Kevin used to have the perfect life. Now, dumped by his popular girlfriend, Kevin leaves for a summer in Spain with his best friend, and his life seems anything but perfect. Taking classes he can't understand, living with a very odd host-family, trying to get the attention of a girl with whom he has no chance, and dealing with a guy who has a dark side and who seems to be out to get him, Kevin escapes into a book and enters a world of long-ago adventures. As the boundaries between his two worlds begin to blur, Kevin discovers that nothing is as it appears...especially at night!
Worst book I've ever read. Literally no plot and the ending was stupid and the names were way too confusing. Like Alfonso, Alfredo, and Alejandro. Or zorya soraya zyhedra zebra honestly, do you think all triplets have the same name? Kevin was a whiny loser who expected the universe to just give him whatever he wanted, just because his girlfriend ghosted him and Alfonso beat him up. Alfonso was a phyco. Soraya was a ghost or something. Dylan was okay, but Maria Jesus was the only character even remotely interesting, and that is only because of her name and her having bottles of blood in her fridge. My overall thoughts: that is four hours of my life I will never get back.
Read this for Spanish and it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever read, but it was really random lol. I swear it changed genres in the middle 😭. But it definitely wasn’t good lol. 3/5 ⭐️
Kevin obviously has feelings for Dylan, but he is too much of a basic bitch to say anything. And what did the king have to do with the plot? I am proud of Tanya for dumping Kevin. He is just a shit. I liked the part where Alfonso broke Kevin's nose. The story was like a long road trip and every once and a while someone yells "COW!" 1/5 do not read. My teacher forced us to read this. The work sheets we did were horrible.
kevin was such a pussy, he was def the worst character. alfonso was amazing and hot as heck and kevin was 100% the bad guy. i loved tanya for leaving him bc that’s what kevin the perfectionist deserves. the ending was ok and yes lolsnsbsndnsn
This book was the best book I ever read.. it really my eyes to all those bozos out in the world. The names are spectacular: zoraya, soraya, and idk the ones name, but it’s probably zoraaya. I enjoyed Maria Jesus and Kevin is a tryhard. All in all it was a terrible book.
The plot sucks, kevin is a whiny bitch boy who should of died. Glad tanya left him. Alfonso is crazy and i do not care for s(z)oraya. Dillan was the only normal character. If i could give this a 0 i would.
Kevin is literally the most annoying character in this story. There prob wouldn't have been that long of a plot if Kevin finally realized that he isn't entitled to everything and not everyone lives perfect little lives. Just cuz he was broken up with by his girlfriend (good), doesn't mean he is entitled to everything after that. he can't even pull tbh (bad). Anyways, I really did enjoy the parts where Alfonso would bully him. I genuinly believe Alfonso is a good character. I just really hated how Kevin would constantly call the foods that Maria Jesus would cook for them "discusting" cuz honestly he needs to be humbled. Maria Jesus was a great character, honestly she was a queen but what annoyed me was how we didnt even get anything on her at the end. The ending was so annoying too cuz Kevin's ego was "healed" again or whatever after what soraya did for him. Honestly Soraya should have just ignored him he showed so many red flags. ANyways, dylan was a great character. I love him. It makes sense why Kevin would think Dylan's life is unperfect because kevin has prob always gotten what he wanted. but dylan is so cool, his character is actually relatable.
i read this for school and it made me somehow dislike spanish even more than i alr do like the plot doesnt make sense? the characters all have the mentality of a 12 year old the book is genuinely garbage whoever wrote this needs to end their life
This is the second book by Placido that I have read, and I have enjoyed it immensely. This is such a fun story and great for beginners learning Spanish. The book is thoughtfully structured into two sections: one in the present tense and the other in the past tense, which is perfect for grasping different aspects of the language.
A special thanks to my friend and reading partner Karen for her help and for pointing out things in the story that I would have missed on my own. Her insights made the experience even more enriching. Highly recommended for anyone starting their journey in Spanish!
This is a book in Spanish...you can read it in past tense or present tense. I read this one because my 11th grader is taking Spanish 2 and they were assigned this book recently. She needs help with an assignment regarding it and since Spanish is my second language, I needed to read it first to be familiar with it to help her. It was a very quick read for me...read it within a couple hours. The main character kind of annoyed me though. But the ending surprised me.
This book is unfortunately GARBAGE. Basura. Honestly when I read any books by this author it makes me want to sacar la basura because it’s so ass. Plot is more non existent than the square root of negative 1.
This book was very mysterious hence the name. It was a great book to get into spanish and I think it is easy for any high school spanish student to read. Crazy plot twist. 3/5 stars.
