Daniel and Elizabeth continue to grow closer, until a lie threatens to tear them apart for good. Can Daniel really be trusted or is he just like every other guy out there?
Episode 2 is approximately a 90-minute read.
This is a SERIAL ROMANCE told over 3 episodes. Episode 3, the final episode will be released on November 3rd!
J. (jenn) Sterling is a New York Times and USA Today best selling author of multiple contemporary romances. She lives in California with her only son, Blake. If you can't find her sitting behind a computer screen writing new stories, then there's a good chance she's sitting in the bleachers of a baseball stadium watching him play.
Jenn enjoys traveling to new places, meeting her readers and spending time with the love of her life, the one & only, Jack F'n Carter! Oh yeah, it's true. <3
After finishing Episode #1, I wanted more, and I did something with this particular serial that I haven't done in a long time. I read all three episodes -one after another. Those who know me will understand when I say that I never do that. I just wanted more Daniel and Elizabeth encounters as the romantic in me could see that Daniel loved Elizabeth and would do anything for her. Finally, after all these years, Elizabeth has met a wonderful man who loves her for who she is - the whole package. During Episode #2 Daniel finally breaks Elizabeth's walls, and the pair starts dating, and she is giving him her all which for her is a hard task. What happens though when Ben - her ex-boyfriend comes back into the picture and it seems that he knows Daniel? This episode finished on a major cliffhanger, one where I was like OMFG she just told Daniel about the worst moment in her life and after eight years Ben appears and he knows Daniel WTF? Heartless by J. Sterling is an addictive serial that will want you hopping onto your Kindle and immediately purchasing the next and final book as this is one of the few series of books I have read that is completely hooking.
It's good to see the heroine is still stupid as fuck and hasn't learnt anything. Le sigh...
Daniel, our hero, is like a dog with a bone in his pursue and that part was cute, true.
But his fascination and his strong belief that Elizabeth is NOT like the other girls is based on what exactly?
Their brief interaction at some function when they exchanged saliva and discussed their sex life? Or when she was acting like a bitter judgemental bitch during said interaction?
That part is still a huge mystery. Especially after his declaration that he isn't interested in just a fling and he wants something more.
Why again? Where this sudden change came from? Fuck if I knew.
But let me think if I care about it at this point...
Nah... I don't give a rat's behind.
I am only rounding this up because they didn't bang in this one (despite our heroine's pathetic attempts) and the ending was the only thing that got my attention (turns out the cheating ex from college (Ben?) knows Daniel because he (Daniel) is dating his sister.)
OMG, to say I am pissed is an understatement. I love Daniel Alexander with a passion, we see his true self in this book and he is actually really endearing, passionate, loving and sincere and I do actually believe every word that has come out of his mouth in this book. That is why the ending pissed me off 1) I don't believe it. 2) I don't want to believe it. 3) Why listen to others? Before taking action, ask the person!! Especially when said person speaking is such a freakin douche. Still I only have a week to wait for part 3...come on Jenn bring it on, I want to see my Daniel get the woman.
The chase continues nicely and then things fall apart…
The pursuit of Elizabeth continues and I really liked how things were progressing and feeling much better about Daniel’s intentions. Then we get to the end of the episode and I found myself annoyed. I know that some drama is needed for the story to continue considering the issues that Elizabeth has with men but I found it too much of a coincidence that after eight years she runs into the one man who caused her distrust of men and that it is that man who basically puts a halt to what was just beginning for her and Daniel. Seeing her just walk away made me want to shake some sense into this woman.
Elizabeth was disappointing though I like Daniel so much more than in episode one; he is for real and being with her means something to him. It is hard though to believe that a woman who is strong in her career and business has pretty much no will power when it comes to a man like Daniel and that she lets her assistant overstep her bounds the way she does. I was shaking my head that she trusts the word of the man who hurt her years ago without even questioning Daniel who was upfront that one of his prior commitments lost it when he broke things off with her, such a woman would definitely have misrepresented her relationship with him to her family.
