A rare look behind the scenes of how Public Relations are dealt with in the automotive industry, from a lifelong automotive industry insider. The author was a top level PR guy at Nissan, Chrysler, and also with Ford during the Firestone tire debacle - one of the largest PR disasters in the history of the industry. Totally fascinating stuff. The Jesus part is in reference to the crusade that was waged by a subset of Christians in America against the automotive industry when they were making as ma ...more

One of my review partners read this book and reports that it is highly entertaining and even caused laughs out loud more than once. The information feels well researched and honest. What you learn here just might be important sometime down the road, and having read this book you will be more prepared. Some of the ideas presented seemed to grow from personal experience giving the book a more personal touch often lacking in other books with similar audience. We were provided an ARC in exchange for ...more

I have enjoyed cars since I was little so I thought this might be a good book to read. I wanted to know more about the politics of the industry. This book was very informative and thought provoking. I also like how the author used a bit of humor in writing. This book read very quickly for a non-fiction book. I am glad I got the chance to read this book.

Interesting and occasionally funny

This is a nice behind-the-scenes account of several big company issues helped tremendously by Mr. Vines' expertise. The only issue I had with this book is that apparently it was not edited much - there are a lot of misspellings and incoherent sentences. Where was editing?

I found the book to be educational, entertaining an eye-opening. Jason Vines did a great job of sharing his story while painting a visceral, behind-the-scenes picture of the car industry. I highly recommend this book!

Good chronicle of the whole Ford - Firestone fiasco. And some interesting insights into the world of marketing.

A fascinating insight into the car PR world. If that switches you off, avoid, but extremely well written. Jason Vines has a great style, which is entertaining and insightful.
