escape Down Under...and find love in Summer Beach, where cold noses touch warm hearts
Sara needs to escape—and an idyllic seaside town on the other side of the world seems like the perfect place. She’d always wanted to visit Australia, but the first thing she meets on the gorgeous, white sand beach is not a kangaroo but a wounded, lost Beagle!

This is a sweet clean romance and a great start to the series. There were times when Sara just got on my last nerve but Craig and Happy the beagle made up for it.

Sara goes to Australia to get away from her life. Her dating life is now fodder for the paps and they are ripping her apart. To getaway she lands in Summer Beach at her cousin's house. Along the way she has met some interesting characters and began to hear a different way to speak.
One day at the beach, Sara finds a hurt dog and brings h

This was a really sweet story. Not smutty at all, but very sweet. Not sure the cover couple match the story participants, but that's OK. Basically, Sara is a bigger girl. I'm not sure we learn really HOW big, but she's definitely not the super skinny of all the actresses in LA, where she lives. And where she crossed paths with a Hollywood hunk who made her feel special. Apparently, it was all a PR stunt. And, of course, being involved with a star means paparazzi and all manner of invasions of pr ...more

I understand that this is meant to be a light and fluffy beach read but I couldn't quite appreciate it. It was really cheesy with little to no character development and instalove. It also felt like a little too much emphasis was placed on Aussie slang. Like how many can I possibly cram into one sentence (though I've never been so it may simply be my ignorance). Also, I was ridiculously pissed that the hero dismissed someone saying "Did he really ditch you because you are too fat? Was he cheating ...more

Loved it. Just an enjoyable little read. Loved the characters and the description of the scenery and excursions. Highly recommend.

5 Doggy Stars

I was given this book for my honest review.

The saying goes that dogs are a man’s best-friend but when you really sit and think about that what does it include? Why is it just dogs? What makes dogs so special that they warrant more merit? Do dogs actually have more power over one than another pet? Do dogs have a sixth sense about them that brings out more than a cat, bird, snake or another animal? Are they matchmakers or can they read our minds? This is a mystery that will have us al

Playing for Love is book one in H.Y. Hanna's Summer Beach Vets series and is a very sweet and fun story. If you are looking for an entertaining, quick read which is perfect for an afternoon relaxing on the beach or snuggling up next to the fireplace on a rainy day, this is a book for you.

Sara needs to get away from LA and the hurt she is left with after a very public split with her celebrity boyfriend which ends up splashed on the covers of the tabloids. So she decides to take a vacation to visi

I was torn about what to rate this book and finally thought about 2.5 stars.

I actually read Summer Beach Vets 2.5 "Playing Santa" first, which I liked better and couldn't help drawing comparisons. Firstly, there were several descriptive phrases that came up in both books and the hero's eyes "darkened" many times - once okay, but it was enough times for me to notice. I also felt in this book there was more "telling" than "showing." Their last week together was basically described as "the most mag

Sara needed an escape after a very public romance went off the rails. A visit to her cousin in Australia seemed like a great idea. Surely the paparazzi would not follow her there. All she wanted was a break and she could go back to L A and her normal life.

One beach, one beagle and one handsome veterinarian changed all that. Sara's world is upside down and she likes it far too much. When she lands on the front page of the tabloids again, it is déjà vu. Will the press ever stop hounding her?

My Review:

I found there was a lot to love about this story. Sara has escaped her crazy LA life to spend a vacation with her cousin in Summer Beach, a small town in Australia. Not long after arriving, she encounters a lost beagle on the beach that is injured. She rushes it to the vet, where she meets the handsome Craig. Their attraction is instant. Craig is delicious. What I loved most about these characters was how easy it was to relate to their story. Sara has some body-image issues, but she i

Playing for Love is just a super simple, cheesy romance. A good light summer read, but nothing too amazing.

Sara takes a vacation to Australia to visit a friend and escape from the tabloid mess she is in in the states. She is not really famous, but famous by association and she just cannot stand the negative attention she is getting anymore. She just needs an escape for a little bit to regroup and not have to think about things for a bit.

When Sa

Could there possibly be any more cliches in this book?

So very often this felt like a game of 'how many uses of Australian slang can I cram into one sentence?' by the author. There was even a glossary because there were so many!