Just in case there is any doubt, I am enjoying the read and I want to know how things turn out between these two but I think that serialization of this story hurts it for me. Just getting the pieces and having to wait to have my concerns allayed doesn’t work for all stories.
This reader is still cringing from the numerous instances of the word “that” missing. There are times when a word can be dropped from writing but when it is noticeably missing by the reader then it shouldn’t have been removed.
Heartless is one story broken into three episodes - all three are short fun sexy books and together create a super funny sexy story. Told from first person point of view and back and forth between Elizabeth and Daniel. Elizabeth is a very strong confident self assured woman who doesn't need or want a man but life has other plans. Daniel is a very sexy man who is use to getting what he wants and he wants Elizabeth. Elizabeth eventually lets some of her walls come down and then the fun begins. The writing in the story and the banter between these two is laugh out loud funny. This book is very entertaining and super sexy! For more indie book reviews: Myindieauthorfix.com
I am going to go insane waiting for the next one, this is torturous but so sooo good. I devoured reading the first episode and then completed reading the second one as soon as I could, and holy smokes Daniel is delicious! I'm sure he could charm a nun right out of her habit and into his bed, though men as charming as he often have secrets and man oh man did Jenn leave us with a doozy of a cliffhanger this episode. I hope Elizabeth isn't about to have her trust completely broken all over again...
This is the wrong version of « what the fuck did I just read? ». It started okay, really. And then, it lost track completely and managed to insult me and every stay-at-home mom in the world but hey, the MMC feels like we’re doing a great job raising children even though we’re mindless sheep living for everyone else but ourselves and having zero ambition whatsoever.
I’m reading this in order to win some points for my team in a reading challenge or else I would have thrown the book into the trash and lit the bin on fire.
I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M GOING TO HAVE TO READ EPISODE 3 OMG.

🇫🇷 CHRONIQUE 🇫🇷
Voici venir la mauvaise version de "Putain, qu'est-ce que je viens de lire ?". Ça a bien commencé, vraiment.
Elizabeth Lyons has one rule for herself: No Distractions. No distractions basically translates into No Men; which definitely means HELL NO when it comes to Daniel Alexander. After a chance meeting at a professional function Daniel is not interested in letting Elizabeth go. No matter how much Elizabeth tries to stay away from Daniel, he's not the kind of guy who lets something he wants walk out of his life. The question is, will she let him catch her? Unfortunately this book was just too sickly sweet for me so much so I needed to visit the dentist after reading it. The story line is predictable, the characters were sugary sweet and the sex was mediocre, just not my type of book.
There are things you see coming and things you don't. That was definitely the later. Elizabeth is fast becoming like a friend and the way she is is a place we have all been at some point in our lives so you feel for her and understand where she is coming from. Daniel is everything you want in a man and he's not afraid to go after what he wants and what woman wouldn't love him pursuing them? As they get closer the more I fall in love with the pair but after that twist? Who knows what's around the corner!
Authors really need to stop playing and riding with the serial books that they like to release. These three part books are really unnecessary when they could just sit down and write an entire novel to release. Reading this one section at a time home doesnt paint this story in the best light. Reading all three books as once in one mini novel set up is much better. I recommend if you’re going to try out this story to do it via audible so that you can read all three books at once. This is really sad because this could’ve been a much better story and series.
Just when Elizabeth was warming up to Daniel, shit hits the fan. I would think being as level headed and string willed as she is that Elizabeth would have confronted Daniel with the news she just found out, but I also know that emotions run high and people don't always think things through during those times.
And of course with an ending like that, I must get the final episode to find out how everything ends.
Still feeling all the feels from Episode #1, Heartless stays true. These are fun vignettes. It’s nice to read a refreshing to just have these moments of passion and truth and fun!
