This was a quick and easy read that left me feeling the way that I want to feel at the end of a book. I had no real questions about what happens next, there were no holes left open, everything was neatly and believably tied up at the end. In an era of cliffhangers (which I hate with a passion) I appreciate a well written and complete story when I get one. I don't see this as being the start of a series, just an enjoyable one of stand alone book.

I have recently begun reading biker/Motorcycle Club books and the worlds created are often gritty, rough, violent, and descriptive. Mynx definitely puts her own spin on the MC world by giving us a look into a black club that is on the verge of imploding. At the center of their downfall is a young woman seeking revenge and justice for her murdered brother. KaeCee is a club princess who goes against everything that she was raised to believe in, to live and die for, all to see the man responsible for her suffering and the death of her brother pay for his crimes.

Brought in by the Spyders to find KaeCee, Brick can't seem to bring himself to shake his unusual but intense attraction to the young woman on the run from one of the most powerful MC's in the country. After finding her, Brick has to make a choice between going with his gut or honoring his contract and turning KaeCee over to the club who has paid him well for his services. Brick is a bit different from most of the heroes we get in romance. Brick doesn't trust his ability to make confident and well thought out decisions. As the story develops it is revealed why he has the problems that he does. However, I don't believe that a man can be a trusted enforcer for the Russian mob, survive that service, and run his own business and be overly unintelligent. Maybe not a genius, but definitely not stupid. You simply don't survive the life that Brick has led being dumb.

Oh, if only Jason Momoa could act well because I could so see this as a movie! Maybe Ryan Hurst who played Opie on Sons of Anarchy could play Brick. Oh well, a girl can dream! In typical Mynx style, you get an interesting story with just the right amount of steaminess in Someone To Watch Over Me. All in all another good addition to my ever growing Sienna Mynx collection.

KaeCee is biker princess on the run from her family, the Black Spyders MC. Brick is the PI on her trail. Somehow during his on the job stalking, found himself caught in her web. Now he is using all his resources to save them both from the wrath of the club.

The Good:
1. Finally got to see the biker lifestyle from a Black perspective. This is the first book I've read featuring a Black MC.

2. Bonus points for being a standalone.

3. Though a shorter book by this author was happy the storytelling didn't feel rushed.

The Bad:
1. Brick being described as all brawn, no brains removed him from my book boyfriend list.

2. I went back and forth on liking KaeCee's uneven personality. Sometimes she was scared little girl, and next page overly sexually aggresive to a guy she didn't even seem to be into at first. I didn't get it.

3. The Russian mafia element was a little anemic.

Final Thoughts:
Being the card carrying Sienna Mynx and biker romance fangirl I am, surprised this didn't have me over the moon. Though not perfect, still was a good read.

When dealing with books of this nature the author usually forewarns readers in my review I will as well. This book deals with mature themes such as rape, and violence. I say this not to detour anyone from reading the book but just a warning.
Someone To Watch Over Me opens with a steamy sex scene introducing the hero Brick and heroine KaeCee to the readers. And what an introduction it is! Brick a private investigator hired to locate one KaeCee “Princess” former member of the Motorcyle Club the Black Spyders finds himself in a world wind of trouble watching over her. This job isn’t as easy as Brick once thought KaeCee’s father is the head of the black motorcycle gang (club) and on the run from her father’s associates one in particular Gloque.

One of the things I noticed about this story is that it differs from other stories in the fact that Brick is described as not being handsome. He is described as being someone that not only people fear because of his stature but it was mentioned that he is somewhat of a Frankenstein replica. It is rare you get a hero that isn’t described as an Adonis. Brick had a very self-deprecating view about himself. He sees himself as not as smart rare for a male lead. I like the complexity of his inner battles of feeling not good enough but on the outside a fighter ironically solid as a brick. KaeCee although she is very sassy and knows how to play the game is battling her own demons. She may be into nice clothes and a love for the color red but it is more to her then meets the eye. Both come from less than ideal backgrounds dealing with physical and mental abuse. The subject matter in this story is heavy at times. Like I mentioned above Someone To Watch Over Me deals with issues such as rape. And it is one of the major themes of the story in my opinion. This book is an emotional roller coaster granted this is a story about two people trying to right a wrong the wrongs done are very serious in nature and not for the faint at heart. If you are a person that just wants a sweet romance this is not for you.
This book is a little more “thug” that Sienna’s usually mafia books that present a more decadent lifestyle. By that I mean the language used has much more slang and both characters are a little more gritty then what we usually see from Sienna. One thing that is a constant with this author is her sex scenes are off the chart. The dream sequences in this book are FIYAH!!!!! I would describe this book as much more drama sprinkled with some romance. For me the romance aspect was overshadowed by the situation both of the characters are in. Without giving anything away both character’s run into some serious trouble and tough situations with the MC gang and Brick’s connections with his old life. But Brick and KaeCee fight for redemption and a chance at love neither of them expected to find.

