Para un “ciudadano preocupado” como yo este libro es muy interesante. La figura de Gabriel Turbay era completamente desconocida para mí y conocer la historia de personajes que han moldeado la realidad en Colombia siempre es valioso, y más cuando se trata de alguien que fue tan influyente durante la República Liberal (1930-1946).

Hay un aspecto que valoro mucho de la autora y es su transparencia al hacer saber al lector desde un inicio que no pretende ser objetiva ni evitar juicios de valor e interpretaciones de los hechos. Más allá de mi acuerdo o desacuerdo con sus apreciaciones, el saber desde que posición ideológica (izquierda) está escrito el libro ayuda a valorarlo con mayor precisión.

Me gustó mucho conocer otra cara de Jorge Eliecer Gaitán. Siempre tan esquivo a miradas críticas de quien fue y lo que hizo.

It is a great reading about the history of Colombia, and represents a mandatory revision of the field about the political parties the truth about the life of Gaitan, but the principal topic is the life of a great human that was Gabriel Turbay. The author explores the life of Gabriel from his political views, with historical facts, paper news, testimonial and other things that complement the perspective. Something that does not fit properly, at my point of view, it's the study actual field of the left in the country, because I think that is an aislated point of view, without perspective of the last decades, but that is a minor item in comparative of the great topics that the book studies.
