This could be a good book to use with years 2 to 4. It has strong links to science as it's all about inventions and includes some inventors who's ideas we use in every day life. It could inspire children to think creatively, particularly as some of Dotty's inventions are quite wild! It includes the National Science Museum, so if it was near the school it would be a perfect book to read before a trip. It's quite a long story but the mix of fact and fiction with Dotty and real inventions works well to keep children interested and engaged.

This is a great non-fiction book that engages children in a fun way to learn about different everyday inventions we use!

I learned some cool facts. I have NO idea how Dotty became a professor though.

Factoids propelled by a pretty weak, holey plotline.

Some real inventions with real facts mixed in with make believe. There is an interesting UFO twist too.