The flashback scenes dealing with KaeCee and Brick’s past as younger kids was a lot to swallow. But does offer some sort or explanation as to why both characters are the way they are. One of the things that annoyed me about Brick was that he never really stood up for himself not in the physical sense when it came to the physical he was a force of nature but when it came to people calling him dumb he just took it. It was a turn off that he was believed and further perpetuated to be not as smart. I know do to his upbringing he suffered not only physical but mental trauma but I would have like to see him overcome those issues. This book was slow in some parts the information given was heavy and at times it seemed like overload. I did like that both characters were complex and that their relationship wasn’t nice and neat and was very messy at best. Drama followed them even towards the end. I wanted a bit more closure with the ending it seemed to be tied up to nicely and left me with a lot of unanswered questions. For instance: did KaeCee ever get help for her ptsd? All in all I think this was a good read very different and a little dark. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a quick read but a very thoroughly told story. Please judge this book for yourself and not based on this one review.

Sienna Mynx is one of my favorite authors , I enjoyed this book , The opening had we drooling it was so hot and Brick was the perfect man for Scarlet. He showed her she needed him and could trust him when she had no one. The passion and chemistry between them was a ten , as hot as hot could be. The story was exciting but, sometimes Scarlet came across as really naive ,like she wasn't running from a dangerous motorcycle gang for years who wanted to kill her , there was no way she wouldn't know what to expect. I did enjoy this book and I can not wait to read the next book form this author.

Remember that 1987 movie by the same name starring Tom Beringer and Mimi Rodgers? Well forget that, cause this book is so much better! I am not a big fan of MC stories, but this one was such a pleasant surprise. I really, really liked it! This is one of Ms. Mynx’s best stories since her Battaglia Mafia series.

So our story starts out with a literal bang: Our hero Brick is having one of his many sexual fantasies about the woman he was hired to locate, but little does he know that he just may have signed her death warrant. KaeCee is on the run, and has been on the run from the notorious Spyder MC club since she put her father and leader of the Spyders in jail. I was captivated from the very beginning, and my heart literally raced the entire time reading this story! In between the steamy loving were so many twists and turns and daring escapes and awesome fights that there is something for everyone. You’ve got romance, mystery, murder, and adventure all wrapped up into one very entertaining read.

There are trigger-warnings that I must caution you to, specifically, rape. If this is a sensitive issue, then this may not be the story for you because these themes play prominently throughout the story. In spite of that, I still highly recommend this book. Brick Lipinski has become an unconventional, yet completely loveable book boo.

Sienna Mynx is one of my favourite authors and I have read many of her books which have all been great reads.

This is KaeCee (aka Princess) and Brick's story. KaeCee is on the run from the Black Spyder MC and Brick has been hired to find her.

What I really loved about this story is that Brick is not your typical hero. He is very large, appears awkward, clumsy and is not the sharpest nail in the box. Women are not attracted to him. However he fall in love with KaeCee and will laid down his own life to keep her safe.

One of the best momenst in the story that had me laughing out loud was when Brick is trying to rescue KaeCee but she does not know who he is and she struggles against the hold he has on her and she bits him. He in turns pushes her away from him and she hits her head on the wall and knocks her out. That had me in stitches because he does not mean to hurt her but has a reflex action to what she is doing to him. That is the kind of guy our hero is. However, he knows how to protect his princess.

KaeCee: "You're my hero Brick. You have been since the day you rescued me in that alley, in the rain"

Brick: "I want you to be happy Princess. Tell me. Say you can be?"

Great read would highly recommend this story.

This was an excellent read! Kept me entertained from beginning to end. Action, sex, drama, and murder...what more could I have asked for. Brick was brutal and at times scary, but strangely lovable, KaeCee was tough but tortured. The sex between these two was as off the charts as the wrath of their enemies.

Warning: This novel deals with mature, sensitive subject matters like, rape and extreme violence.

♥♥♥

What can I say about this novel that my reaction above doesn’t capture? Well, the story was great because instead of two innocents, or one innocent and another a outlaw, we find ourselves in the minds of two criminals aspiring to be more. They go through rough patches where they kill, fight, and barter for their lives, although they’re both reformed. There’s actually a lot of action in this novel, with fight scenes and gun scenes which gave this novel a bit of thrill to it, but the main attraction and highlights of this novel existed in the characters.

Each character was thought out to make an impact. Brick is this amazing guy. He’s not the typical hero because he’s not the most handsome man, he lacks charming words, he’s not the smartest guy, and he’s not a good guy; but he’s the only guy for our heroine. Brick didn’t woo KaeCee with words or promises, but with his actions and willingness to protect her at all cost. He’s the ultimate protector – this actually explains his position in the Russian Mafia – which our heroine needed since her brother’s death, Someone to Watch Over Her. Without him there she suffered the agony of knowing who was responsible and having no one to care, until Brick.

