Peter Reese Doyle is the author of the "Daring Adventure Series" for young readers, published by Focus on the Family as well as the historical series "Drums of War." Doyle writes historical novels "to interest boys and girls in the origins of our American Republic and the principles for which our forefather went to war against Great Britain," he says. "I want to cover the history of the war, using the form of historical fiction, to tell the real story of battles and events in that great struggle for personal liberty under constitutional government."

This series in a nutshell:

"After the teenagers’ desperate escape from a gang in the catacombs below the great French capital, Mrs. Daring had insisted that they go to Carcassonne for some rest and a safe vacation."
"How could three American teenagers cause so much trouble to a network of professional spies?"
"Henri put down his fork and looked at the three teens. 'How do you do it?' he asked, seriously. 'How do you get in all these scrapes?'"

A book of mystery, adventure, and lots of action. On the back, it says for ages 9 and up. I might wait til middle school at least, as there is some boy/girl interest. I thought that some of what happened to these teenagers was a bit unbelieveable and unrealistic, but I think young people will enjoy it. Clean, which I greatly appreciate. (Does use the word "gosh," which I'd prefer not.)

Noah gives it a 4.5
He's really enjoying these quick reads. He likes the characters. He feels like they could be his friends.

He keeps telling me that page 138 of book 4 was really emotional.
I wish he'd told me that BEFORE I brought the book back to the library. I want to see what he thinks is emotional.

Apparently there is a little budding romance. :-P

Note to Shreveport friends: The Shreve Memorial Library does not have these books in her system. They come quickly, though, when you submit an interlibrary loan through LoanShark. You can buy them on ebay and kindle. We may end up buying them, after all. Noah insists that he wants them for HIS children. :-)

FROM NOAH:
It was excellent. I'd give it 5 stars, but Mom won't let me. :-)
I don't want to ruin the book for you, but I hope all of my friends will read it, and then we can all talk about it. It's a great adventure and I know you'll like it.

Stuff blows up.
