Magic and things that goes bump in the night? Thousand year old vampire and powerful witches. Strong minded independent female character, this story needed someone exactly like that to make the magic happen. Finding more answers to her birthright caused a ripple effect which diminish the peace and tranquility she was so accustom too. This story contained all the excitement you expect but it had more. She, the protagonist Olivia endured so much in a short span of time and I guess it had to be tha ...more

It seemed like I waited yrs for this book, I expected better. When it comes to trilogies, the 2nd book is usually the weaker book & I really hate to say this 1 was no different. Olivia finally laid the smack down on the big bad but she had a lil help. I didn't expect that to happen till the 3rd book. I didn't get enough Will time but Josef grew on me. The Vamp party was all kinds of hot, especially what happened right after. I love when men give u deadly objects as a gift. Or, it could be th ...more

This one is the next book in a series about a woman as she seeks revenge on bad guys amid family drama and supernatural politics. It’s got clever dialogue and enjoyable action. Those are the good parts.

The bad parts are just the sex scenes. I have no problem with their existence. Sex in supernatural fiction is often well-done. But here, the scenes don’t seem to be in character. The people she makes the sexy-time with are not all good guys. The scenes appear suddenly like in porn. They’re so dist

When you read this story it seems so compelling and real you forget it is a supernatural tell of intrigue, love. war, betrayal and of course saving the world. This tells me what a great writer the author is. When OLivia finds she has power, finds she has a father alive who is a wizard, has a vampire as a lover and another as a friend and a time walker and and other friends. Olivia looses her mother to murder and the Council of secrets needs her to find away to stop one o

Dive into a world filled with witches, vampires, time walkers, spirit guides and all sorts of magic and mystical creatures.
Olivia Shepherd spent her childhood in San Francisco. She was raised by her single mother and for the most part, she lived a peaceful life. That peace ended the day she found out who and what her father was. Knowing she now had super-natural blood flowing through her veins, she begins to struggle, trying to come to terms with her new life and responsibili

Dark Horse continues the Dark Horse Trilogy saga with Book Two. Having set the scene with characters, motivations, and perspectives, it presents the ongoing impact of a family secret and the continuing involvement of a vampire with evil designs.

The smooth evolution of scenes between the setup of Woman King and the continuing adventure provided in Dark Horse creates a compelling story that follows the continuing uncertain progress of Olivia's life.

Here she's exploring her newfound powers, faces d
The stakes definitely went up in this book, but it never really seemed like Olivia took them seriously because she just didn't seem to care. Some of the scenes with Josef and her made me uncomfortable, I feel like there was some consent lines that were being toed and it didn't sit well with me. I did appreciate that Elsa and Lily said that they were bisexual, always have been, and that it wasn't a big deal, and I also appreciated the amount of female friendship that was shown when they showed up ...more

Dark Horse is the second installment in the Dark Horse Trilogy. The story picks up with Olivia reeling from learning who her father is, learning about her undiscovered powers, and trying to choose between William and Josef. While dealing with all this, she had to deal with her estranged mother's death. Olivia doesn't seem as deeply impacted by her mother's death or her new relationship with her father as you would think she would be. I found the relationship between Olivia, William, and Josef to ...more

[I got this book for free from a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.]

I've noticed one downside of Goodreads giveaways is the luck I have in winning book 2s. This is, I believe, the third time I've won the second book in a series I've never read before, throwing me into the middle of the world, the story and the action.

So I was confused, yes. I do not hold that against the book, but against my not having read the first book in the set.

However, I also was not very...interested. The story did not grab

I won this book in a goodreads giveaway. I never really had an opinion about vampire books really...until now. I loved this book. Now let me qualify it. Olivia worked my nerves. She was all over the place, but given the fact that she didn't know what she was or who her father was and what the heck was going on with her life, I guess I can give her a pass? I don't know but her story made for some drama filled reading. The triangle between Olivia, Josef and William was interestingly different. The ...more

This was a well written supernatural story that I feel like I jumped into. I missed the first book and discovered this series through the second book. I intend to find the first and I can see this series easily becoming a movie. The story moved like I, the reader, was moving along with the characters lives. I ended up feeling like I wanted more and didn't want this one to end. I hope the author releases an audio book because I will not be reading city names Ljubljana out loud any time soon. This ...more
