Glass-doll beauty. A shy, proper smile. Georgette Montgomery is the perfect billionaire’s fiancé.

Or she would be, if she existed.

A dark past. A smile that hides everything. At nineteen, Rae Grove escapes her disaster life by pretending to be other people—specifically, whoever the man paying her that night wants her to be.

Until she’s offered enough money for a one-way ticket to a better life. All she has to do is fly to Paris and pretend to be the fiancé of young business tycoon Cohen Ashworth for one month. Within an hour of meeting Cohen, Rae knows three things about him:

1. He hates everyone and everything.

2. He has abundant wit and a knife-sharp tongue.

3. He uses 2 to make everyone aware of 1.

Before long, Rae’s determined to crack open his unbreakable shell. Cohen’s determined to stay unbroken.

But no one escapes unscathed when two opposite worlds collide.

I'd have to say, prior to reading this book, the title and blurb had been quite misleading, but despite that, I wasn't at all disappointed at how the story flowed throughout.

L.A. Rose has released another hilariously adorable romance and puts together two characters of equally different personalities together into an adorably romantic Paris love affair.

In need of a large amount of money to start over with her life, callgirl Rae Grove accepts a rich man's request to be the fiance of a young businessman. What she didn't expect was a jerk in the form of Cohen Ashworth. She thinks he hates her, and the feeling is somewhat mutual, but when Rae starts to tolerate his distasteful personality, he deems that she provides "How to Be Nice" lessons during her one month stay.

Free lodging in a billionaire suite, free designer clothes, a hefty amount of money as payment at the end of the month and getting to be the classy Georgette Montgomery, seems like a really pleasant deal. With Rae's happy go lucky personality, and her ability to tolerate the clashes between her and Cohen's personality, nothing else could go wrong in a single month that she can't handle, right?

Nice isn't in Cohen's vocabulary. In fact, he's nothing close to nice and is incredibly rude when pissed off, especially when a girl suddenly pops out of nowhere claiming she was hired by his father to be his fiance for a month, for the sake of an image makeover. He comes off as a total jerk with a dislike for people (like any other introvert), although in only certain scenarios, but his outbursts are quite uncalled for. It's a turn off for a male character to be very overbearing, incredibly rude and a total pessimist, but upon finding out the real reason behind his actions made me feel for his character very much because of the heartbreaking backstory. And the fact that he's the one with the most character development in the story makes me want to orchestrate a slow clap for him.

As a reader of L.A. Rose's books, I've noticed a similar pattern to the author's heroines. They're not entirely similar, but I can imagine them to easily befriend each other. Her females are all perky, carefree and absolutely nonchalant towards life, which is how Rae Grove is. I've enjoyed all the female leads by the author, and so far, they're the type of characters I'd so want to be friends with.

Don't let me even get started on the humor of this read, because L.A. Rose is queen of sassy and witty. She writes hilarious quotes and comebacks that I never often think of when conversing. I adored every bit of the dialogues in the book, the hilarious banter between Rae and Cohen, which leads me to their love-hate relationship. Looking at it in another angle, Rae appears as a hyperactive puppy, while Cohen's a prissy unamused cat, but they end up keeping the whole relationship civil and mutual.

The only downside to this read was Rae's back story, which appeared to be quite vague and unclear about the exact scenarios that had happened, in comparision too the way Cohen's was described. I felt his was more elaborate, meanwhile, Rae's appeared lacking.

Overall, I still enjoyed the whole read. L.A. Rose has definitely become one of my New Adult favorites, and every time, her books never fail to crack me up.

Adorable

This is pure fluff - the kind of thing I usually hate. But it was hilarious fluff full of sensitivity and heart, with loveable, well-drawn characters.
Rae was someone that could have really gotten on my nerves, and I admittedly wanted to poke her a time or two, but she was so cute and fun I found myself laughing out loud at some of her thoughts and the things she said several times. That never happens.
And poor, messed up Cohen. He'd have been intolerable if it hadn't been so obvious the guy was miserable and deeply broken. He was very clever and full of biting wit, but Rae was so quick and tuned into him that their banter was a real treat. And the texting sessions with 'stranger' Sam were brilliant.
I legit needed s tissue in the last two chapters and that's something else that never happens.