KaeCee was the character I had to warm-up to. I didn’t like her at first because she just seemed cocky and bitchy, but once you realize everything she’s been through and really get to the root of her character you’ll love her. She’s you every time you build walls around yourself or exude a false sense of security and esteem to people because the real you is so painful and broken it hurts to let someone else witness it. Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of times KaeCee didn’t seem to understand that her life was in danger although she kept reminding Brick. She was her strongest and her weakest when she’s with Brick, which is the exact balance that she needed.

We don’t get much Russian mafia action, although it is grazed upon, similar to the Black Sypder MC. Neither one is really important in the novel besides the necessary actions both sides took. We also don’t get a quality bad guy. He’s mediocre at best, but he provided enough of a threat to bring the couple together. And It might not be apparent but this is a revenge plot for KaeCee because the MC just did one too many horrendous things in her life. When you read it you’ll understand…so read it!

KaeCee Everett is a woman out of options, she turned states evidence against the Black Spiders Motorcycle Club, which is ran by her father.Testifying against the club put her father in prison for life and the man who killed her brother, Gloque got away. Now she is running from the MC. She heads to California to the one person who can help her put away Gloque. She has no idea she is being followed or that her signature color, red has lead her right to the P.I. The MC hired to find her.Enter Flint"Brick Lipinski,a former inmate and enforcer for the Russian Mob turned P.I., his current assignment is to find KaeCee"Princess" Everett. When he finds her, Brick doesn't turn her over right away,he finds himself more that attracted to the beautiful woman in red. When his Employer shows up requesting progress on finding his Princess he finds it hard to turn her over to him. Brick warns KaeCee, now called Scarlett that a man named Richard "Gloque" Grierson is looking for her. When KaeCee hears that name she know its time to run,but Brick does not let her run alone. The pair head of on a wild adventure that has them running for their lives and falling in love.
This was a great story for me.I Loved it. This book was intriguing for a few reason,Brick and KaeCee where both very flawed individuals and I think that is what made this story for me. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes. I love how Brick confessed to KaeCee about his time in prison and what each of his tattoos represented and how KaeCee spoke of her love for her brother and how the club was all she knew. I could just feel their emotions and see how they connected and clung to one another.Great work Ms.Mynx, keep 'em coming.

GREAT STORY OF LOVE ON THE RUN!!

I wouldn't change a thing about this wonderful book. A story of how love can find it's way into our hearts under the most trying circumstances. The hero and heroine had a lot more in common than their love for each other. Loyalty is very important to me and the two were loyal to each other no matter what came there way. I love how despite the trauma suffered in their early lives, they had a desire to have a better life by trying to make things right. How they did it may have been questionable, but they lived under a different code then most. To me this was a story of love passion and healing. Lots of mayhem throughout with tons of action and even suspense made the story fast paced and gripping at times. Reflecting back on the story I am not surprised by the great writing but as always I am impressed by how the writer continues to grow with each new story written. 5 STARS ALL DAY! Sienna Mynx continues to write books that move me and keep me thinking long after the book is done! This is called a "book hangover" and this is how you know you've read a very good one. Great Job Sienna Mynx!!

So...

I've read this author's books and have enjoyed them but this obsession with black women a perpetual victims is so boring & tired. The trope needs to be hung in the rafters. Retire it. KaeCee grew up surrounded by violence but can't handle a gun or shook up by dead bodies, like be serious. The need to give these women really rough upbringings just so they need rescuing well into adult hood is unbelievably corny & dated. Having her resort to a pathetic attempt at seducing Brick was cringe. This was disappointing to me because there's no new ground to cover in these damsel in distress romances. It's all been done before. There's nothing charming about a neurotic emotionally unstable heroine who needs a man to save her from herself. Romance writers have to evolve with the times. Romanticizing trauma & dysfunction just doesn't hit the way it used to. Allow these women to be interesting, capable & resourceful. Their victimization can't be their whole personality.

Let me start by saying nobody loves them some Mob Mynx more than me. Having said that, this one was disappointing.

I didnt feel connected to either lead. The heroine came off as a lil bit unlikeable even for having gone through some horrendous crap. I also didnt believe the black MC world this one dipped into. It just wasnt fully realized for me amd maybe had the book started with KayCee ztill living amongst thdm it would have felt more genuine, I dunno.

The one thing I DID like is that Mynx stepped out of her usual hero box and wrote a guy who is admittedly a little bit slow lol. Dude's name is Brick and he comes by it honestly. Built like one and thick (in the head) as one.

2 stars because it literally was just ok for me.

Superb!