Then we are left with our heartless moment and the feeling of what will happen in the next episode.
Part 2, they're falling for each other. Still, when things get going, something happens to make it all come down. Sterling makes the disruption in their relationship a great one.
great episode. It's like a book version of my favorite tv romance drama. There's a case of WHY?!? and a case of Oh No She Didn't! and a little bit of Don't Fall For It! and a lot of GO GET WHAT YOU WANT AND STOP BEING SO DUMB ABOUT IT!!!! Fun and quick. Nice bubblegum for the mind. D 4/5
This series was just ok for me. The writing is good and it is a quick, easy read, but I felt it was rather bland. Not much happens, it's pretty low on angst and character development. I finished it in one day, but I can tell it's not going to be one of those books I can remember anything about in a week.
These episodes are short, about an hour and a half read, but I feel as if I'm reading a 200 page book. There's so much character development and plot twists that it feels as if the story is longer than it is. I also love that the main characters are relatable and most importantly, likable.
Daniel is trying to win the affections of Elizabeth, the woman who has captured his heart. One problem. She wants nothing to do with him. But Daniel doesn't take no for an answer, knowing that what he's feeling for Elizabeth must be something worth looking into.
Elizabeth has been burned in the past, so when she looks at Daniel, and thinks about how much she wants to be with him, that scares her. Can she trust Daniel with her heart? What happens when a lie comes in-between them? Will she find the courage to stay by Daniel's side, or will she keep her distance to protect her heart?
I found this book very enjoyable and I'm very excited to read what happens next in Elizabeth and Daniel's relationship! Their characters are so much fun to read about and the story-line is entertaining.
I highly recommend this book!
My favorite quotes:
“Settling on a pen, I chucked it across the room and it landed square on his forehead with a dink sound. Nailed it!”
“When I look at you, I see that fire. maybe I respect it so much just because I can relate to it. I don’t know, but I do know that I want someone who gets what I’m going through every day. I want someone who knows how to build me up and makes me a better man. Because that’s exactly what I want to do for her.”
I loved the first episode in the Heartless series, and have just finished reading episode #2, and it keeps getting better and better. You will need to read episode #1 to understand the story and enjoy the characters. They are quick reads (approx 90 minutes), so it won't take you long to catch up.
I enjoy the concept of these quick episodes, and the fact that they are released a week apart is great! I find its like a tv series. You watch the show every week to see whats happening with your favourite characters, and Heartless is exactly the same. I am looking forward to Mondays for this very same reason... more Daniel and Elizabeth! What a beautiful romance story! I fell in love with Daniel a whole lot more in this book, is he the perfect man? You'll have to read to find out. There are so many funny quotes in this book that had me laughing out loud. My favourite would be from Barbara, Elizabeths very funny assistant- 'If you weren't turned on by that man who was just in your office, then you are officially dead inside. Death by vagina neglect. We should probably have a funeral'. The author has added her own style of humour, and it is hilarious to read. I am glad the next book will be out in a week, as the way it ended had me screaming for more. I am secretly hoping J Sterling is hiding something from us, and there will be more than 3 episodes, as I don't want their story to end....ever! Bring on Monday, I say.
Another wonderful episode. As the passion between Elizabeth and Daniel heats up and they start spending more time together, Daniel needs to be extra cautious so as not to spook her into running away. Trust is hard for Elizabeth and extra hard with such a sexy handsome Daniel. They start to open up about their pasts and emotions making Daniel more determined than ever that they are going to be a couple, as he keeps flying those 500 miles daily to see her.....so sweet and a keeper. Hoping to show Elizabeth that he is committed to them as a couple he confessing giving up his 2 sex buddies the night he met her......but will this backfire in his face as a lie is told? Again another wonderful display of emotions: fear, distrust, lust, passion, heartache, pain......along with more amazing witty dialogue......and the entertaining Barbara and James makes for another fun fast read. Can't wait to read the final episode.
