NOTHING RATTLES SILVERMIST. She’s the calmest water-talent fairy around, and as cool as a deep mountain lake. But then an “unlucky” white ladybug lands on Silvermist’s head, and her orderly world goes topsy-turvy. She’s never been the type of fairy to lose things or have accidents or make mistakes . . . until now. Silvermist doesn’t believe in bad luck and silly old fairy superstitions. But all her troubles began after she found the white ladybug. Could the other fairies be right? Is Silvermist really under a curse?
Gail Herman, formerly a children's book editor in New York City, has written picture books, easy-to-reads, and chapter books, including many titles in the Who Was/What Was series. She lives in Newton, Massachusetts with her family.
Is this a juvenile chapter book? Yes but I read it out loud to my three year old sister per her request and it counts😂 Charlotte’s thoughts “I don’t like that book, too many words.” I did in fact warn her and show her multiple times that it was a chapter book with not many pictures, she insisted we read it anyway.
”All at once, Silvermist understood. The bright lights weren’t stars at all. They were light-talent fairies practicing their dance. ‘That’s what confused me.’ Cor a moment, Silvermist closed her eyes and pictured the changing shapes. ‘I guess I just wanted to believe so much…’”
My seven year old daughter loves the Disney fairies, and she really enjoyed hearing this book. I thought it was ok. I didn't love it, but it was good enough that I will continue to read her the other books in the Tales of Pixie Hollow series.
The ending was a little rushed, but this is a literal children’s book so I will forgive it. This was my favorite one so far the vibes were immaculate. Silvermist and Fira ATE. Also Silvermist is better than everyone there I said it argue with the wall.
i hate superstition so it's two stars, but I gave additional one star because I'm a library-biased and Silvermist go to the library to solve her problems (p.56).
Vidia was naughty, but she wasn't all bad. I mean, she woke Silvermist up for some reason. If this is not a children book, the story may go as well as revealing that Vidia was the fairy behind all those bad lucks. But (un)fortunately it's not, so it stays as a mere bad luck.
Tink didn't get highlighted here, because it's mostly on Silvermist and how she went everywhere to prove that she had no curse on her.
I love her optimism. Despite having all the ideal appearances for girls (blue dress, long hair, water-talent), Silvermist is a strong fairy!
I also wanted to believe that she wasn't cursed. The rare ladybug seemed.. I don't know, magical? I wish, it'll do good to her one day. Anyway, Fawn and other animal fairies shouldn't believe such superstition.. Poor, ladybug!
I am on a mission to get my hands on every single Tales of Pixie Hollow books as only few were ever translated into Finnish but they were my absolutely favourite growing up, so to honour younger me; I am reading them now.
This was such a fun little book! Silvermist is one of my favourite characters alongside Vidia and I was so excited that this book not only focused on Silvermist but also featured Vidia a lot!
In this one Silvermist finds an extremely rare white ladybug that brings bad luck and now everyone thinks she is cursed! And maybe she is cursed because bad things seem to be happening wherever she goes.
vidia is LITERALLYYY the cause of 98% of all issues going on in pixie hollow. again, kinda wish the characterization was more fleshed out, but i feel like this gives a little more on fira which is nice. fr tho vidia has the best characterization bc she’s literally always causing problems and being a general menace
I didn't like how Silvermist actually got so upset about the curse and was paranoid about it. However, I DID like how Silvermist realized that Vidia was just getting to her head and ignored it and realized curses don't exist.

Silvermist was interesting and very calm to read about. Her tale was interesting and very well done. She really found her inner strength and worked through the insecurity's. It was stunning and very enjoyable to read.
Memory Lane Readathon: Book Eight Rating: 3 Stars ✨ Nostalgic Rating: 4 Stars ✨
While I hadn’t read this book in the series before, it was really nice to go back to Pixie Hollow!! The characters are so cute and fun. The plot wasn’t the best, but it was still a pretty good book.
Review by K.P. : "I liked that it was fantasy and the author's writing. I wish that this library had the novels. I would recommend it to people who like fantasy."