OMG....I LOVED THIS BOOK! It was gritty and urban and super sexy...a Siena Mynx masterpiece!

The characters are atypical....the heroine never finished high school and the hero has cognitive disabilities due to the abuse he received as a child.....beautifully flawed. Brick and KaeCee need each other...they get each other. Neither have had an easy life but they both had one person in their lives they could count on to unconditionally love them...now they have each other.

I was pleased that the adversary was caught but I would have loved to know if KaeCee's dad ever got to him but that's the devilish part of my personality creeping out ;)

Homerun for Ms. Sienna Mynx!

Wow! What an amazing read! I could barely put it down. Brick was a true alpha man and such a great protector. He gave me the total feels and I instantly liked him. KaeCee and Brick's love was hot and intense. There lives full of danger. This book was beyond my expectations. KaeCee is in hiding for a few days in order to get evidence against a motorcycle club member for murder. The MC wants her back and hires Brick, a former ex-con & Bratva member to find her. The story takes a sharp turn when he decides he is not turning her over. Danger ensues and what a ride! Great read I enjoyed every minute it. Loved it!

DNF.

I was intrigued by this story after reading a review and I learned that the hero Brick was not the typical, overbearingly handsome man that's so good looking people literally stop thinking while he's around. It took a while for me to find a copy of this book since the name had been changed to Savior.

So I get my copy, start reading. Learn that Brick, after being described as looking a little like Frankenstein, he's also a bit cognitively slow. I was still...intrigued, but cautious. Kept reading and got introduced to KayCee or however her name is spelled. KayCee is the reason I decided to tap out early.

Her emotions were just all over the place. I understood her wanting to flee Brick since he essentially kidnapped her (for a good reason I guess you can argue due to the fact she was about to be kidnapped by the people she was running from). The natural response would be to find the nearest weapon to bash a head in so you can blast. I got that. But then the next second she decides to seduce Brick; when that failed, she got pissed. Then in the next breath she's viewing him as someone to protect her and she wants to bone him for real. You'd think with that many changes in attitude a few days had gone by. Nope. This all seemingly happens in the span of an hour or two.

Another nitpick, the author switched tenses at times, and the writing veered off to where it seemed a preteen had taken over before things got back on track.

The goods were there but it didn't seem as if enough thought was put into the heroine's characterization. It wasn't fleshed out well. And it's hard for me to enjoy a story if I don't like the heroine especially if I'm supposed to like her.

Maybe I'll try something else by this writer.

OMG!!!!

I read this book in one day and I read it as slow as I could... I don't recall reading any work of MS Mynx because if I had I would have already read this and every single one stories that she has..
I love me some Brick and although she had the name, Princess was really not a real princess and I loved it like that...
I recently started reading about MC and all and I love it because they are all Alpha to the supreme Alpha but sweet and specially sexy and sex goddesses.... Man I want one...
Thank you MS Mynx because now I have an imaginary scale and I am weighting everything...
This book was beyond great and if you are stressed or sad, you read this book and I guarantee you that you will feel soooo much better and happy... This is what MS Mynx have done, she will make you happy...

Good Looking Out!

As an avid fan of anything Mynx, this story keeps up her tradition of excellence. KaeCee was on the run from those who meant her great harm, Brick was charged to find her. He fell in love while watching her and after giving her up to her former motorcycle gang, charged in and saved her life. After that, with a few trust issues to be worked out along the way, it was Brick and KaeCee against the world! Excellent read!

Good read

Nice story, really started off strong good characters with nice chemistry. I did not like that the male star of this book was made to be pretty much the opposite of leading men. And, that he was infact portrayed to be "stupid and often for confused easily!" I did not like reading this in the story.
However it's worth a read that I might recommend.

Goodness

Goodness, this story was very strong and well written. Brick and KaeCee had similar history, but he felt a pull to protect and love her without really knowing her. She found a way to trust and love him, in return. This MC story was different in a good way and it was a little dark but shed some light in the midst.

Really, really Good

This is my first book by Sienna Minx. It is an older book but sooooo good. When Kaecee implicates Glogue in her brother’s murder her father takes the fall. Pretty soon she is on the run, hunted by Glogue. But who knew the man sent by Glogue to find her would end up being her Savior?

Brick & KaeCee- BRAB Online Book Club

Sienna Mynx has done it again. One of my favorite type of stories is one in which two broken souls find each other; and find that love and healing.

Flint "Brick' Lipinski had a horrible childhood of abuse and crime. KaeCee grew up amongst a rough group of people. Her father being one of the founders of a motorcycle club and crime prevalent throughout her childhood. Her quest for revenge led her to a life on the run. He reformed his life as an Investigator and was hired to find her. Their meeting and chemistry is the stuff great romance is made of

A fast paced, page turning novel that was hard to put down. Love, love, love this book.
