Artemis, having been there when her parents were brutally murdered by a were, is more than a little wary of being a mate to one, and so has spent the years running and running, but it looks like her mate is getting closer.

This started out to be an interesting twist on were-shifters however it was a very short read, and there was no real character development. Not sure I’m keen on the idea of shifters being able to command their mates to do things – brings issues to consent to the fore in a way I do not like (one big reason why this hasn't been rated 3 low stars). That being it was just what I needed as I tried to truly wake up.

A super short novella that ends on a cliff-hanger.

Having read the second novella, I seriously do not get why they were not combined into one book!

In the 50's they thought all werebeasts were extinct, they were wrong. People have been marked and mated to these creatures. Artemis did not have a mark until the night werebeasts killed her parents. She was never seen by or touched by the killers. She has a furry crescent moon on her right arm. She has been ducking here mate since the tracking system was a phone app. The outer edges of her city are totally surrounded, but she finds her mate on a site and tries to figure which blip he is. She will do anything to stay unmated. Orion is her mate and she flees from him until her v-positive roommate is kidnapped and his boyfriend killed. She will use Orion to find Lawrence, and try to fight off the attraction she feels pulling her all the time.

This started out to be an interesting and unique twist on "were" paranormal; however, it just ended abruptly (cliff hanger) and was way to short (start to finish less than an hour). There is no real character depth or back story to fill in the gaps that don't make sense. I truly don't understand authors putting so called books out that are really just the first hundred pages or so just so you'll be forced to spend more money paying for a hundred pages at a time. Why not just publish the entire book for one price?

I'm intrigued by the idea of serials, so I decided to hold my nose and give another one a read. And I was pleasantly surprised! Unlike other serials I've read, Moonbound feels like a complete story (although, obviously, there are major plot points unresolved). There was plenty of good world-building around the unique shifter mate bonds to keep me interested, combined with an intriguing glimpse of the love interest. Book two is definitely on my list.

Nice Read!

I really enjoyed this book. It was great read! You have Artemis, a human who is marked to be a mate, running from her true destiny and Orion who is just the opposite of what Artemis thought a wereshifter would be. She struggles with her feelings and her urges. I really can't wait to read book 2. I think other people will enjoy this book and I will recommend to others.

I have not read this author before but the plot intrigued me so I wanted to give it a go.
It's a shame it is so short and ends on a cliff hanger, it would have been great to be a bit longer.
It was an interesting concept with the mate marks and the dreams. I actually quite liked Cooper and would have liked to see more of him, but we will see how that plot develops!
I liked the characters as well, Artemis has an interesting background. I would like to know more about this v-positive.
Overall a quick read, I would have liked it to be longer but I will be continuing the series.

Artemis' mother and father were killed by werebeasts and she came out of the ordeal matemarked and she has been running ever since. She returns to her hometown after her aunt's death and her mate finally catches up with her. She fights her pull toward him until she needs his help saving her kidnapped roommate.

This was fun, sexy and fast paced. Very entertaining.

I chose to read and review this book. I love BBW and shifters together. They are a great combination. This book was a joy to read. I was so sad that it ended and want more of it. The characters are lovable and will get the other books to see what happens next. Sweet work that will leave you wanting more until it there is no more.

A brief glimpse

This was just a quick glimpse of a story. I’m not really sure if I liked this set of characters or not.

Definitely a different take on paranormal. Liked that it seemed like an “after” story - taking place after sone major event - never really figured out what that was but it was definitely an alternate timeline plot.

Putting this back on the shelf for a bit.

What a refreshing read ... what a great read considering some of the other free reads that I've gotten from Amazon lately. This is not to say that I didn't come across some editing errors ... those little 'speed bumps' that make you do a double take or make you back up and go "Wait ... What?". But these instances do not impact the story or reading much. Otherwise, I would have given this entry a 4.5-4.8 rating.

Now, I love to be drawn into a story and one of the best ways to do that is very good world building. In this case the author did a very good job of doing that. The setting of the story isn't so far outside of normal and renders it totally believable. I believe this is a very good start for a new serial. As for the characters, Artemis Williams (female lead) is your average plus sized heroine. She doubts herself, questions her attractiveness and lacks self confidence. But more importantly she is the survivor of a 'werebeast' attack where her parents are killed and she eventually slips under the radar to avoid detection. She can't avoid her destiny and her mate (Orion), the Arctic werebeast/werewolf and she can't avoid the attraction between them. I think that both characters are well matched and work well together. I am looking forward to seeing ho the story continues.

Most of the time when I read books dealing with shifters/weres I like it when there are just wolves or cats. Sometimes, having a mixture of different shifters in one book gets kind of sloppy and really strange. For example, I was reading a book where the heroine was a were-otter ... yes a freaking WERE-OTTER and her male interest is a wolf. Unfortunately, I never finished reading this book because I kept imagining what type of children they would have and it got really strange. With this serial there are different were creatures and it hasn't been muddled so far. Looking forward to later installments.

Serials are a fun way to get a relatively short reading fix – always with a cliffhanger – and more to the story yet to come, usually installments a few months apart. Long enough to wait impatiently, short enough to keep the ongoing story interesting… and the reader wanting to know more about that world.

The Moonfate Serial starts with Moonbound. We meet Artemis, a young woman whose parents were brutally killed by were-beasts. On the run from the authorities and from her were-mate, who’s mark has suddenly appeared on her wrist – Artemis goes underground. After seven years she returns to her childhood home, with a room-mate, Lawrence. Not a lover but a friend who is V-positive (vampire), they have kept each other’s secrets for years.

Orion, her were-wolf mate is nearby, and it’s time for him to claim his mate.

