Rate this book
Based on a true story, Danny Dog - A rescue dog finds his forever home is the heartwarming story of an adorable little dog. Found on the street, he was taken in and cared for by a pet rescue organization. The little rescue dog endured dashed hopes and disappointment before finally experiencing the joy of finding his forever home.

This uplifting story, geared toward children (ages 4 to 8), serves to teach them two valuable lessons:

1. The importance of giving pets a second chance.
2. The vital role of pet rescue organizations in securing a forever home.

Danny's endearing story - from the street to his forever home - will be an inspiration to both children and adults, alike.

"Danny Dog is a heartwarming story that is both educational and entertaining.... Danny danced off the page and into my heart! I would love all children to read this wonderful book... It makes you smile. I give it a 10!" - Carrie Ann Inaba, Judge on "Dancing with the Stars" and Founder, Carrie Ann Inaba Animal Project.

I was fortunate to win this book from a contest I entered through Goodreads.
I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone to read.
This is a really cute story about a dog that is rescued and then finally finds his forever home. The story is simple so kids will easily understand it and the pictures are great. There is a message is this book for everyone and that is all animals should be treated with dignity and loved. All puppies are cute, but unfortunately after the cuteness wears off, some people think nothing of just dumping them and not caring how they will look after themselves. We have had several rescues animals and currently have a 15 year old cat we adopted when she was about 10 years of age. She is delightful and unique and we love her very much. I encourage anyone looking to adopt a pet to look at older animals - the love you get back from them will amaze you.
Thanks to Sid Shapira for an excellent book

Lovely children's book with bright and beautiful illustrations. "Danny Dog" is a children book about a lonely dog that is waiting to be adopted at pet shelter. The story takes you through the life of a dog trying to find his forever home. A cute dog is found but the grandmother doesn't want to keep the dog because of all the responsibility a dog takes. The grandmother makes a call and the dog is picked up by a shelter employee. A forever home looks to be in the dogs sights until he is taken home and he encounters a mean dog. Back to the shelter he goes. Eventually he finds his forever home with a loving family. The moral of this story is not in your face, and anyone can understand the meaning behind it. A wonderful story for any age.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was lucky enough to win a copy of this book for review through Goodreads First Reads.
This is a really sweet little book, with lovely illustrations and a cute short story. This would be wonderful for young children to see the joy of rescuing a dog. I think I would have liked maybe a little more detail in the beginning, about Danny being abandoned, what he would have been feeling there. But honestly that would be the only thing I'd change! It's a lovely little book and I think any kid with pets of their own or an interest in animals would love it.
Four stars.

A simple, heartfelt way to introduce children to the concept of pet rescue work and animal adoption, Danny Dog: A Rescue Dog Finds His Forever Home tells the story of a lost little fluffy black dog in a way that allows children to identify with animals without homes and what they might experience before finding one--needing food, shelter, exercise, and companionship. The dog in this book, Danny, is based on the author's real-life rescue dog, who does indeed have two cat sisters!

This is such a cute little children's book! It is very heartwarming to see a pet end up in a loving home and become part of the family. I'll be honest, I wanted to read this myself and that's why I entered the contest for it. Since I like it and think it's super cute, I am going to pass it on to my little niece. :) I'm hoping she will be as big of a book worm and animal lover as I am.

**NOTE: This is a book that I won through a goodreads giveaway**

This story is so sweet. As the proud parent of two rescue dogs and two rescue cats, this book touched my heart. The kids loved it, and carry it around everywhere. They especially love the pictures.

As someone who has adopted more than one dog from a shelter, I appreciated this story of Danny's journey to find his forever home. The charming, colorful illustrations by Izzy Bean really complement Sid Shapira's tale.