No idea how I wound up choosing this book, but I'm quite pleased that I did. Well done. Definitely recommended.

Georgette Montgomery -- rather, Rae Grove has a past she wanted to forget and all it takes is to fake an engagement with the mean (well, mean doesn't even cut it) Cohen Ashworth. In their month together, they came to learn about and later on, open their hearts to each other. Will the fragile bond between them grow into something stronger or will it break because of their hidden demons?

Plot-wise, it is something you usually see in NA books. The girl, having a shady past, wants to live and forget and the last job that would grant her her security from ever doing dirty work again. Unfortunately (or fortunately, rather) her client has more issues than her own. While working through it together, they fell in love. Typical typical.

And yet, what makes this story beautiful are the characters. I love Cohen and Rae. They complement each other perfectly. Rae, being a stubborn, strong-willed girl, breaks through Cohen's thick wall of snide remarks and harsh statements. At times, it makes me think of Rae as a masochist because Cohen can be hardheaded with his antics too. It's really nice to see Rae to not give up and at the same time never lose herself while trying to help Cohen with his meanness problem. She's still the same Rae you'd come to love: strong and resilient.

There are times when I want to punch Cohen in the face and yet most of the time, I want to hug him. You can see the change in him as the story progresses and it makes you truly believe that people can in face change for the better. I really like books that show the person gradually changing and not all in one smack. If habits die hard, what more if it's ingrained in one's personality right?

Icy Pretty Love is more than just romance. Sure, there is plenty of that here but it also talks about change, acceptance of one's failures yet being strong enough to move forward.

París + Cohen Ashworth... It´s all <3

3 Times A Charm

When I think about it, I've been rocking with L.A Rose since I started blogging. She's one of my favorite indie authors that produces some pretty great work. She's created both reckless and sensual scenes in Adrian Lessons, wild and unfiltered characters in James Games, and finally a full package consisting of an addictive story in Icy Pretty Love. Just a few pages in, I knew her third novel would completely over-shadow the other two. I guess the quote, " Three times a charm is a true statement.

Well Hello Georgette!

If you were offered a hefty amount of money to pretend to be someone's fiance for a month, would you do it?

I asked myself this question quite a few times while reading. I came to the conclusion that if this was a few years ago when I was single and childless, then maybe I would've. I mean come on, Paris, a new identity, a fresh start! But then I thought well, I would miss my friends . . . but what if I didn't have any friends? Well I would miss my mom . . . but what if I didn't have any parents? Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

This is exactly the decision 19 year old Rae Grove was propositioned to make. She was approached by an older gentlemen, with an offer she couldn't possibly refuse. Living the life as an escort, and enduring both physical and emotional pain, she was in dire need of a change. In comes the lovely Georgette Montgomery, Rae's new persona. She finally arrives in Paris, ready to meet her new " fiance " when shit kinda hits the fan.

Her fiance has no clue who Georgette Montgomery, let alone who Rae Grove is.

Uh Oh.

Meet Mr.Grumpy Pants

Cohen Ashworth is not a friendly fellow. In fact, he's down right mean. He's a hater of just about everything: people, children, ferris wheels, holidays . . . this man is the epitome of a year round grinch. So when he finds out his father has hired an escort, (of all people) to pretend to be his fiance, he's pretty upset. No scratch that, livid is more of an appropriate word. Forced to interact with a complete stranger was like asking Cohen to have a vasectomy, but overtime that brick wall of ice he's spent years building around himself, slowly begins to dissolve. Note I said slowly lol.