Because serials are so short and intense by nature – it’s unfair to go much further into the opening story. Know that you will find an extremely hot, dominant, alpha male in Orion. An especially sensuous, strong mate in Artemis – a murder, a kidnapping and the beginning of a hot, sexy relationship between the were-mates. And a lot of other fun characters along the way.

The world-building is fantastic. It was so easy to fall into this world with very few words. I think anyone who loves shifters, werewolves, vampires, hot sexy alpha men and a strong heroine will love this Serial: Moonfate.

This is a relatively new author, and her first book. It met all of my expectations for a totally engaging read! Serials are not my favorite type of read, even though they seem to be gaining favor in the eBook market. But, that said, this book will definitely keep myself and other readers coming back.

The synopsis will give you a background for the storyline … a strong BBW, shifter alpha mate, tragedy, danger, suspense, inner turmoil … oh and did I mention a VERY dominate (almost D/s) bond between the as yet unmated heroine & hero! This seems to be due to the mate-mark, almost like other shifter stories have between alpha & pack mates and (claimed) mated couples. There are good secondary characters and a hint of other underlying currents, beside the hide-and-seek goings on between the main characters.

I really enjoy the writing style of this author. It is well-written as far as having a good back story, flow without gaps & good editing!
I can’t wait to get to Book 2 as soon as possible.

Moon Bound (Moonfate Serial Book 1) By Sylvia Frost. Reviewed by Pamela Talley

Artemis Williams' parents were brutally killed by werebeasts. Fearing her life she evades the police and the Federal Bureau of Supernatural Investigation who would lose her in the system not for murder, but for the Weremark on her wrist. For seven years Artemis is on the run with her new friend Lawrence, always on the lookout for her weremate. When the story begins, Artemis has returned to her childhood home, has a job and her best friend Lawrence.
Ms. Frost has created a world different than ours. Werebeasts are tracked or not, just check your laptop or phone. Her weremate is so very close. She knows who he is, Orion. Will he help her solve the mysteries that surround her? Why were her parents killed? What is this deadly evil that lurks in her life? Where is Lawrence?
This is the first book in a serial with a serious cliffhanger but well worth the investment. Ms. Frost is a shiny new star in the world Paranormal Romance. I love the characters and the author's edgy style. Moon Bound is fast paced with a hot sexy Alpha determined to have his mate.

I genuinely enjoyed this short little story. It was not nearly long enough to be truly satisfying. I wish for this book to have been MUCH longer in order to capture every heart-bounding moment in its fullness.

I loved the fire and life displayed in Artemis. She was a strong-willed and loyal character, especially to her best friend Lawrence. Their relationship was very sweet and heartening. I enjoyed the easy camaraderie between them both.

And Lawrence!!! How do I love thee, let me count the ways!! Lawrence is a V-positive (Vampire) member of the supernatural community and Hella gay to boot! He is completely sassy in an incredibly subtly and disdainful way and I love it!! Sorry, major fiction-crush going on here. Why are the most awesome ones always gay?! *sigh

Needless to say, I was completely enraptured and wholly captivated by this first little addition to the Moonfate Serial series. I can hardly wait to get my hands on its successor!!

Ok

This book was OK. I thought Artemis was a bit immature in how she stereotyped the weres. I absolutely hate that this is a series of novellas. Just make it one book!

Ehh...Ok.

Not what I was expecting. The characters, Artemis and Orion, aren't the most interesting couple and I didn't feel any chemistry between them. The story is tepid at best. I don't like Artemis Williams--she's a whiner--and Orion North (good, powerful character name), is definitely no alpha.

After reading the synopsis, I thought this would be a different twist on the usual paranormal shifter tale, and in a way it is. It's just not working for me.

Of course this short novella ends in a cliffhanger so that you have to read Huntbound, Bloodbound and Heartbound to bring this tale to resolution. It was a free download from Amazon so fortunately, if I choose to finish, I've got each story already. Otherwise, I'm pretty certain after reading Moonbound I would most likely abandon the series as this first installment undoubtedly did not hold my interest.

On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2 stars.

Welcome to a world of new and fabulous shifter species - and the promise of amazingly arousing mates...

I found this book for free - and we all know that we get what we pay for.

But I didn't pay for super-hot and sexy rolled up with suspense and a beautiful woman with the voice of a siren - nor did I pay for a well-built world of government-controlled (or not?) shifter species including a were-pufferfish? And people that are "V-positive" (which is vampire)... This world will knock you out with it's completeness.

And the heroine is resisting her mate-mark because her parents were murdered by werebeasts while she cowered in a tent, listening. And the hero - holy guacamole, he is smoking hot...but strangely tender.

Yeah, gimme more. I'll pay for the next one!!!

I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Sylvia Frost. This is part 1 of the Moonfate series by the author.

Artemis Williams lost her mom and dad in a were attach that left her all alone. Her parents death was investigated and seen as a bear attack but Artemis knew better. When her roommate and friend is kidnapped she calls the only person she thinks can help her but can she trust him.

I loved the strong character of Artemis and her interaction with Orion. The author wrote a very smooth flowing story.

This is for any paranormal romance book lover who likes action and mystery in their books.

wow just wow, I was hooked from the first page.
I feel we've only got a glimpse of Artemis and there's more to her parents murder than first appears. As for Orion, who can resist a hot Alpha ? Artemis is trying to until she needs help to save her best friend and has no choice but to turn to Orion.
I was so caught up in this story I didn't realise I'd reached the end till I turned the page and there was no more, I even flicked back a couple of pages and re-read hoping that the story would magically continue! Needless to say book 2 is downloading now.
