be my last! I thoroughly enjoyed this adventurous tale of fantasy and romance. I mean Hook has a daughter, how can it not be interesting?
I found the descriptions and world building impeccable, and the characters and relationships easy to relate to even in a fantasy world. Miss Hall has a way with words, forgive the cliche', but it is true. Vivid. Colorful. Creative. I couldn't really ask for more. Thank you for allowing me to read this treasure of a book. I would definitely recommend.
Well, this is my first review,, hope you find it useful guys! This book is sweet and wonderful, it's a story about hook's daughter. If you love hook from hook's pan, kingdom series 5, you will love this book for sure. It is very good, and miss Marie Hall is a brilliant writer. Read it you won't regret it. The book is very good I recommend the OUAT series to adapt this book.
What an escape.. Another wonderful book in the utterly fabulous Kingdom series, always the perfect blend of fairy tale, adventure and romance. It is well written with a great plot and well developed characters. Once again Marie Hall created a beautifully descriptive world you can escape and immerse yourself in. I can't wait for the Dark Queens of Kingdom.. I would recommend this book and all Kingdom books.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review via Lovers of Paranormal.
Another un-put-down able book! I read it straight through in one go, aside from lunch etc. :-)
This author writes incredible stories based on the characters you know from your childhood with a completely new ADULT twist. Always fun, always interesting and always hot! This one was a slant on Hook and Peter Pan, and a really great slant too.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and, as always, the characters.
