Due to my prior foray into the world of spin-off light novels not being a very enjoyable one, I was extremely wary going into this. Luckily, I didn’t have to be! This book was absolutely fantastic.

I think what didn't work for me with Kuroko no Basuke -Replace- (the previous light novel I’ve read) was that it seemed a bit pointless. It might as well have been a collection of five fanfictions, because they didn't really actually add anything to the existing story, provide new insight, or anything

The first of a series of companion light novels for the Tokyo Ghoul manga! This volume has six short stories about some of the other main characters in this series, as well as a few new minor ones, giving us a glimpse of what happens in between the main storyline. My favorite thing about this book was finally getting inside the heads of some of my favorite characters including Touka and Hide! This was definitely enjoyable and I honestly can't wait to read the next one!

This is my very first ever light novel! It is divided into 6 individual short stories which take place either in Ken's first months of being a ghoul or in the past, pre-Ken. There are a variety of stories, comedy, horror, character studies and friendship stories. There are two "themes" which give the stories a small but interconnecting string between them all. The main one being that each story has a scene taking place in the Ghoul Cafe "Anteiku", sometimes it's just one scene, or a few and one ...more

how didn't i know that the Tokyo Ghoul novels existed till last week!!? i'm a fake fan OTL
imma just gonna leave this here. these are actual words Kaneki said about Hide and it made me want immediate death.

“But up until now, we’ve been together… maybe this sounds a little dramatic, but to me, his existence is something I depend on as much as my heart… If something like that were to disappear, I wouldn’t have anywhere to belong.“

This was okay.
As a huge fan of Tokyo Ghoul manga, I was happy to see the characters again and learn more about them. However, as a piece of literature, Tokyo Ghoul:Days is rather mediocre, the writing is bland and simplistic, some comments has rubbed me the wrong way.

#1 The Bible.
Centered around Hide and it's my favorite novella in the bindup. Hide is a good guy and amazing friend.
#2 Lunch Boxes.
About Touka and her human friend Yoriko. Rather moving story.

About Tsukiyama and him meetin

I've been noticing the Tokyo Ghoul manga for a while in libraries' shelves because the covers are gorgeous, but it's only after my sister got interested in it and started buying them that I got to read it (first season a couple of months ago, still waiting to read the second season).

I can't really attest to where this stands on its own as I'm reading these light novels after reading the manga, so really, I'm reading these as part of the Tokyo Ghoul universe. The characters we meet in the stories

6 out of 5!

This was so beautiful and perfect. Getting new angles on scenes we've already seen was a stroke of genius and I am in awe of the seamless stitching together of six totally separate events into a single narrative. I need ten more books exactly like this, okay?

This particular Tokyo Ghoul light novel has six stories from both familiar and new characters, with artwork by Sui Ishida.

I'm going to rate each story individually to make it easier and hopefully faster.

The first story revolves around Hide, Kaneki's best friend. It touches a bit on the early days, when Kaneki first became an artificial ghoul. Hide has started to figure out Kaneki's secret at the time the story takes place. A group of

"Fiction books give the reader a chance to step away from their own reality and into the shoes of the characters, and they show you a world that isn't the one you already know. And sometimes the story's not so different from your own, and it lets you get closer to your own feelings."

As a hardcore Tokyo Ghoul fan, I enjoyed this light novel. The characterizations were not as I was used to or had imagined while I was reading the manga but when I considered the book as a whole universe on its own,

This light novel is an anthology of short stories set in the Tokyo Ghoul universe and fills in somewhere in the original manga series, and around the time after Touka kills Mado. Four of the stories are told from a perspective other than Kaneki, which is refreshing (no offense to him). Stories are told from Hide's, Touka's, Shuu's, Ikuma's POV and they all tie in to roughly the same time, but with very different stories.

In Hide's story, we get his growing curiosity with the possibility of ghouls

Going to post this in the beginning but it seems that ViZ cut out some of the character art that was in the book. Found some on the TG wiki.
The author here can't write women to save his life. All of them are somehow evil or simpering.
These stories would have been better if all of them didn't involve some kind of violence on some part. They all could have been slice of life, but no we have to throw in random violence to spice the story up. The last story is just written so bad that some parts d

It's so nice to have the world fleshed out a little bit more with these stories. I enjoy that type of thing, so I will be sure to read the next one, too. The writing and stories aren't necessarily fantastic, enthralling, nor incredibly well written, but I think they are worth a read if you are a fan of the manga series. I just slowly read it one story at a time, but it is a quick read overall!

An amazing collection of short stories from the Tokyo Ghoul universe. I’ve got myself so invested in this universe at the moment and I’m just really enjoying it. These stories are great little vignettes that add to the complexity of the characters that we know and love, and also introduce some fringe characters that you also grow to care for.
Very excited to read the rest of this series.

I loved the Tokyo Ghoul anime series, but I have trouble reading Manga as I just can't seem to quite make the images and words come together. I prefer just words, and I can make the images in my own head.
So, I found this book of short stories set in the Tokyo Ghoul universe to be really fun to read, the stories were nicely paced.

Typoriffic?!

This is my favorite of the three novels. Hide fights off a ghoul, Hinami makes a human friend, and a new ghoul in Tokyo reveals another way that humans and ghouls have lived together peacefully.

Unfortunately, this edition is riddled with typos! "Yoshimoto"? "Kankei"? It was jarring to see such basic errors in a series I have so much respect for.

Six short stories set in the Tokyo Ghoul universe and each were fantastic! I think my favorite one was the first one, Hide's story. I liked how each story sort of intertwined with his at some point, and the idea of "suspicious characters" was threaded throughout each story. This was a fun read, and I'm looking forward to reading the next light novel!

It's recommended to have read at least up to volume 5 of the manga before reading this so that you can understand when all the events are taking place. This novel is an collection of stories from a different point of view than what is shown in the manga or scenes that are part of the character's daily lives. It's really good an is recommended for all fans of the manga.

A totally pointless addition to the Tokyo Ghoul universe. It's just filler that reads like a movie novelization, and it's not even fun or insightful, which could go a long way in justifying its existence. I'm taking a pass on the other novelizations in the series.

I like the simple writing used by the author. Also, everything seems related to our main character Kaneki. Apart from that, I am satisfied that the element of surprise which is significant to Tokyo Ghoul is also present in this novel. Kudos!

Fans of Tokyo Ghoul will love the added detail to the characters in the stories. The stories explored the Human/Ghoul relationships with the focus on the Ghouls and their friends.

I would recommend this for any fan of Tokyo Ghoul.

Glad to read about some of the characters again, and the stories being linked was nice, but to me the writing was so simple/childish that I found myself wincing at times.

the manga was totally better than the anime, as the details were blatantly better. also, the anime didn't show as much, honestly i should've read the manga before i watched the actual anime.
