Another book written by an MD--I am truly beginning to wonder whether there will be any doctors left--they all seem to be writing fiction and are extremely good at it! Maybe because they are writing Medical Mysteries and they know about it first hand? If you enjoy medical mysteries that twist and turn-you will enjoy this one. This is actually the 2nd book I've read by this author. Death by Autopsy: A Toni Day Mystery

You know that old saying--"No good deed goes unpunished"? Well that certainly ho

I know some people might not agree with me but I really liked this book. I love tell technical it was. Down to the medical terminology for an autopsy of a person. Tony day is me and a nutshell. I over analyze I worry and I'm a perfectionist. I love that she's curious by nature and not afraid to look into her thoughts. I think I would have jumped out of my wits though if somebody was still live in that situation. I will be looking for more books from this author, I think she did a great job. I re ...more

Written by a pathologist in Twin Falls, Idaho of all places, I think she must have resorted to writing to save herself from boredom. Not that such is a bad alternative. The book is clever, the plot is OK, not mesmerizing. My only quibble is that there are too many undefined medical terms. I read it on Kindle, so its possible there is a glossary attached to the print version, but why not define the words in a parenthetical so we aren't stumbling around searching Wikipedia to find out what she mea ...more

Precision Strikes – A review of the novel ‘Death by Autopsy’

“By medicine life may be prolonged, yet death will seize the doctor too” - William Shakespeare

Author Jane Bennett Munro’s latest novel ‘Death by Autopsy: A Toni Day mystery’ is the fourth book in the Toni Day series of mystery books. As the self serving title suggests, it tells the tale of Toni Day, a pathologist by profession who takes it upon herself to solve a couple of mysterious deaths when she is accused of causing death to a pati

Death By Autopsy is a thriller novel about Toni Day, a doctor in her city. The novel starts out full of action as Toni witnesses a car go off-road into a canal. Toni attempts to save the driver by jumping into the frigid water. The victim, Beulah Pritchard, is identified as the driver and was seen as dead. This was until Toni was about to complete her autopsy on Beulah. She is still alive, but only for 2 more days. After she is finally pronounced deceased, a court order shows up and Toni and the ...more

Death by Autopsy is the fourth Toni Day Mystery written by Jane Bennett Munro, MD. The award-winning author writes what she knows, having spent thirty-seven years as a hospital-based pathologist.

The novel was fast-paced and fun to read. The main and secondary characters, specifically Toni’s husband, mother, in-laws, and close co-workers fit right in and were a strong part of the story.

The one possible negative was how technical Death by Autopsy was throughout the book. The story might educate

I received this book for a fair review.

Overview: Toni Day is surprised to see her biggest nuisance’s car drive into the canal. But a bigger surprise is yet to come. Beulah…ah…moves on the autopsy table. Cancel the autopsy; really just postpone it. Who tried to kill Beulah? And who was successful?

Likes: I liked the fast paced reading. Toni’s attitude was pretty good until it came to guns. And Nigel was great.

Dislikes: Besides Brenda and Carole, I didn’t care for how extensive the medical terminol

This was my first book by this author and can I just say it will not be my last. I loved this book to bits; I just couldn’t put it down and just had to read it all in one sitting. There was a lot of technical jargon but I really enjoyed reading about it all. The book just took you on for a one hell of a criminal thriller ride that you won’t soon forget. It was very fast paced paged turner that would have you hooked with the first words.
