Yasuhiko Nishizawa was born in 1960 in Akashi, Japan. He studied Creative Writing in the United States, before returning to Japan and beginning to write murder mysteries while working as a university assistant and high school lecturer.
First time reading this author’s book but loved it!!! Deeply criticised dysfunctional Asian family dynamics along with the main detective storyline🥹 surprising & inspiring
For the last two years at Christmas Eve, someone has jumped off a certain building. Nearly one year after the last event, the university students that were present at the latter scene end up finding out that a present from the dead woman got mixed up with their own, and so try and figure out the truth behind everything. Though the mystery isn't that impressive, I was very much enthralled by the central theme of this book. It's filled with malice, and is definitely not something I'll forget. I also like the central characters, Tuck and Takachi, and how they revolve being detectives through the series, and I like how the ending of The Night She Died impacts the ending of this one.
