I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Reghan is an investigative reporter who because of some daddy issues and getting burned by a man she was dating turning out to be married, likes to bust people on live t.v. for any hidden sordid past deeds. Dev is a police detective with a street kid past who ended up making good with the help of a fatherly cop mentor. When the two meet up there is instant chemi

Reghan loves her job as a reporter and has even succeeded at getting her own prime time show where she delivers the truth and nothing but. When she revealed the Detective Dev was not the hero everyone proclaimed him to be she was doing everyone a favor. Hero's do not exist and she proved that when she brought to light Devs secret past. Now months later and a murderer is running around town taking the lives of young teenage boys. These boys only have one thing in common. Dev! Reghan has to confro ...more

This is the first book I've read that's by Mallory Kane so I started reading it with no huge expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised.

No Hero is a pretty standard mystery-romance novel. There's a serial killer on the loose that forces Reaghan Conner, a journalist with WACT and Detective Gautier, a cop - two people who pretty much hate each other's guts - work together. The reason for their hostility is because they have a past :

'From her point of view, she’d done a news story, telling

REVIEW: NO HERO by Mallory Kane
Non-stop action, surprises, and sensual tension fuel this intriguing romantic suspense mystery, set in lovely but often worn-out New Orleans. Some vicious killer has targeted at-risk teens. Many stay at a hostel program at which Detective Gautier mentors. Some consider him a hero, but not his former girlfriend, who provided an expose on his exploits, and now must reunite with the man she scorns before many more troubled adolescents are murdered.

A Series Debut Worth Attention

In The Big Easy, a couple of dead bodies garner more flies than interest, especially considering the victims are high risk runaways. Except these victims have a connection that TV news journalist Reghan Connor suspects is more than just a coincidence. One man, NOPD Detective Devereux Gautier, knew both victims, had helped both of them at the teen center he'd created during an eight month suspension he'd recently served. A suspension that Connor's unr

Reghan Connor knows that there are no heroes. Her father left her when she was little and the man she thought she would share her live with confessed that he wasn’t leaving the wife Reghan knew nothing about.

There are no heroes, she wanted to tell her friend. Heroes and knights in shining armor were for kids’ fairy tales. In real life, people never lived up to expectations. That’s why they called it real life.

Five months after she uncovered the t

OOOH, I love this author! I really enjoy the romantic suspense genre and I adore this author. I've never ready anything by her, but I know that she'll be a staple from this point on. Okay, okay, okay ... where to start ... from the very beginning of the novel, you are just thrown into this story that is already in progress. Now, not every author who does this can pull it off. But Mallory Kane does. This isn't part of a series or anything, you're

I love stories that are set in New Orleans. The atmosphere of that one of a kind city provides just the right touch of magic and mystery no matter the genre. Mallory Kane does a wonderful job with this suspense tale full of twists and turns as Detective Dev Gautier is on the hunt for the murderer of homeless teens who he knows and mentors personally. Reghan is a reporter on the scent of a story and she has more than butted heads with Dev before. At first, you won't like Reghan very much. She is

Ms. Kane wastes no time getting into the story: A kid, who was apparently meeting someone, is murdered on an abandoned wharf in New Orleans. His throat slit, he staggers backward and falls into the Mississippi.

It's 4:30am and Reghan Connor is on the phone with a source. Another boy found with his throat slit? Another kid from the Thibaud Johnson Center for Homeless Teens murdered?

Shocked awake by the news, her first thought? "She knew who the killer was. " Followed closely by the fear that she c

RATING : 4.75 UBER SMEXI DEV STARS!

Reghan Connor, reporter, and a thorn in Detective Gautier Devereux’s side. What Reghan did to Dev, was devastating, and humiliating. Did she have any of her I’s dotted, her T’s crossed, before she slung the mud?

With her own tv programme titled, ‘The Real Story’, well, she didn’t have it on Dev. She does redeem herself in my eyes and Dev’s as the story unfolds, but still, tough blow, low blow.

From the first page until the last No Hero provided me with the taut suspense that I love in a romantic suspense book. The emphasis in this book is on the suspense, but don't let that fool you, there is definitely heat between Reghan and Dev and you feel it page after page. But what I felt most was the driving need to find out who the bad guy was and how the book would turn out. That is what kept me turning the pages.