Opposites Attract

Rae, er, Georgette, was a bubble of fun. She had this tell-it-like-it-is personality, that reminded me so much of myself. She was so annoying, (in a good way) to the point it was absolutely hilarious, and had such a problem shutting her damn mouth. Biting her tongue wasn't her best forte at all, but she needed these qualities to deal with the callous behavior of her fiance.

Introverted Cohen wasn't a big fan of conversation. He was extremely reserved, usually heavily into his work, and when out & about in public, was rude and completely thoughtless to others. But like my mother always says, Georgette was " Time enough for that ass " and during " Niceness Lessons " she created for him, she was able to little by little, get him to not only open up more, but treat people with much more respect than he had in the past.

Speaking of pasts . . . if there was one thing they had in common, it was this. Georgette with her risky profession and the abuse that came with it, and Cohen with his drug abuse issue that could possibly ruin his image as well as profession. Both were robbed of their childhoods, causing them to make poor decisions, but while Georgette learned to right her wrongs and to become a better person, Cohen on the other hand, was obviously still struggling.

One of the things I enjoyed the most, was that for half of the book, they didn't get along. There was constant bickering and banter, making their dialogue such a pleasure to read. Eventually, Cohen begins to come out of his shell, (only a little) giving us a peek of the man hidden behind that mask, and boy I understood why Rae, sorry Georgette fell in love, well strong like.

Cliche Free Is The Way 2b

I've read quite a few New Adult novels this year. Most of them pretty much had the same plot, same twists, and same flat, one-dimensional characters, but honestly Icy Pretty Love was a different reading experience for me. The writing and pacing we very smooth. Nothing happened to quickly, which made every scene fall into place perfectly. Oh and no insta-love! It took them so long, (not too long though) to finally face that fact that they indeed liked each other. If I had to compare this to any other book, it would most likely be Anna & The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. Although these two stories have different plots, they're romance/contemporaries centered in Paris. If I had to chose what book I thought was best, Icy Pretty Love would win my vote hands down. IPL is more of a mature read, with characters that have depth and meaning. The writing delivers as a good contemporary should, with amusing scenes that are sure to make you smile, or crack up laughing as I did. The ending is so realistic it was almost shocking. People don't change overnight, and I appreciated the fact that Rose took this into consideration.

If you're looking for a great New Adult read, I will definitely recommend this. This time around the story isn't as raunchy as her other two novels, and I appreciated that. We're given a cute, sophisticated story, (compared to her other works) with not-so-sophisticated characters. I loved it.

Note: I was provided a copy of this book for review.

This is a great novel. As she has demonstrated with her other novels, Rose is brilliant at telling a story and she uses her characters to tell her stories wonderfully. With Icy Pretty Love she offers something a bit different than before, but with the same style and skill as I have come to expect from her writing.

The story is not intense or even too serious but it is heart warming and the characters draw you in and you become involved in their lives and who they are as people; complexities, flaws, and strengths included. Rose has created characters that are real people, they are not overly special and held to a pedestal, they just are people, and they are trying to deal with their lives as best they can. Cohen and Rae have different lives, different pasts, and see the world through their own eyes and Rose contrasts these beautifully, using Rae to showcase their differences but also keeps their experiences and interactions grounded, making them authentic.

There is a greater focus on character exploration and development than on a sexual side as seen in Rose's previous books, which is great if you are not a fan of detailed sex scenes or a strong reoccurrence of them, but this story isn't actually about the sexual relationship between Rae and Cohen, or even romantic relationship essentially. It is about them discovering who they are as people, what they are doing with their lives and where they want to go. Perhaps that is why I loved it so much, Rae shows Cohen that there is beauty in the world and that being nice to people is important instead of being negative and horrible all the time. They learn and grow from being in each other's company, some more than others, and they help to improve their lives and benefit from their time together.