It felt almost inescapable in reading this to not make links to certain things. For instance Summer Beach. All I could think was Summer Bay and Home and Away. As for Dr Chris Murray, his celebrity vet status reminded me rather markedly of Dr Chris and his Bondi Vet fame. I

Finding Love Down Under With The Help Of A Beagle

This story is part of a series but each book reads as a standalone novel. Sara needs an escape and leaves LA and goes to her cousin's in a seaside town in Australia for two weeks. The only hard part was having to leave her sweet beagle, Coco, back in the states with a friend. This story is Sara healing from a bad break up with a movie star boyfriend who used her to move his career in the tabloids and taking time to recoup. Meeting a veterinarian,

This is a very sweet and light read, there is no real drama or any over the top conflict that will make the story over convoluted.

Sara Monroe has fled to the land Down Under, Australia after a disastrous ending to her relationship with a douchebag/jackass celebrity (I'd use a lot more words to describe him and so will you after you read the book). To get away she goes to stay with her cousin Ellie (we'll get her story in the next book) in Summer Beach.

Playing for Love (Summer Beach Vets 1) is a fun, flirty book. There is no world to be saved or great mystery to be solved, I like those kinds of stories too, but sometimes I just want a traditional romance. This one is a delight. It is a sweet, well-written romance.

Australia is on my bucket list to visit but thanks to the H Y Hanna, I went on a mini trip there with Sara. The descriptions are so well done; I felt the breeze on my face and thought about getting some sunscreen too. Loved the lingo,

Sara Monroe has found herself in the headlights of the L.A . Paparazzi. After her breakup with Jeff, a handsome star of a hit TV series the Paparazzi have not been kind to her. Sara decides she needs a break from the celebrity gossip magazines and heads off to Australia. I am giving this book 5 stars. Here s my reason why. First it is a Stand Alone while still being part of a series. This means you can read it and follow through or hang on to the rest of the series when you wnat that pleasant relaxing read. And for the rest of story and more reason why 5 stars are appropriate. H. Y. Hanna has writeen a truly refreshing novel. Her main character, Sara, is suffering from being used by an ex boyfriend. To ease her pained heart she travels to Austrailia to visit for ...more

Sweet and cute. I loved the beagle matchmaker who brought Sara and Craig together.

Sara Monroe is fresh from a broken relationship and taking a vacation to escape the paparazzi in Los Angeles. She goes to a remote area in Australia and meets a wounded beagle on the beach. Of course she brings him to the veterinarian clinic and meets the hunky vet Craig Murray.

The story is kind of predictable, and it's a light-hearted beach or poolside read. In my case, it's a Stairmaster read. I enjoy stories wit

It's the first book in the Summer Beach Vets series and I really enjoyed it. It was a fun adventure with in Australia with Sara and Craig.

Sara wanted to escape from all what happened and decided to visit her cousin in Australia. She goes to a Summer Beach, which is a very idyllic and beautiful place. Totally enjoyed this story. If you are a dog lover, you'll definitely enjoy this series and even if you are not, the descriptions of Australia and the Aussie slang and culture will definitely pull you into the story.

Dr Craig Murray definitely reminded me of Dr Chris Brown in the Aussie TV series: Bondi Vet. I love Dr Chris Brown and have often wondered what sort of personal life he had and what a great boyfriend or husband he'd make. Whilst reading Playing for Love, I could just picture Dr Chris

Sara Monroe was escaping her life in L A and going to visit her cousin, Elle in Australia. She had been made a fool of by her ex boyfriend. He was an actor trying to get noticed and he did. Then she found out he was using her to get noticed. In Australia she met Dr. Craig Murray, a vet, when she found a beagle injured on the beach. Summer beach was a quite town and Sara loved it there. I really enjoyed this book. It's a sweet, light, fun read with great chemistry. I loved Sara and Craig, they're so sweet! Although, this is Book #1 in the Summer Beach Vets series, it is the 2nd book from the series that I've read. I enjoyed this one as much, if not more than Playing Santa. It is twice as long, so you get more story. It is an easy read and takes place in Australia. Heart warming tale and great summer or any time read. Author has a way of delivering a great story with wonderful well developed loveable characters . This story is set in an exotic location and just has the right amount of romance . Once you start reading you'll have a hard time putting it down.

After being hooked on the story and characters, I've now read the entire series. It's so refreshing to read a story without foul language and promiscuous characters. Not that I'm a prude, the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is a favorite, but it's a nice change. Well defined characters, if a bit predictable in emotions and a beautiful Australian setting. The Aussie slang does not distract, in fact, it slows my reading pace down a bit!! A slang dictionary is included as a bonus. Recommended.

A sweet romance set in a small beach town.

After a very public breakup, Sara takes a much needed vacation lot visit her cousin in Australia, where an unexpected run-in with an injured Beagle on the beach causes Sara to seek help from the local vet, Dr. Craig Murray, who also happens to be a reality TV star.
This was a fun story, with a most helpful Aussie slang glossary included. Great read.