Dev and Reghan are great characters. Dev had a flawed childhood and he's trying

The Dead Sexy Imprint by Entangled is an assortment of books from the great Authors of Entangled that are packed with mystery, romance and suspense and mind blowing writing. I had the pleasure of reading No Hero by Mallory Kane and I have never read a book like this. It had so many things going on that I could not put it down. I kept reading early into the morning because I had to find out what happened to boys.

I received this book as an e-ARC free from Netgalley. Below is my review.

I am a long-time fan of Kane's books. So, it's pretty hard to say that while I liked this one, there were elements of it that really, really didn't sit well with me.

Dev Gautier and Reghan Connor have been at loggerheads ever since Reghan, an investigative journalist with a penchant for "gotcha journalism" reveals Dev's painful past by blindsiding him on her show. It nearly cost Dev his job on the police force, his future,

Also, I know I usually am all about everything fantasy, but being a Louisiana native, and a frequent NOLA visitor- yes we call New Orleans NOLA- I couldn’t help myself. Now this was one hell of a good book. The synopsis implies that investigative reporter Reghan Connor and Detective Dev Gautier had a past love affair, the furthest it got before Reghan damn near wrecked his career and ruined his life, was a date and one hot ass kiss. Which made it better for me, I really didn't want the heroine to be some dirty skank that slept with him in then really screwed him. They are thrown together when Reghan has some info and insight as to why and what is going on with ...more

This is the first book that I have read by Mallory Kane and I can say with absolute certainty that it won't be my last.

I really liked how easy the story flowed. The character building was down so nicely. We didn't get a ton of information spilled onto us all at once, instead is flowed when necessary throughout the story and I really enjoyed that. Sometimes authors make a habit of dumping all the characters info on you at once and information can be lost and it can make the story lag a little. Th

This was a pretty good book. I wasn't expecting much since I'd never heard of this author but I'm pleasantly surprised and I will be reading more from this one. This story has all of the things you look for when reading a romantic suspense, action, danger, and little bit of sexual tension and a whole lot of sexual attraction! The story line was well thought out and very well written, quite enjoyable actually.

No Hero by Mallory Kane a reissue of the book, I’m not sure that is said in the synopsis for the book. However, that does not take way from the enjoyment if like me you had not read it before. It is an intriguing romantic suspense where the love interest have a past involving a new report. I could easily identify with Detective Dev Gautier who was suspended from the New Orleans police dept. for three months. While he believes he is no hero, he most certainly is. Reaghan Conner is the report jour ...more

This story took a hold of me from the page one, and kept it till 'the end', it is addictive and well written. Mallory Kane is a new author for me, and this will not be the last book I read by her!
The connection between Dev and Reghan is complex, the attraction and pull towards each other is tinted with distrust and leeriness from the past actions and experiences.

Kane definitely had me guessing with this one. She has mystery and suspense down pat, leading you on a wild goose chase that you won’t be able to forget. Not only is this novel suspenseful, but romance against the odds comes to the forefront in an unforgettable manner. I was rooting for these characters to overcome their obstacles. Kane also sets her story amongst the lives of those many of us endeavour to ignore in our everyday dealings. She brings to the forefront many aspects of society and m ...more

I enjoyed No Hero. The story is fast paced and there is a lot of action and suspense. Although I wasn't a big fan of Reghan she was a strong, female character. I didn't like that it was obvious that she let her personal bias effect her reporting when it came to Dev and didn't have all the facts. She also seemed to gloat about shocking him on air and I didn't find that attractive. But she was also to put that aside when she had critical information for our hero. She showed a lot of growth in the ...more

A totally addictive book. Very hard to put down.

Someone is killing the boys of the Thibaud Johnson Center for Homeless Teens in New Orleans. How many will loose their lives to this crazed murderer?

Reghan Conner is a reporter with her own tv show, The Real Story. She gets wind of the first murder and is on the scene trying to get more information. Was she just imagining it, or did convicted murderer Gerard Fontenot tell her back in February that these teenagers were going to die? But, how does

I really liked the premise of this story. We have a cop (hero) and journalist (heroine) who share a past and it isn't exactly pretty. First you have the whole cop/journalist dynamic which from everything I've read or seen on TV, these two things don't mix well. Then you add the added turmoil of said journalist breaking said cop's trust in the past .... that's unique and makes for an interesting story, if told well. And it w