Watching Rae influence Cohen is charming and captivating, as Cohen keeps his secrets close and you watch the pair get to know one another and figure out how their strange relationship will work. The characters are truly gorgeous, and the stories than surround them are divine. They are authentic, hopeful, lost, genuine, and Rose makes sure there is no exaggeration in her words that fault the flow of her narrative.

The negative moments of the story are balanced and there is not an overload of sunshine and lollipops but there is a strong grounded reality in the story Rose is telling us. There are secrets, revelations, and a wonderfully heart warming and real story being told and one that I look forward to reading again. Once again Rose has done a magnificent job.

Rae is a call girl, but not for long. After this final job she is going to take her riches, run away and start a new, better life for herself. She has received a mysterious phone call from a billionaire who asks her to pretend to be his son’s fiancé. What Rae did not expect is the nightmare of the man she will have work with. Cohen is not just irritable, he is insufferable and blatantly mean. Everything and everyone irritates him, and he has no qualms about expressing it. Now, she all she has to do is tolerate him for a couple of months, and her life will be changed forever.

I loved this book so much more than I thought I would, which is always such a treat! From Rose’s quirky characters to her interesting plot line, this book held my attention to the last page.

First of all, I love the characters in this book. They were refreshing, quirky and interesting. Rae is fun, bold, and absolutely loveable. Cohen, on the other hand, is persnickety, curt, mysterious and irresistible. Together these two are a union of chemistry, humor and witty banter. It was so refreshing to read a story, particularly a romance where it didn’t contain the same cookie cutter characters as all the novels preceding it.
Furthermore, the storyline itself had an interesting premise, especially about a life style many of us know nothing about. The way the characters develop throughout this novel was done well and not rushed. The novel was by no means fraught with insta-love, for which I was greatly thankful. I was interested the entire way through and loved every moment.

The writing in this book was well done. I was surprised slightly about the amount of adult language in this book; however, it wasn’t overbearing or gratuitous either. I thought the pacing in this novel was very well done, and even throughout the book. My biggest, and possibly my only complaint about this entire novel is that when the conflict reached its peak and Cohen’s big secret was finally revealed it was a bit anticlimactic. I was like, “oh, okay.” Instead of being like, “OMG!!! NO!!!” Despite this, it really didn’t distract any from how much I enjoyed the novel and how much I would adore a sequel.

4.5 Smooches

“He laughs. And then, just like it always does when that happens, the sun comes out and shines a little brighter.”

Rae Grove is on an adventure in Paris, kind of. She is on a job in Paris, but for someone who has never traveled before this is very much an adventure. A chance to be someone new. Primarily, Georgette Montgomery, the finace of rich and sexy Cohen. Cohen needs Rae to be his pretend fiancé in order to look more stable (his bad boy ways catching up on him. What Rae didn’t count on was Cohen being a GIANT ass to her or him being as sexy as he is. What Cohen, hater of people, didn’t count on was growing to like Rae.

“I didn’t buy a rose for Georgette Montgomery, I bought one for Rae Grove.”

I loved this fresh sexy twist on a working girl, Pretty Woman, story! Rae knows she is just a prostitute and while it is clear in some ways she is still an insecure little girl, in so many more ways she is a confident, fun and kind person. She makes it her goal to help teach Cohen how to be a decent person. OMG I loved the idea of the prostitute teaching the rich man how to be a good person!

“It takes about half a minute for my second orgasm to come. But Cohen doesn’t rest until he’s coaxed out a third. And a fourth.”

LA Rose is one of those authors you wish more people would discover, Her books are witty, unique and fun and always a pleasure to read! I read this book in one sitting and very much enjoyed every moment of it!

Just like the previous books by L.A.Rose, ‘Icy Pretty Love’ is a book you get pulled in immediately. The writing is fast paced, romantic and at times incredibly funny. I seriously laughed out loud a few times (made my boyfriend look at my funny, HAHA). ‘Icy Pretty Love’ is kind of a ‘Pretty Woman’ sort of story but it definitely has his own thing. I just loved it and read it in one day.
Not only was this book incredible funny it was also very romantic. I loved the chemistry between Rae and Cohen. They are two very different people, and if it hadn’t been for this arrangement they would have never met. I mean Cohen would definitely not have looked at Rae if they met differently.

The character I liked the most in this book was definitely Rae. Her life has been very hard on her, and although you never really find out what happened to her to become what she is today, I thought she was a very brave person. I loved how stubborn she was and how she kept rambling at Cohen, even though he really didn’t seem to be listening at first. I loved how she saw the good in Cohen, even though everyone told her it would be pointless.

This was really another great book by L.A. Rose. It was just a perfect book for a rainy Sunday. If you’re a fan of romance novels this is definitely one for you. There are some light sexy scenes but nothing to sexy. This book definitely gets my recommendation.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. A good romance that I felt needed to provide us with a little more background about the two main characters. She was a prostitute hired to pose as a fiancé for a month to the nasty son of a financier (she was hired by the dad). While we got hints of a lousy, abusive background, I was never convinced why this sweet, glass half full girl made the decision she did to become a streetwalker.

He was a mean spirited workaholic who lashed out at everyone he came in contact with. Again, we saw a little of what made him the way he was, notably his unloving father and the tragic death of his mother, but nothing near enough to make him the way he was and the darkness in his sole he kept referring to (and made him disappear for a time).

But, this was a good story and I enjoyed reading it.

This was a fab read. Fun, romantic, fast-paced story. Think along the lines pretty woman....call-girl paid to spend time with a rich man.....but without the shop assistants being mean, kind hotel managers and slippery suckers.....so not really like pretty woman at all then...lol......

Rae is a tough cookie with a smart mouth and experience built on survival. Cohen is spoilt, arrogant and all round arse. Thus the niceness lessons begin and you can see the ending a mile off.... but it was fun getting there. I loved Rae's no hold barred opinions and banter with Cohen and on occasions, the full out laugh when speaking with "baldy" !! The text messages were a nice twist, loved their sight-seeing round Paris and Rae's love of cheese, pastries....and bath tubs...lol....

The ending was a HFN, but it left me grinning like a fool! An enjoyable read, recommended.

"What's she?"
"A human being."
I point to an older man who keeps clearing his throat. "And him?"
"Human being," he grumbles.
I gesture to a really old lady wearing so many jewels and so much makeup that she resembles a clown. "And her?"
"Alien from outer space.”

¡Mi nuevo libro favorito! *suspiro*

You have to be careful who you let see the real you. If you wear a mask and someone chips it, it doesn’t matter. But leave your true heart exposed? Pieces of that won’t grow back.

This book was really insightful, but at the same time really funny. More funny than insightful, really, and I liked the imbalance.
We are going to have a great day!” I throw my arm over Baldy’s shoulders, who shivers like I doused him in kerosene. “It’s you and me, Baldy—er, I mean Retard.”
“Renard,” he says through gritted teeth.
“Renard! Of course, Renard. You probably think that was on purpose, but it was an honest mistake. All my mistakes are honest. Hey, after we go shopping let’s get our hair done! Oops, wait.”

I really loved it! It was the best three hours of reading I had had! Some tears, smiles, frustration, love... Loved the characters and how it all works in its own way.
Now, about the book...
This is the story of Rae. A girl who is paid to be the fiance of a rich man named Cohen for a month while his father paid her a good amount of money. She tries to deal with Cohen attitude so she write to a wrong number and finds in him, Sam, a friend to whom she could talk. He helps her live with Cohen during the first three week until he brakes an important business and everything changes.
At that point the story feels like any other.. But the end is far to be there. I think that it is the boiling point of the book, the texts and the Starbucks.

Loved it!!!

God!! Parts of this storyline were so vague, it was really annoying, their pasts and even their current lives weren't explained very well. Too many holes in the plot for me to actually enjoy reading it.
